#1
What’s the deal with kids transferring out of Russell to Chapmanville?

Who went to Chapmanville?
#3
Kids plural? Like more than one kid to Chapmanville?
#4
Umm…maybe families moved?? I mean ….every transfer isn’t sports driven.

Three kids from Russell went to Chapmanville. Two of them would have played major minutes for them. A couple freshman and a Junior. They hadn’t been at Russell for any significant amount of time. One was there a year and the other two had came at the end of last year. If Neel and Rimmer leave one would have to think something is up there.

Neel is at Ashland

Had heard that. Hadn’t seen anything for sure. I’m sure Rimmer will be at Ashland too.

So you're saying these kids that left Russell haven't been there very long in the first place?

The Brothers came from WV to Russell a year ago and returning due to some other personal issues. Neel we all know was recruited by a coach on the Ashland staff.

I could be wrong (and I have been before) but the kids that have left Russell are all kids that were brought in the past few years for basketball. I don't believe any of those kids came up through Russell's system. Sometimes kids move on if it is not a good fit.

The glass is half full. I like the positive outlook and you are correct, kids and parents have tough decisions to make and sometimes it doesn't work out the way they envisioned.

You have to be careful though saying things like "kids that were brought in the past few years for basketball" because there are a lot of half empty people on here that would be quick to assume that you are recruiting.

Do you mean the free rent Ashland gives their recruits? LOL
I am sure that is why you made a post about the eligibility rules. Being an Ashland fan that you are and being caught numerous times for recruitment. You better get familiar how to try and beat the rule.

I would say a lot of teams get a kid or possibly two on a basketball team for whatever reason...It is the blatant recruitment of kids and trying to pouch kids from other schools with false promises is another issue. Ashland is guilty of it and received probation for two years. Here they are again as soon as they come off probation recruiting other kids. Really bad look on the program and school. What is that saying for the basketball and sports community at the school and the kids that go there.

LOL. Comical and sad at the same time.

Ryan is a quality human being and you shouldn't be questioning his character. If you think you know something be a man and report it through the proper channels. If something comes of it then get on here and talk away. Otherwise don't use anonymity to throw stuff out there. It shows a real flaw in your character.

I don't think there is much anonymity with this guy at this point

I agree. Those guys getting caught again for recruiting are idiots to put it mildly.

Hearing Neel's dad tried to force himself on the coaching staff and the HC wasn't having it, thus the move. If that's true I have respect for Coach Cooksey.

Watching him when we played Russell…he’s an embarrassment for any program. Flexing and acting like a fool…seems like overcompensation to me.

He has tried to force himself on the bench. What you’re calling a move is recruiting by an Ashland coach. It has been reported and video sent. The word is he will be in an ohio school once he gets ruled ineligible by khsaa. He has lived in ohio while he was at Russell the entire time. He has not moved.

Dads that try to force themselves on the bench are the worst.

I totally agree

I’ve heard the only dad that forced himself on the bench is one chasing kids away so his son will be the star. 5 kids have left and talk is that more are possibly leaving. Looks like Cooksey followed the boyd blueprint and is losing kids because of it

Let’s look at the 5 BC kids at Ashland. Let’s start with the most recent and work back. The most recent is DS who was recruited by BL and JC at the country club speaking with his dad and brother. This is a funny twist the entire junior class knows at BC. The Dad/brother of DS coached the middle school program that forced CC and CD to Ashland and ran off all but two players in that class due to crazy dad/brother. TL would never start at BC. His dad knew that as well as DS. RD was recruited by JM as we all know from the audio recording. You try to cover all that up under your current recruiting issue with EN. BC and Russell have similarities. Ashland actively recruiting their developed talent with BB JS and DS EN currently and coaches who don’t bend their knee to money or politics. Ashland needs to clean house. It’s another black eye on the community, school, and program. With addition to all their new crazy dads in combination of their current crazy dads that is a powder keg about to explode.
