He should go to Corbin. I don’t think they have much guard play returning.

Some argued last year he should have been a top 10 player in the region. I thought that was a little high, but I'd surprised if he couldn't start anywhere in the region.

Wburg as you know is where he began his HS career. I would think that would be his best landing spot if he transfers. But yes he could start at a lot of 13th schools but not the 2 I mentioned(09-06-2024, 05:36 PM)shottaker23 Wrote:(09-06-2024, 05:29 PM)Keystone12 Wrote: He should go to Corbin. Yes, I understand. Not a big deal, and I usually agree with your basketball points, but I don't think South or North have three better guards than Roark. I'm not saying he's better than Mabe or Davidson, but Roark was Clay's second best player for much of that semifinal game against HC last March. Probably a moot point anyway because it would be very unusual to transfer a month into your senior year.

I forgot about Akins. he was solid for an 8th grader. I saw him at the football game and he looks like he has grown a couple inches. the 6'3" Malachi brown kid will be a game changer but he can't get cleared. Dawson farmer will be another good freshman for Corbin.

Roark handled the ball for Clay about 80% of the time last year and handed it well. I think a lot of people underestimate the value of a player you can hand the ball too and feel confident that he can take care of the ball. He got to the basket almost at will last year even without a consistent perimeter shot. He’s quick and a very good defender as well. If his perimeter shot and FT shooting improved from last year he’ll be very, very difficult to defend. Not sure what the story is but hopefully he’s able to stay at Clay for his senior season.

He is not taking Rawllings position nor Brown/Howard because they shoot the 3 and space the floor well. Same for NL, he is not taking Jervis nor Jordan Rawlings position for the same reason. Roark is a nice player and I KNOW that feelers where sent prior to the Clay move and their was zero interest by either program. And as far as the transfer(same thing last year with a different Clay kid that the superintendant got involved with a salvaged the situation so while unusual it does happen)it sounds like you may not know what happened. I suggest checking WYMT if you don't know--pretty messy situation and I would think(and have heard) that a move is imminent. Maybe not, its all rumors until the season starts. The thing I want to know from you is since it is your area, did a Harlan city kid trans to HC and now go back to city?

That is what the fire in Redhound nation comment from earlier in the summer was alluding to. Corbin this year will be a above average team but not what they are accumstomed to in my opinion.(09-06-2024, 05:36 PM)shottaker23 Wrote:If the Brown kid from WV ever gets eligible, he could be nice addition for Coach P. No, not that I've heard.
