Belfry at Southwestern 9/13

Belfry vs Southwestern. Thoughts?

Belfry all night long

Belfry rolls.

Belfry takes care of business.

Belfry probably won’t roll but they’ll win. Southwestern’s defense is good enough to win games but their offense can’t keep the defense off the field.

I think you will learn a lot about belfry Friday night…… for better or for worse we will see
#10
Belfry will roll in this one. Southwestern isn’t good enough in the box to slow down Belfry’s run game, they will control the possession time and wear SW out down the field. Combine that with offensive struggles from SW and it could get demoralizing pretty quickly. Belfry 38-7

If Belfry Rolls in this one like many of you think,.........is Foleys seat getting warm.

Probably a solid question. Southwestern’s upfront schedule is crazy this year with the wins coming on the back end. I’d say Foley has done enough since getting the job to buy him some grace. Now they have to win the most winnable games to keep from imploding this season.

Good athletes in that area of state but pretty sure they have rebuilding years like almost every other public country school. Foley ain’t going anywhere unless he wants to.

I don’t think his seat gets warm. Although it doesn’t help that the other teams in the same county are having success with new coaches. I think there’s a lot of frustration inside that program right now not just because of losses but because they feel the tides are turning against them. I know a few kids have left the team 2 games in, so it makes you wonder what is going on!

Belfry, comfortably.

Everyone is saying easily belfry
The core of this belfry group are now juniors and several of them are in their 2nd and 3rd year starting… they have yet to prove they can finish games and win on tough road trips…… Friday night is an important step for this group to show that the “youth” talk over the last 2 years wasn’t exaggerated and they are good enough to compete

I'll take Belfry.

Belfry has some issues at safety and the secondary in my opinion. Poor tackling and a size disadvantage at safety. Will we make a change? Doubtful. Continued prayers for Colton Whitt and his recovery on his femur

From what I’ve been told Colton came through the surgery well and should make a full recovery.

What would be your size requirement at safety?  And if Belfry is depending on their safetys to make all the tackles they're screwed anyway.

Belfry is just way too much for Southwestern!! The Pirates are making a long drive to hand out an overwhelming beating.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be a certain size but Belfry, in my opinion has a better option on the side line.  The safety they are using isn’t a big hitter or a  hawk.   He’s a dive  at the ankles kid who honestly leaves it on the field.  Just feel they have a better option with a more athletic kid who has been rotating some.   I think this will show more in the Pikeville game as their receivers all have a height advantage over our secondary.

Excellent point.  Throughout many past seasons....Belfry continued to deliver wins on the road with large numbers of soph and junior laden starting rosters.  This has not been the case in the last 2-3 seasons.  This game is a great opportunity for these kids to go on the road and get a quality win...while displaying leadership and building some confidence throughout the roster.    They have to limit their turnovers and penalties.....and also keep their focus when things get a little sideways.   talent goes a long way....but mental toughness is the key to unlocking untapped potential.

It will be interesting to see how these kids handle the road trip .

From what I've watched on TV, Belfry's safety's are small, but their corners at least 5'10 and maybe even 6' or bigger. And again if the tackles aren't made before they get to the little safetys, the problem appears to be before the runners get to the little safety. Some use their size to tackle, some use their wits. It seems both need improvement.

Southwestern has only scored 6 points in 2 games. Belfry has given up at least 26 in all 3 games that they have played. Both teams have played good competition. I think Belfry finds enough offense to win this one 28-14.

Continued prayers for Colton, his brother was always in the hospital throughout highschool just like he is now and the past 2 years. Some are saying he’s gonna hang it up after this but I hope not! Heck of a ball player since he was put in a belfry jersey. Please keep praying for this kid.

Southwestern was 9-4 last year beat by Cooper in the 2nd round. Cooper played in the 5A state championship. In 2023 Southwestern made it to state semifinals. Is this coaches job really on the line? If so a lot of schools would take that for the last two years. Did Southwestern lose a lot from last years team? What is Dumphord doing for SW they don't have stats posted yet.

Anyone know if there will be any live stream of this game

Southwestern gets embarrassed 42-14
