Perry Central 52 Breathitt county 35
#1
21 years and no signs of ever ending

I know I said I was taking a reprieve from Perry threads but I just can’t miss a good popcorn moment after the last thread.

Breathitt played hard but Perry was just the better team.

Perry is now 11-3 vs Breathitt all-time with 11 straight wins.

Congratulations to Perry Central

Let’s hear the excuses this week….

AD and B put on a show

Flashing lights new uniforms

Still displayed a poor product out in the field with Mike on the sideline with a headset on.

Perry was better than I expected. 40 is a stud. He just needs to get a belt or get some smaller pants. Would had 100 more yards if he could kept his pants on. Perry is HUGE. Them boys on the Oline are monsters.

For the typical Zaga recap, Breathitt dugv themselves into a hole early and Perry scored a defensive touchdown to take a 21-0 lead.

Breathitt clawed back and cut it to 8 before the half, but Perry scored quick and got the ball back to start the second half and scored quickly. Perry had several big plays and I think that was the difference.

Gibson with several big runs, Johnson and Fields with several big connections, Combs was a steady hand all night and it was nice to see Deaton out there at fullback.

Breathitt has a bright future with the freshmen in the backfield. They have a lot of speed. I’m a big Braxton Terry fan and I’d like to see him get the ball in his hands more.
#7
This is what I predicted. Breathitt just don’t have the players they use to. They have some young promising players but this is the outcome I expected. Perry’s QB Johnson played way better than I expected. Congrats to them
#8
The glaring question that needs to be asked: what is going on with Breathitt’s defense. They have allowed 108 points in two games. I remember entire seasons when the Bobcats never gave up that many points.
#9
What was up with the person running the clock. Awful. But he tried to keep Breathitt in the game by stopping it when it was supposed to be running lol
#10
Not 100% sure they weren’t just going by what the officials were signaling on the field.
#11
Bet breathitt wishes they hadn't let Tyson an ad slip off to Perry after that game
#12
After slow start Breathitt's offense looked good. Hollon reminds me of Doug Flutie out on the field with him being so small. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see him lasting the year without getting injured.
Defense was horrible. Missed tackles everywhere. Combs brothers absence was shown last night.
This team has a long way to go if they are going to compete with Somerset who just beat Perry by 40.
#13
Is Breathitt that bad or is Perry much better than advertised? Did someone call the O for Perry last night? Looked much smoother than Id saw it before.
#14
Some terrible defense on both sides. But glad we came out of there with a win.

Blame it on the coaching staff Perry drinking hazards backwash and sense no one else will …. I would like to congratulate Derrick Fields on a very successful game kid made some big time catches he always puts out 110% on AND off the field

As did the rest of the TEAM jet! TEAM! Ad played better than I expected if combs and gibson can keep playing like last night they win more games than I expected defense needs a little work other than that might be alright.

It’s a shame we can’t beat Perry. I feel the last years we should have beat them and I thought the same coming into this one. Perry was the better team. Hollan over shot a few balls that would been TDs if those were caught coulda swung the game maybe. Perry is big like some mention just whipped us all night and everytime the bobcats scored Perry had an answer. We should bounce back next week against Lewis.
#18
My thoughts on this. Ran off AD and Bryson to Perry Co. AD was the MVP of the game! Bryson was probably the leading tackler on defense. All because the coach dads. Great job Bobcats!! Nothing changes till it’s changed at the top! No discipline either!

Jet found out that #1 from Leslie is the real Superman and #4 is just like Robin to Batman over there.

I’ve said what I said. As far as Perry , great win and glad we playing better but our defense is atrocious and beating Breathitt isn’t a great accomplishment. And as far as Leslie goes, Collett had a great game, and let’s be real Noah getting so much attention opens it up for the run game, our passing game will show up next game and they now showing they will be able to compete for the district..

Keep it on topic, folks.
This is the Breathitt-Perry thread.

I think people seemed to look at that Somerset game and just write off the rest of Perry’s season. A lot of doubters in the prediction thread that are pretty quiet now. While this isn’t something to schedule a parade over, I think it will show the opening game of the season is an anomaly rather than the standard. Next week Perry has Lawrence who handled them pretty easily last year, but I felt like Perry was better than what they showed in that game too. A win next week and it’ll show that the Commodores are headed in the right direction.

Strong kids on the line, a couple backs in the backfield that compliment each other well, and a possession receiver like Fields will give you a shot against most everyone around here. Unfortunately they’re in a region with Corbin and Boyle so the ceiling is only so high right now.

I don’t think anyone ran off the choice was to leave. But I still think Hollan kid is Better right now. Johnson kid played good but he has roll out pocket to throw ball. Tell me his vision and reads are not fast enough to throw from pocket. But say he had nice vertical . Hollan kid has great vision never seen freshman scan field like that and got 4 years to get better. But younger brother is dandy. He going be special

Yeah defense needs a lot work. Hope you’re wrong about Hollan too . He puts on show for sure . He took couple tough hits on vs Perry. He bounced up.  He smart he protects self really well with slide. I think going have make some changes on defense

Statebound 19. Your answer about leaving. Yes. I’m gonna say you are right. They chose to leave when they were moved to 2nd string for reasons above the kids couldn’t control. Why were they moved to second string? Didn’t Hollon play in Perry Co once for the same reason? The worst thing besides being undisciplined is that parents coach. Parents need to set thier tails on the bleachers and support the team, not individuals.

Breathitt needs to be playing short term. Last state appearance was 2009. AD was the better short term solution, he proved that last Friday night. Plus, they would have kept his brother and family that have supported the program since the mid 90sl. Hollon would have been a better slot receiver maybe. He does deserve being on the field as he is an athletic kid and hard worker. Let him work his way up. Play Defense. The best QBs at Breathitt to go on and have success at the next level played Defense. Waylon and Justin. Players will play, no matter the position. Breathitt hasn’t been Breathitt football since 2010. Why? Leadership of the team, coaches and influence. The previous few years and even this year at Belfry they want to fight, play dirty and get penalties after the whistle. Pre 2010 they played between the whistles and got in the huddle to do it again. They were respected. Now they are the opposite. Can’t blame the kids. The kids will do what’s allowed. They need a coach led team for awhile, not a player led team intil they understand what Breathitt football is/was.

Congrats Perry! Maybe next time the cats won’t talk trash and give Perry all the bulletin board material the week of the game, posting pictures on social media and saying they “can't wait”. Maybe Just strap up and play the game. Old school disciplined football. Where you play the best players and they block and tackle. Between the whistle!

Breathitt County didn't have a State Championship Game appearance in 2009.  They were beaten in the Regional Championship that year by Somerset 51-33.

Looks to me like Perry mixed up the run and the pass pretty well in their game against breathitt. Thought it was none existent?

I stand corrected.  2008 against Central.  2009 lost to Somerset.   Still you get my drift.
