I think you have the 5 wins correct, Pulaski could be a 6th.

Meh,,, You must have watched the same cartoons I did on Saturday mornings....LOL. If you are right, Corbin will be in business this year on the road.
The only teams on that schedule with an even remote shot at beating Corbin this year (assuming the bottom doesn’t fall out with the new coach) would be Pikeville, Lex Cath, FD, and JC
You get those first two at home. I think you beat Lex Cath and Pikeville will be a close one. wouldn’t give JC a shot but you’re on the road.
you will lose to Freddy D.
so yea, 9-1 is the ceiling. I’ll say 8-2 as most likely after a hiccup with either Pikeville or Lex Cath, and 7-3 is absolutely worst case scenario.
Anything worse than that and I’m gonna guess Corbin burns and you’ve got a new “who’s gonna be the new coach at corbin” thread again next year
06-09-2024, 04:49 PM
I'm still saying 9-1 ... 8-2 only if they have a slip up that they shouldn't. 10-0 wouldn't be shocking.
06-09-2024, 09:37 PM
I’m saying 7-3. Hope I’m wrong but I think it’ll be more of a rebuild. Lost a lot of talent from last year. You return a lot but some of it is inexperienced. I wouldn’t be shocked with 6-4 or 8-2.
06-09-2024, 11:54 PM
Scoring shouldn’t be a problem for Corbin this year. Defense will be the problem. 7-3 record for the Redhounds

7-3
Freddy D
Johnson central
Either pikeville or Lex Cath.

Undefeated regular season would be surprising but not shocking. It takes a lot to shock me. Going to an Eagles show and seeing Henley actually singing would be shocking. I doubt the Hounds pull off the upset in Lexington but who knows what they might look like when those two teams meet. 8 or 9 wins is most likely, in my opinion. Salmons will have them ready for a Dog-Cat fight in August.

We have all sizes in our house, we will give you one.
After seeing a post by the great 64SUR warning about defense, I took a look at Corbin defense stats.
9 of top 12 tacklers gone.
Smith 1, Smith 2, Warren gone (DL?)
Baker, Neal, Lawson gone (LBs)
Curry, Gibert, Lester gone (DBs)
Mahan, Hatfield, Bates return.
So all the new guys are going to stop Anthony of Pikeville and a loaded, veteran offense in their first game? Nah...
And not buying Corbin offense wins a shootout either. Pikeville brings a terrific defense in.
That's why I have 3-4 losses. And Corbin fans are in for a huge shock going to Johnson Central. If JC is healthy look out...freight train on their home field.

I'm not in for a shock, that is the one game on Corbin's schedule that Corbin hasn't won yet. Corbin has not won at Johnson Central. I don't look for Corbin to win this year either. But if they do, it will be because the offense was on fire. I do think if Corbin beats Pikeville, you will agree that Corbin's offense was on fire and won that game by shootout and especially on the offensive side of the ball. But I will point something out. Greer is gone. He wouldn't play kids on both sides of the ball. This new coach may play kids on both sides of the ball. If he does. There is a lot of talent on the field still there. That can fill some of the missing spots in a hurry and with talent. Still lots of unknowns till we see what Corbin is actually going to do defensively for me to know how to pick. First game will tell the story.

Corbin will beat Pikeville. If I'm wrong about that, I will run onto the field like the guy who got tased last night at GABP. I might even run out there wearing just a loin cloth and "GREER SUCKS" painted on my chest .So, if we lose. I fully expect to to be tased and taken to the pokey for the night. I wonder if any of my Hound friends on here would be willing post my bail?
The guy in Cincinnati executed a perfect backflip prior to getting tased. Unfortunately for the fan wearing the Bench jersey, the cop executed a perfect tase.
Because I'm closer to Granny Bear's age than I am Bull's age , I can't promise anyone that I'll be able to execute a backflip.

If Haddix was leading the Hounds, as many of us thought would be the case, would your prediction still be leaning to 6-4? If not, what record would you predict for a Haddix-led Hounds squad?

Bull, I agree with you about the first. It's the tone-setter. If the Hounds come out and lose bigly to Pikeville, it could be a long season. I don't think that will happen. If the Hounds come out and look impressive and put a hurtin' on a very good Pikeville team, then I think a very strong regular season of at least eight or nine wins is very likely. We'll know a lot as far as whether Coach Luke has his guys buying in to what he's selling them. I think they'll play hard and well for this coach.

All this can change if they get the right players in. But until then that’s why I think 6-4. What did Corbin Lose last year on defense? You don’t just up and replace those guys with home grown kids in one season. Full moon mills and Tom didn’t play many sophomores and freshman to get them ready for a hard schedule.
Offensively we have one of the best QB in the state. But lost key recievers and a running back. We have 2 great kids back for sure. But last year we had 4-5 that could play for anyone. Question will also be. How will the new guy switch around the offense. Will Daddy Elam get mad?
Just a lot of questions! Do I think he can get them to winning 11-12 games a year? Absolutely! But year one? Frederick Douglas, Johnson Central, Lex Cath, and Pikeville are gonna be really good! I’m not betting on winning a single one of those games unless the portal gets wild!
As for Haddix coming it would be a lot different. Haddix would have brought several key pieces with him if he came. Atleast 3-4. If he didn’t bring them he would attract them with the way he coaches. The way he constantly builds up the kids. He is constantly taking them to the colleges if they aren’t coming to them. Constantly hyping them on social media and nonstop talking to college coaches on his phone. That’s a players dream! And that equates to players wanting to win even more. They want to look good, and win the big games. The kids feed off his confidence and support, like it or not. Follow him on X, instagram, Fb if you don’t believe me.
