I thought it was round 3 they could meet, according to the RPI seeding and bracket?

I think it will go like this: Boyle will be the 1 and Corbin will be the 2nd highest seed at that round 3 pairing for districts 5-8. I think the most likely round 3 matchup for Corbin will be Ashland and Boyle vs Cov Cath/Johnson Central.

Yep. That’s what I’m seeing right now. If they can get by Ashland at home in round 3. Corbin will have a date with Boyle in round 4 at Boyle.

The only way Corbin can avoid Boyle in round 4 is for Franklin County or Paducah Tilghman to lose in one of the first 3 rounds.  That would move them up a notch in the re seeding for round 4.

I think I would have a better chance at hitting the lottery again than for either of those two teams to lose before round 4 in the West.  Smile

I agree 100%.  I'll say that the first 3 games will all be running clocks for both teams.

This definitely won't be like the infamous mud bowl back in '79 that Corbin won 6-5 in one of the wilder finishes that I can remember. Corbin stopped Russell three times inside their own 2 yard-line in the final minute and got the ball back on downs at the 1. Fumbled exchange on the potential game-ending dive play to run out the clock gave the Lakers a safety with around 10 seconds to play. Think they got the free kick after the safety back to around the Corbin 30 and missed a long field goal on the last play of the game.

I'll take Corbin in a clock runner, but congrats to Russell County for getting back to a competitive level after really struggling the last three years.
