If I am looking at it right and I may not be but if the favorites win and get to the 3rd round I don’t believe Pikeville and Raceland can play until the finals now that’s assuming they keep winning which is a big question mark right now or at least for me

How about a Paris upset over Sayre? I don’t think it happens but it’s possible.
Now that would make Raceland host Paris, while Hazard host Pikeville.

Raceland isn't knocking off Pikeville unless Pikeville allows a kick return TD and has 2 or more turnovers. Which can happen. How a team with all the talent Pikeville has is last in the world in kick return TD differential every year is beyond me. Raceland will get a huge dose of Anthony next time and it will be ugly for them, again.

I actually have a lot of respect for Raceland. Passionate fans, players who play hard, and a good staff from my observation. They are going to get one but I don’t think it’s this year without help from Pikeville but the Panthers have shown they are willing to help at times and they’ve had a ton of injuries this season.

But 82 yards. What's Raceland going to do when he has 25 carries?
Here is the things you’re forgetting. The QB situation has changed since that game. Waller threw it 25 times against LCA, he had zero sacks taken. 18/25 passing. When Waller entered the game in Week 3 against Pikeville he went 5/8 for 65 and a TD and a Raceland went on a 13-0 run. The Rams offense is light years ahead of where it was weeks 1-5. Ison moving to WR is big as well because now you cannot double Arnett and face an unpredictable passing attack. Raceland is not going to just line up and run it up the middle like they have in the past against Pikeville.
Also, Rowsey was out in the last meeting and is another big weapon in the passing game.
Anthony played on defense the whole game last time. Raceland still had almost 250 yards of offense, 156 of it rushing.
Raceland is starting to get healthy, and Pikeville is somewhat too, but they are dealing with some injuries to some key guys. If Pikeville comes back to Raceland, thinking it’s a guaranteed win for the Panthers is a mistake.
Regardless, lots of stuff to play out and a long ways to go. These two teams overlooking their other opponents could cost them. One game at a time.

One game at a time is the key for just about all of 1A after this first round. This season has had a “what the hell just happened” feel to it all year. Someone is going to take an unexpected loss I have a feeling. I think 1A is settling back down from the Covid holdbacks, etc, and becoming a little more competitive as a result. I don’t expect as many blow outs from the 2nd round on.

I'll be interested in the potential Sayre vs Paris 2nd round game if both teams advance. Paris may be able to cause some issues for Sayre.

I watched Sayre/Berea and Sayre/Bracken County and here’s what I saw.
Berea is not a very good football team. Even so, they had some success with 3-5 yard runs off tackle against Sayre. A team with better athletes at RB, would have busted some of those for big plays.
Bracken CO’s RB Tarter went for 137 vs the Spartans and he isn’t nearly as physical as even Marushi from Raceland and he isn’t anywhere near as fast as Stiltner, or maybe even Arnette. And nowhere near the caliber of RB that Anthony or Kingston are, from Pikeville. That spells big problems for Sayre against either team. Cross from Cville is a much better back than Tarter as well, imo. And both Raceland and Pikeville are way stronger upfront. Sayre will have to throw for 350+ yards, imo, and I mean that literally, to be within two scores of Raceland or Pikeville. I haven’t seen Cville or KCD enough to put them there yet.
Sayre has improved upfront, but are still a good ways away from being able to hang with Raceland or Pikeville.

I watched the KCD and Campbellsville game and I don’t know how good they are but they definitely have some size and I think they can Compete with Raceland and Pikeville especially at their house but it may not matter every team has to get that far before it’s a issue

For sure. This seems like a year that someone can lay and egg at any given time lol

Is Pikeville ever healthy?
11-05-2024, 10:57 AM
Very few teams are 100% this time of year, but Pikeville has really been hit with the injury bug pretty hard this year it seems. I think that is part of their “issues” offensively. There has been a lack of cohesive play on that side of the ball all year. Same situation at times on defense. Not to say that Pikeville hasn’t been able to keep the ball rolling, but they definitely have not looked like the seamless Pikeville offenses we have seen in the past couple of years. Pikeville has always had superior talent during their run. This year is no different. But they haven’t been able to have all the talent together at one time and the lack of being able to consistently hand the ball to 35 15+ times a game has affected their offensive production. To me, their offense this year has looked a lot like Racelands the last couple of years. And that’s if the ground and pound game isn’t rolling they have struggled a bit against the better teams on their schedule. They got a lot of pieces back last week though. So I expect them to be a different animal by the regional round.
11-05-2024, 11:34 AM
They are sand bagging waiting for Super Bowl 2.
11-05-2024, 01:40 PM
They actually lost 2 more against Boyd and both may be for the rest of the year. Still down a receiver/corner for the year who the Rams were introduced to. May get a defensive starter back this week or next.
11-05-2024, 01:46 PM
If there is sandbagging, it can't be any worse than running up a 65-0 score using 24 players from a 57 player roster.

1. Sayre can beat up on the weaklings in the state all they want, but as someone said earlier, that defense will get shredded by a power running attack. Pikeville/Raceland/Cville/KCD/Hazard has the front dudes to scorch that bunch. Now Pennington has a killer arm, and I fully expect a shootout loss on their horizon.
2. If someone beats pikeville, it’s on the road in round 4. I don’t see how that bunch can travel to kroger and not win.
3. Hazard is double digit points better than williamsburg, so i would just expect the RPI outcomes that happen after that.

If Hazard beats Williamsburg, Pikeville most likely gets Sayre, KCD and their home field of Kroger? They would have to really lay a major egg to blow that setup.
