Great game, congrats cats.. Martin co played a good game as well.
#3
How bout it!!!
#4
Great game. Double props to Hager and his staff, especially going for two late.
#5
Just keep getting disrespected and keep getting better. #HailBlackcats
#6
Hager takes the risk and the Blackcats win… Martin played great, was an amazing game for both sides. Martin started strong defensively but the effort seemed to die down. Don’t be surprised if a few join the Blackcats in the upcoming year.
#7
Congratulations Prestonsburg. Your new coach is working wonders this year.
#8
Ballsy call by Hager and score by Hatfield on that 2 pointer... Good game by both teams

Yeah I don’t think it was much of a secret that Maynard was on the fence this summer about transferring. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some of Hager’s old boys join the party.

Yeah Prestonsburg will be good up front and on the defensive side of the ball next year, i’ve heard he and others were on the fence of moving, as well as some from around the region, if they can replace Harris and Elliott offensively, next year can be scary.

Maybe he spent that time in June working on the playbook........................

These two teams will likely end up playing for a regional title come november.
#13
They just keep winning. Congrats to Pburg.

I think PBurg’s weak schedule finally gets exposed next week. I can guarantee they won’t win.

Maynard was never leaving guys, him and Hager have never gotten along. Congratulations to the Blackcats on the win tonight.

Wes Hager is that dude. That’s really all you can say at this point. These boys play so hard for him and they never quit and this team continues to play their best football late in games. That’s hard work in the weight room and conditioning paying off.

Martin County played a great football game. They stopped Pburg’s base offense, they forced two early turnovers, but when Prestonsburg switched to the wildcat with Elliott it started opening up running lanes for him and Harris to do their thing. They had big time runs in crucial situations late in this game. Pburg defense played a really good game, just give up 3 long plays, two being on cutbacks by Watts & Maynard. Those two are deadly in the open field. Martin County’s defense deserves credit. They’re good.

The call to go for two was super ballsy and it paid off for Hager. I love the way this guy thinks and his confidence in his ability as a coach is contagious. His players would absolutely do anything for him. He’s rebuilding this program at an incredible rate. The support from top to bottom for this program right now is unbelievable.

Hats off to Martin County. They were definitely the best team Prestonsburg has played this season. Best of luck on the rest of your schedule. May see these guys again.

Hail Blackcats!!!

This is what an enthusiastic and excited coach brings to a program. Pburg is playing inspired football and it’s showing around town. It’s good to see.

If Pburg gets 2-3 good players transfer in with maybe a good qb, they will be very scary next year. As long as Hager don’t get a bigger opportunity somewhere else, Pburg will be looking good

The current Qb is just fine, he’s 16 if that, they just need to replace Elliot and Harris and they can be region champs next year.

Martin County was one bad play, one penalty, or one missed tackle from pulling off the win. If they’d do some in game adjustments and use their best playmakers they would have put this game away. Watts should be touching the ball as much as Maynard. Congrats to Wes from this Martin Co fan. You were the best coach last night. Coaching won this game as the boys on both teams played an awesome game.

wouldnt set my sight on the region unfortunately there is a juggernaut coming down that has a chance in 3a and only graduates one or two starters.....

The big red machine has the best chance for a 2a swipe next year!! They have a really good chance to make it to Kroger this year also
#27
Belfry will rule the region in 2A next year. They return 95% of their contributions from this year. They’d running clock anyone in 2A D7 or D8 right now. Heck Lawrence County would win either of those districts right now and Belfry just running clocked them.

There is a reason why Belfry chooses to play up in 3A every year... 3A is easier to make it to a state championship by far. They play in 3A to stay away from the Recruiting Catholic/Independent Schools that are always there in 1A and 2A!! Mayfield/Beechwood/LCA/Owensboro Catholic

Very low bar. Will be very cool seeing Belfry vs the Big 4 in 2A though. Big 4 becomes the Big 5.

Not true. A lot of years Belfry has won a state title they’d won it in 2A too. Heck I’d say 4A and 5A back in 2015 and 2016.
