Danville at Beechwood 11/8
#1
Danville at Beechwood. Thoughts?
#2
There was a time when this would have been a slobber knocker, not anymore. Beechwood starts the train to their next championship
#3
Danville, save the money you’d waste on paying drivers and diesel and invest it in your facility rebuild.  Do the right thing and FORFEIT!

Have to think this is the final game of the Parks tenure.

Hate to see Danville drop so much!

Let’s go Danville
#7
At one time this would have been a highly anticipated finals matchup. It’s amazing how far Danville has fallen off.

I agree. Stay at home and go to Mr Gattis and then take in a movie. Team outing for pizza and movie is a much better use of the kids' time.  Kids don't deserve any more beatings.

Danville's chance of winning this game is as small as Old School being pegged to star as Jack Hammer, opposite Stormy Daniels, in the sequel to her 2005 blockbuster flick, "Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre."

First of all, the closest Mr. Gattis is Lexington. Best they can do is Giovannis Pizza buffet. Second, you really think they have a 4% chance?

If it isn't then the Danville administration is sending a clear signal that they no longer care about the football program (and its other athletic programs too because those usually got funding from football).

I'm  in my 60's, do you think i'm  a Jack Hammer???

Would Danville over Beechwood in '24 be a bigger upset than Centre over Harvard in 1921? I say, yes, by far.
#13
Yes- ABSOLUTELY!! Centre was killing people back in the day. They sabotaged their powerhouse football program to pacify some stupid academic accreditation review board! WTH

They beat: Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia on four consecutive Saturdays in 1924.

I'm not a fan at all of forfeiting games. It sends a bad message to everyone and especially the students.
#15
We must agree to disagree!

I think it would send a GREAT message to KHSAA. Fix this ignorant playoff system!!
#16
So, let’s just say they do let Coach Parks go after the season.

Who is going to want that job?

I suppose the current administration is going to make Clevenger tell them no. I don’t suspect he’d leave Somerset for that but it is his Alma mater and would be coming back to a different superintendent that he knows. And they fact that Somerset and Danville would be in a different district so you really wouldn’t t see them until playoffs.

But outside of that, where do they turn?

I think the door has slammed shut on Clevenger. He packed up and moved his family to Somerset. Don't think he comes back unless he gets a LOT of incentives but that may not be enough either.

Lots of people are not going to want the job but that's why its admin's job + the super to make the offer interesting. Sam Harp didn't want it back in the late 1980s and turned Danville down three times before accepting.

New Super was not a Clevenger fan.  So no chance he even gets a call I wouldn't think.
