13th Region Scrimmages
#1
I know scrimmages will be taking place soon and some may have already occurred. Would like to use this thread to post 13th scrimmages coming up or results. Anyone know of any matchups?
#2
Monday 25th Harlan County Lady Black bears vs North Laurel Lady Jaguars at Harlan County

Tuesday 26th Harlan County Black bears Boys vs Barbourville at Harlan County

Wednesday 27th Harlan Lady Green dragons girls vs perry co at home scrimmage

30th Harlan green dragons boys vs Buckhorn scrimmage
#3
SL girls beat Pendleton 52-12 and Played #4 Franklin to a tie at half before losing in the 2nd. The SL boys play Oak Hill Oh on Saturday in Northern Ky, Oak Hill features 2 of the top 100 in Ohio so should be a good test.
#4
clay vs ballard was a dandy in the Richie Farmer shootout.Ballard won 82-81 in ot.

What’s your alls predictions for the 13th region this year? I’m sure there’s probably a post asking this same question but couldn’t find it. Thoughts?

I think the two best teams by the end will be corbin and south laurel. Corbin has ellis, akins, pietrowski and a couple transfers. Next best would be bell, harlan co, north, and clay co.

Harlan County boys will scrimmage Barbourville tonight at Harlan County

Is the Ellis kid and the other transfers going to be eligible? If so I agree they will be tough. South is going to be hard to handle I feel like they have the edge this season.

Whitley released Ellis. Malachi got eligible for fball so i assume he will be good. Not heard how good fball coach son is. If Ellis and Akins coexist they will be a tough out.

Wow that’s shocking that he was released. That def makes things interesting for sure. I still think south has the edge though with mabe

Salmons averaged about 12 ppg for the CM freshman team. He can play.  Malachi was ranked #15 in his '27 class in WVA. Not easy to find 6' 4" , 245 lb. 15 year- olds who can actually ball. Early Christmas present for Coach P if both of these kids play hoops this season.

Malachi Brown is listed on the current Corbin roster. Mason Salmons is not.

Don't forget,, Corbin has another really good shooter and scorer in Sr.,Connor Middleton.

I agree connor middleton will be a big part of their success. He was solid last year. Also, ive heard freshman dawson farmer has made huge strides this offseason. Lucas Britian too coming off injury but he will be solid by seasons end. The problem last yr was they couldn’t shoot. From 3 or the FT line. They have lost toughness but they will be a much better shooting team. I have changed my prediction, I would put my money on the Redhounds to come out of the 13th.

Sounds to me like if Clay County only lost to perennial power Ballard by 1 point in overtime that the Tigers may be to reckon with in the 13th as much as anyone.
#14
I agree. I saw that score. I thought offseason drama may hinder them but it seems like thats not an issue. Also, they proved to be a top team last year after fighting through drama midseason. I think they will be in the mix at the end.

Not seeing the positives of losing to Ballard. Clay county has a very talented roster and lose to this Ballard team? I don’t like it, don’t care if it was a scrimmage. On top of all that it was the first ever Richie Farmer classic, the boys didn’t get up for it, VERY SAD!

The Richie Farmer Classic was a ... scrimmage??? Has Richie fallen that far in the eyes of Clay Countians that he's only worth a scrimmage?

And just keeping it real--Ballard is not very good. Losing record last year and preseason #7 in their region.

That’s #7 to arguably the best region in the state. Also not a lot separates 1 thru at least 7 in that region

They finished 14-16 last year. I saw them at Collins this summer, they are not very good-couple of quick guards, thats it. And the 7th has 4 good teams big dropoff after. 11th is best region in state top to bottom.

11th is loaded and very stacked region. Clay has to start winning big times games and stop being the “potential team”

Clay got hammered yesterday by Henry Clay, down 21-4 at one point and 39-20 at half. Came back in the 2nd to lose by 12. Did not appear to your normal Clay team to me. A LOT of 1 on 1 ball. Has to potential to be a lot better by years end but yesterday was not a good one.

I heard Bell beat 1 of the Pulaski teams yesterday.

They beat Southwest by 2 or 3. Can't remember

Heard burnett has a lingering injury that he’s trying to play thru from the last football game that caused him to sit the second half of the southwestern game. I don’t know about the Madison central game. Bell needs him at 100 percent at all times to be dangerous. When he’s healthy they can compete in the region, when he’s not they can lose any game.
