Congratulations Lexington Catholic. Next year will be Bell’s big year where they can gloat about making it to a state championship due to Belfry getting moved down to 2A and Lexington Catholic getting put in the west next year. The east will be as weak as its ever been and wide open for Bell to end up at Kroger field before getting demolished by CAL or CENTRAL one.

This was a hard fought battle from both teams. Congrats to Lex Cath they really came to play. The game was over after 4 plays that couldn’t have went any more farther than bells way. First play false start, then a “fumble” on an incomplete pass, followed by 2 back to back sideline warnings with a ref actually losing his senses on the bell county coaching staff. Down 7-0 in no time. After leading 8-7 for like 2 hours and turning the ball over right outside the redzone 3 times, they fall to 14-8 and were in desperation.
Things lost this game for bell county.
I’ve never been been big on blaming officials cause they are part of the game. I also understand that we have referee shortages, but lord have mercy. That is without a doubt, the worst called game in the history of football FOR BOTH SIDES. Multiple times players from either team should’ve been flagged for unsportsmanlike, not one. The idea of let them play and let’s go home really was put to use in this one. I will never understand how you can have possession to fumble the ball if feet never touched the ground. I’ll never understand how receivers can move before the snap in the forward direction. They could’ve called a false start on literally every single play of lex cath from one receiver who can get a 3 step head start.
2. The biggest reason they lost, DUDLEY FREAKING HILTON. The retirement home has an opening buddy time to go. Lord have mercy. Not only does he hand lex cath the first score of the game with 3 sideline penalties. He thinks a 3rd and 10 calls for a blast up the middle. I said it in august and the same thing stands. This was a spread team with a wishbone coach. Every time they moved away from dudley’s needs, they had success. On the drive to win the game with 6 min to go, they started in the spread, got 3 easy first downs, AND WENT WISHBONE AGAIN. Like what are we doing here. This offense should’ve been retired when Daniel Thomas ended his high school career. The best player on the field for both sides is the QB, and he never once turned him loose until it’s too late. Anyone on this app could’ve scored 28 tonight on Lex Cath with this bell offense, except for him. Completely and utterly his fault period. Defense played better than many people would’ve gave them credit, had many stops and really only gave up 14 points. But to have multiple explosive pieces, and RUN THE SAME PLAY OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Ridiculous this is why we should have a forced retirement age.
Lex cath is much better with the mobile version at QB, there’s a different result if #1 isn’t at QB he was spectacular moving in the pocket and prolonging drives. Playing cal is tough, so they will lose next week cause Cal has the coaches to score in the redzone.

I say the better team won period. I don’t care what you all say about officiating. Bottom line is that Lex Cath traveled over 2 hours to Pineville (long trip), Bell Co has the “home field” advantage, Bell Co has massive linemen, Lex Cath has zero linemen over 200 lbs and Bell has an hall of fame coach. Lex Cath took advantage of all turn over on downs and Bell Co penalties.

And yes Lex Cath had the better team. Team includes coaches though. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE BETTER PLAYERS ON THE FIELD. They were outmatched up front, wasn’t winning on speed, and was really only able to get in the endzone 2 times. Dudley hilton was outcoached from top to bottom period. F minus grade for the Dud tonight. Terrible. One drive ended o inside the catholic 20 yard line. The play call from 1st down to 4th down did not change. Same exact formation and play 4 times. On 4th and 3, maybe not run the same play as 3rd and 5. They had success out of multiple spread sets, and won the line of scrimmage fairly easily when spread out, but after going back and watching the live stream, following up a 15 yard gain out of a trips formation with WISHBONE!!!!! IS UNACCEPTABLE. QB Draw on 4th and 8. I mean i wouldn’t feel this way if i thought they were unmatched. But to be honest the only place they were unmatched was the quickness of the QB and RB, and they contained that for 4 quarters for the most part. 8 points against that defense, WHEN YOU HAVE THAT MANY WEAPONS, is crazy to me.

Seriously, what game were you watching where you can sit there and type in all capital letter that Catholic didn’t have the better players on the field? The same guy who boasted that Catholic would have to score 40, the QB can shred any defense, our RB breaks every tackle and Catholic will not stop Bell PERIOD! I’m sure all your players look explosive when they play against teams that can’t tie their shoelaces because your QB didn’t shred anyone, I bet your RB was held to his lowest YPC this year and Bell County was held below 10 points for the first time since 2020.
The Catholic kids have been told all year by the media and anyone on the internet that they aren’t any good because they were 0-6 and all they did was keep showing up every single day busting their tail to get better and they have now won seven games in a row and for you to give those kids zero credit for going on the road in a regional championship and winning is damn disrespectful.

News flash pal, Bell County didn’t play the way they did the previous six weeks because they were playing a team that had more talent than them. Catholic watched film? Of course they did, just like every other team you have played this year. The difference is Catholic has a coaching staff to put together a game plan and the kids to execute it.
All you Bell County people complaining about Dudley should either join the staff to help, transfer your kids or shut up because I guarantee you that not one of you know the personnel on that team better than him. His job is to give his team the best chance to win and running the offense they have with the kids they have gives them that chance.

All you Bell County people complaining about Dudley should either join the staff to help, transfer your kids or shut up because I guarantee you that not one of you know the personnel on that team better than him. His job is to give his team the best chance to win and running the offense they have with the kids they have gives them that chance.

All i can say is this, Belfry and JC have run the under center option for years. When the dive gets stuffed. THEY CHANGE. They have other options and utilize their other weapons. That’s why they are so good. Nobody on this app or on this planet can say that reverting back to the 90s power I offense in this game was the move to make. And i wish i could explain how infuriating it is to watch not just the same formation, but the same play, same side of the field, over and over. Catholic loaded the box with 10 players and bell still had success moving the ball somehow. Purely off of the line and miller fighting for his life. But when you get inside the 30, and everyone on the mountain knows where it’s going, who’s getting it, and what the snap count is because the old man screams his plays across the field, CHANGE IT UP. You even have the star running back coming on the sideline upset cause he’s screaming, “they know it’s the same thing!!”
If you watched the game, you seen that Catholic was limited to very few explosives for 3 and a half quarters. It was a very even matchup with catholics offense vs bells defense. But you would also notice bell county was able to move the football when they played modern. Even if it was for the 5 somewhat modern plays they ran. That’s the story all year. They go to rock, rock has a defense with a pulse, they run the spread and win. There is not one team in this state that runs a power I and wins titles period. He didn’t have the most productive back in the states history, so he didn’t know what to do. I would say that’s the sign of a bad coach. When you have a better line, a defense getting stops, and athletes that were proving to be able to match up all over the field, and you think the best idea is to run the same play 4 straight times on the 30… You are senile!
The corbin faithful called out what they seen the last 5 years, even with the success they had. Bell county fans can say Bell county would not be where it is today without Dudley and that’s the truth he established this program. But when you can be 30 yards away behind the coach and hear the play being called, and have players begging for something different, and have back to back sideline warnings to start the game because you were upset with a call (bad or not they made it), how can you look at that roster and say nobody could do any better??
Lexington catholic played very good and made nearly zero mistakes, almost no penaties, and had some unbelievable athletes… but lord Dudley handed them the region championship. Oh yeah and my favorite quote of the night from dudley after the game, “they probably got 100 players and 4 quarterbacks that can throw it a hundred yards, they have kickers that can kick it a mile” Private or public it’s 11 on 11 and he put his 11 in the worst place to win.
This is the last thing i say about bell county football until there is a change. It’s basketball season now. Congrats to Lexington Catholic I hope they have a chance to knockoff Cal and we get a new champ in 3A.

Bell always plays an RPI friendly schedule in hopes of getting home playoff games but not always preparing them to win the playoff games.
I have no dog in this fight anymore but reading the comments I am having a hard time understanding how Bell County supposedly dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball and yet scored only 8 pts. Bell County ran the ball really well in the beginning but in the 2nd Quarter Catholic adjusted by moving their linebackers closer to the LOS. Defensively, Bell played well but Catholic also stalled several times in the red zone and even missed a gimme FG right before half. Bell County was a really good team but lost last night to a better team.

Outside of a Grand slam hire. I think some Bell County people could be in for a very Rude awakening when Dudley Hilton retires. …

1) When the coaches are coaching from the numbers this tends to happen. Maybe Log Mountain has local refs trained, but these refs weren't local.
2) Hilarious!! A bit of an overreach here
3) I totally agree with this, phenomenal looking player
Well, it only took single digit points to beat Bell Co at home.

I'm no Dud fan or Bell County fan for that matter....but as I've said on here before, I respect the old coot! The reason that Bell County has ANY tradition at all, is because of that old, overinflated, egomaniacal joker. He has pulled more aces from his sleeves than a showboat gambler. Hell of a coach!!! Both times he left Bell County to coach elsewhere, the program slipped to mediocrity and the Bell fans just couldn't understand WHY it was happening without Dudley. When he comes back, SHAZAM, state championship appearances! He knows how to make a program tick. You all better get him some super Geritol, a Costco size bottle of George Dickel or a Mario Mushroom and install a pacemaker/defibulator in the old goat or anything else you can put together to keep him going for a few more years. When he's gone, one way or another....he's gonna leave a hole in Log Mountain. If you all can't see that....wow! Dudley Hilton, for what he is, IS Bell County Football.

Criticizing Bell's staff to this extent is comical. Lexington Catholic had much more speed than us and we played an offense that kept them off the field and we moved the football well. Did Coach Hilton call a perfect game? No. But we moved the football and was leading headed into the 4th qtr. it's easy to criticize after the fact. Lexington Cath. has a great team. We had little margin for error. The early controversial call was huge.
Fact is, no one was complaining last year when we made the State Finals beating Belfry along the way. The only other program within 100 miles of us that can argue over who's been better the past 5 years or 40 years is Corbin.

Let's add in that Lexington Catholic is running a different offense with the starting QB out. They had to play to Bell Co's strength and still won.

I think the move for wasik to QB has made catholic much harder to stay with. Another thing that is impressive is their tempo with a guy who wasn’t playing QB 3 weeks ago. Definitely an amazing staff and all the credit to those men.

91 yards passing isn't anywhere close to dual threat, especially for Lexington Catholic's passing standards. Trust me, I'm no fan and was pulling for Bell Co
