Why is Corbin Not Boyle County ???

I will say this though.  The Boyle Folk aren’t giving Haddix near the credit he deserves.    Chuck wasn’t gonna leave a team he could win 4-5 more championships with.  Believe that.  No coach in the history of the game willingly does that.

Boyle keeps talkin like that he may be right back to where I can see him from the porch. Or on TV.

If you think that anyone posting on here about Chuck Smith building a winning culture is a knock to Haddix then you have missed the point. Also if you think anyone that even remotely carries any weight with the BC football program is not giving Haddix the credit he deserves then you need to come to BC and spend a little time around the program. It is true Smith built a winning culture at BC and a very strong one. However after his departure the first and second time there have been two head coaches come in and win titles using their own brand of football. Haddix is not Chuck Smith and Chuck Smith is not Haddix. They are both two of the best the state has produced and fortunately for BC they have both planed roots here. Fact is I am certain Coach Haddix has had chances to leave and didn't which would indicate that he is not under appreciated. I also highly doubt he looks for accreditation in HS football forums from armchair coaches.

The answer to this thread is a no brainer!!!!

Who will be the next big round of tri-county athletes or SC KY kids to be drawn into each program and what will be done with them to win more titles?

Some Of Boyles Best Players are Homegrown talent they have only taken a few transfers over the last few years

Simple answer.

Boyle FINDS a way to win BIG GAMES, Corbin does not. Granted Corbin did knock Boyle out in 2018 but found a way to lose in the State Championship.

IF Corbin found a way to win that game in 2018 (vs. Central) or had a different outcome against Boyle in the 2017 finals, then I honestly feel like Corbin would be CLOSER to Boyle County (and maybe still have Haddix) but lets face it they will NEVER be Boyle County.

Corbin fans: Go fishing!

Throw a line or two in the water, forget about football and Haddix! Relax by the banks of the Cumberland River and catch some trophy Brown and Rainbow Trout  Blush

Going fishing is my standard advice for most of life's problems!

Pretty good advice  Wink

I understand that OSH.

I normally start in April and fish regularly until the middle or end of June.  By then it's normally too hot for me thru summer.  Normally go during night if I go during summer.

I pick back up around fall until it gets so cold I can't handle it lol

Corbin football has good athletes on a yearly basis.  Really like the new coach you have now.  It's just a matter of time until you get a state championship.  Myself being a JC fan,  we know what it's like going on a long stretch without a state championship. We went over 50 years,  more than that counting before JC was formed outta those other schools.

It doesn't hurt that Boyle has reciprocal agreements with 13 surrounding school districts.
Their district website did list all districts they had reciprocal agreements with, now it is ...
Thank you for your interest in Boyle County Schools. Students in grades K-12 living outside of the district may attend BCS by applying for admission to our nonresident program. Admission is first-come, first-served, up to the Boyle County Board of Education established capacity limits at each grade level.......

Smith and Haddix are hands down 2 of the best coaches to ever come out of eastern ky, however lets give Larry French some credit also. Took over the Boyle co job in 2008 after they just had a 5-7 season and second round exit in the playoffs for the second year in a row under Chris Pardue. And year 1 they went 13-1 only losing to eventual state champs in the semi finals. Then the 09 and 10 season where undefeated back to back state champions. Also he's 3rd all time in the state when it comes to wins. And for anyone that wants to say it was chuck smiths left overs he won with doesnt know what they're talking about. Smith had been gone going on 4 years when French first arrived and Boyle wasn't Boyle for those 3 seasons coached in between Larry and Chuck.

You mentioned seigning minnows.  That's a lot of fun and we still do that a lot. Funny story, last year me and my oldest brother were seigning a creek.  Getting bait for catfish.  We come to a hole of water running under a rock ledge.  My brother took the edge of the bank and I took the rock ledge side.

We were wading through there and my side just kept getting deeper and deeper.  It got to where I couldn't touch the bottom and I had to start swimming.  Holding the net with one arm and swimming with the other! Looked over at my brother,  he was only in knee deep water, laughing at me! Lol

To make matters worse I'd forgotten to take my phone outta my pocket.  It got fried and never worked again! Big Grin

Winter is some of the best fishing times.  I just struggle with the cold at times.  I even dread deer hunting because of the cold at times  Big Grin

Smile I got to tell one myself, I am a old drum fisherman and we would fish at the headwaters just below Cumberland Falls. So we would go in certain creeks around the area and seine crawdads to use for bait. What we would do is go as far as you could  to where you cant take a boat right when school lets out when it starts to get real hot and they start growling and fish in the center of the river with heavy weights and load the boat. Caught some big ones using that method. Done that for years.

That Cumberland River is one of the prettiest places on the face of the earth.  World class fishing.

Cumberland Falls was the first trip my wife and I took,  where we stayed overnight.  That's a special place to us both.

The effective size of Boyle County dwarfs Corbin's, as does the winning tradition. The reciprocity agreements with surrounding counties is another advantage. Boyle County draws enough talent to consistently compete on a 6A level. No other 4A school can match that consistency.

Me too Welcome back Hoot…Bottom line is this, as an outsider looking in Boyle Co strives for perfection in everything they go at, they want to win in the classroom as well as the football field….Corbin does too but somewhere along the lines jealousy, nepotism, and personal egos have outweighed the necessity of how we perform…I just never see or here of all the infighting at Boyle Co

Boyle County emerged in 1842 as a partition from neighboring Lincoln and Mercer counties. From this moment on, the county was limited in how far west it could extend. Knox County formed out of portions of Lincoln County in 1799, but there was still a good distance between the two sites. Corbin is a city situated amongst three counties: Whitley, Knox, and Laurel. Although originating as Lynn Camp Station, the town became incorporated as Corbin in 1905. At this point, it was far too late to be Boyle County as Kentucky's county borders were pretty well defined. (Sorry OSH, I had to do it).

In all seriousness, I think a team's success can usually be condensed to three things: geographic location, culture, and a supportive administration. If a team struggles, it is usually because a piece of this puzzle is missing. I'm not from Corbin, so I can't comment specifically on what is wrong with the program or why they aren't achieving what Boyle achieves. I grew up hearing stories about Corbin, and I'm rooting for them to have as much success as possible. I'll go further, if I get to where I go to many games again, I hope to make the trip over to Corbin and see their stadium!

HAHAHAHA, you should definitely check out the stadium when able. they will do a second phase on the stadium at the end of this season that will consist of new visitor stands and press boxes. I've heard the visitor stands will be nice with the a visitor locker room below it.

Boyle has definitely and consistently been getting talent from Danville and the surrounding areas for several years now. However, talent from outside the district isn't how the program was built nor the foundation for most of the success. Yes - the last few years with Quisenberry and the Browns and others makes it look like Boyle is all about brining in top talent. And maybe they are these days, but that is not WHY Boyle is a successful program and has been for almost 30 years now. It's only a significant part of the success the last few years.

Agreed. The out of district players have been the main reason for Boyle County's dominance of 4A the past few seasons. Without them, Boyle County would still have been a top contender and may have won multiple titles but the out of district players have made winning titles look easy.

I've seen several people commenting on Boyle's location being a big advantage. I'm not sure I get what is so great about the location. Can somebody enlighten me?

The advantage is this, Boyle County has great athletic facilities, a great coaching staff, a very good academic resume (for a public county system), and one of the top winning traditions in the state. What really gives them the edge over schools like Corbin is the population density of the surrounding area and the number of nearby schools that lack its academic and athletic reputation. That is a large pool of available talent and Boyle County is an obvious destination for talented athletes to bask in the glory of state championships.

Maybe that's because Boyle County is so small geographically. The distance from the neighboring counties to the school isn't very far. But outside of that, we're talking basically about Harrodsburg, Burgin, Lancaster, Stanford and Liberty, right (Mercer, Garrard, Lincoln, Casey)? Those aren't exactly large cities so I'm not sure how large the pool actually is.
