Surprised they will let Pikeville livestream from their field. last year they wouldn't let Raceland do it other than radio if I remember correctly.

I just hope we can hear all the Sayre moms screaming like idiots as they did last year against Raceland. It was comical. Maybe these moms have read up on the rules of football.

They were the absolute worst. I know the Ram and Panther fans don’t agree on much but I think we can all agree that the tears of private schools getting beat by us small town country teams are very satisfying.

Lex and Lou media love Sayre lol. If Pikeville plays well they advance. Amazing what Pikeville has done especially on defense lately. Justice out, Stanley missed games, Slone out,  Stevens out, Hager out, Muncy to Belfry,  others banged up as well. A healthy Pikeville would roll through Class A.
Hoping they put it all together tonight.

I'll go with the Panthers 40-21.

Pikeville looks worried. Sayre nearly had another TD but a good hit dislodged the ball after a catch in the endzone for a Pikeville INT.
#72
Pikeville D Coordinator must have not watched any film on Sayre. Playing 7-8 yards off the receivers and that’s Sayres game short passes . If he doesn’t adjust gonna be a long 2nd half for the panthers

Is the panic starting to set in for the Panthers? Look out of sorts and lacking a bit of discipline.
#74
Pennington play calling picking Sullivan apart. Doesn’t look like he is going to adjust

Thanks for ruining it, was going to watch on demand. Tossing random scores out on the wrong thread......... there's a game update thread for that purpose.

Tough one to watch for the panthers, I saw about 5-6 guys on the field that didn’t care if they win or lose. Tough year for the panthers. Congratulations to Sayre.

Pikeville loses in an upset...
Congratulations to Sayre.

Wow

Maybe folks will stop trying to mail in State Championship trophies at the beginning of the season.

This is what happens when a team loses its desire. I’ve watched it all year. I called it weeks ago. Great win by Sayre, congrats to them.

Have to agree with Micro Brew by far the worst team I have seen Pikeville put on the field and tonight I think Pikeville middle school would have played with more enthusiasm than these guys played with but Brandon Anthony give it his all and he was the only one

Word is Qb and WR1 here both in Lexington on Thursday night at a sorority party. If true some of that is on the parents. Agree with MB you could see this coming weeks ago. Congrats to Sayre had a great game plan and deserved to win.

If that’s the case before a big game like this, truly sad. Also why some players who were out or played hurt mattered so much. In addition to their physical talent, they seemed to care.
#88
Pikeville will be worse next year without 35

What happened with Pikeville this season?  All season we have heard that they lost their desire and didn’t act like they cared.  To me that just makes no sense at all.  It would be one thing if they weren’t winning games but this is a program that had won 4 out of the last 5 state titles.  I’m sure no one will know the real answer but I’m just curious about what lead to the implosion of a program that has been the gold standard in 1A football for nearly 10 years.

Can’t replace him but it also makes them less one dimensional. That’s what they became with the injuries. You’ll see some kids step up next year and wonder why they weren’t used more this year. I don’t buy they’ll be worse. This team had some problems.

Sometimes success makes you weak or you forget what it takes. Can’t skip steps. This team knew they had a ton back from a championship team and great talent to replace what they lost. Probably better on paper but the guys lost to graduation were probably better leaders looking back. Other posters are 100% correct in this team didn’t have the fight or enthusiasm from the beginning. I keep saying injuries but they really hurt. A kid who would have had a big year on both sides was hurt in practice before he ever played a game. Starting WR and corner who was playing well gets hurt on a non contact play half way into the season. Another really good receiver and defensive back has hamstring issues all year. Those 3 were really good on both sides of the ball.  Starting LB hurt against Boyd Co last game of the regular season. They had a lineman who played hurt all season. 3 year starting safety has been hurt for weeks and came back this week only to get hurt in practice but played anyway. Honestly some guys they needed to lead didn’t seem to. And as good as the staff is and obviously has been in recent years, there was some crazy stuff going on this year during games that comes down to preparation and understanding game situations. Things that should never happen. Gameplans and play calling that were questionable at best. A single play caller and not rushing to get plays snapped in time needs to happen but that’s been going on for years. That’s the best I can give you from the scuttlebutt. Little bit of a mess all around. Perfect storm. But that’s the also the reason championships are so hard to win. They don’t just hand those out. I was guilty myself of handing the Panthers the championship this year before the season began. I saw what they had but never saw it looking like it did on the field especially last night. Everyone needs a step back and a look in the mirror.
