Pikeville 16 Raceland 13
#31
The problem I think now is the RPI. Cville will be #1 and Pikeville and Raceland 2 &3, therefore a semi final matchup.

Perhaps I was speaking pre for Raceland in that regard because let’s be real the Raceland teams since 2021 have been loaded with adults.  This team actually looks like high school kids.

I was really impressed with Raceland for several reasons. They look good and have a higher ceiling this year being so young with all the new faces in starting roles.
I agree with that.  I look for them to keep improving each week and to be a tough out by the end of the season.  We still have Hazard, NCC, and Paris left on the schedule.  Those games will tell us a lot about what 1A looks like overall.  For now though we have to survive the trip to Ft Thomas next week.

Meanwhile Pikeville and Raceland play tough schedules and lose some games and everyone wants to write them off.
I don’t know about that I say Campbellsville will have something to say about that which in my opinion was as good as Raceland or better last year plus Raceland has Hazards at Hazard so I wouldn’t be thumping my chest at playing Pikeville close and getting a moral victory which don’t count in RPI and I am going say it again neither of these two impressed me last night now I know Raceland is young but Pikeville with all their experience is really a big let down from years past and yes something is missing and I personally think it’s heart hopefully they will look in the mirror and start taking responsibility for their play which is bad and that’s me being kind

Sorry about that my emotions have the best of me watching that not so good game last night but thanks Ric

Not time to panic yet P1! Cut out the hold on the TD and the turnovers and it's a 28 or 35-0 game. Pikeville hasn't come close to putting it all together for 4 quarters yet. If and when they do look out they will look like Pikeville again. This coming Friday against Belfry would be the perfect time.

Corbin's win over Pikeville just doesn't look all that damn good now.

Any win over Pikeville is a very good win. Corbin needs to come to Pikeville.

Highlands going to be mad after losing to Ryle. But you're right and hopefully no injuries to either team. Game has no bearing on 2024 Class A.

They'd get lost on the way there.

Pikeville in trouble or Raceland pretty good?

Congrats to Pikeville on the win. Gonna have to clean up those fundamental mistakes.

I was looking at the scores from the 2019 season and that gave me a different perspective from last night.

In September of that season Pikeville beat Paintsville 9-8 and Raceland 12-6.  At that point in the season there were probably naysayers who said Pikeville couldn’t win that year but not only did they win a title but they curb stomped a Paintsville team who almost beat them a few months earlier.

Was last night the best performance by Pikeville, probably not but history has proven that you don’t win titles in September.  Last night was an opportunity for both teams to figure out what they need to do to make it deep in the playoffs again.  Pikeville will be fine as will Raceland as long as this game is seen for what it is and that is a chance to get reps and prepare for November.

My perspective today is the same perspective I had before the game was played. Raceland has a ton of upside and if the passing game develops, can beat anyone in 1A right now not named Pikeville. I say that bc I simply don’t know if anyone in class A can stop 35. I’d love to see the final stats from last night, bc without him, Pikeville had 1 yard rushing in the first half. Pikeville scored on a big play on the screen and Anthony broke the long run. Other than that, the Pikeville offense didn’t look much different than what the Raceland offense has looked the last few years. Joker, Counter, Lead, Bubble, Fox off the bubble…

I would say it’s all Anthony but after thinking on it, it makes no sense, Duty had a career night in yardage against LCA. Why was that not the game plan against a Raceland team that has spent the last decade giving up big plays over the middle? That was the most surprising part of the night for me.

I was also concerned last night about the Pikeville strength program. Still extremely strong and explosive, but it seemed like a lot of Pikeville guys were cramping and or going down with leg issues. Not the norm for them. Just alot of things look different about the Panthers this year. Other than managing to beat my rams yet again…

Nope. Same ole putty tats. The mystique is wearing off.

Hopefully Pikeville can get a win against Belfry. Ironton may be the best team on Pikevilles schedule. It’s gonna be tough sledding the next few weeks for Pikeville

I’m watching Ironton play tonight and they very well could put a running clock on Pikeville. That’s not trying to be disrespectful to Pikeville but Ironton is just that good this year.

Ironton is thrashing everyone in their path. Yikes.

They are playing a team from New York tonight and they are beating them 42-0 and it’s not even halftime yet.

I was very excited about the Ironton game a few weeks ago lol. Now no running clock is a moral victory and 50/50 at best.

I looked up the team they are playing tonight and they aren’t beating up on a scrub. That team was ranked 9th in New York and Ironton thrashed them. I would be very surprised if they don’t win the Ohio state title in their division.

Next few weeks?

Corbin
Johnson Central
LCA

Raceland

Belfry
Ironton

Toughest first 6 weeks in the history of Class A and probably 2A and 3A and right up there with the toughest ever in all classes.

Losing always sucks lol but super proud and if Pikeville does win another championship this year it will be one for the ages.

They are #1 in their division on Calpreps so it wouldn't be a surprise.

That’s a beast of a schedule.  Not to get in a pissing contest but I would call Raceland’s schedule a close second in terms of difficulty with Ashland, Pikeville, Highlands, and LCA in the line up.  We also have potential 1A contenders Hazard and NCC coming up as well.  It’s a shame RPI is going to punish both of our teams for playing up on schedule to get better.

It’s mostly because their head coach gave up the play book

Me either. Because the two teams that could beat them aren’t in division 5 anymore. Kirtland and Perry
