What’s the latest on Duty?

Kid has too much Qb talent Imo, to not finish his high school career In football. Right now, he's doing what he loves with great results as pitcher #1 for Pikeville baseball. If not, #2 Qb Reynolds has a ton of talent for a Sophomore. I guess we'll just have to wait and see .

People I talk to say Duty will be there barring anything unexpected. Reynolds is great and it will eventually be his team. Great option to have that young man as #2 and pushing your #1. Pikeville is loaded for next season. Ridiculously tough schedule for a 1A team but as long as they stay healthy through it, get out of the way come playoff time.

Reynolds is a stud for sure
05-14-2024, 12:27 PM
Duty will play and Reynolds is a stud in waiting. Wouldn’t be shocked if he doesn’t get on field in some other capacity.

Reynolds work ethic is second to none....
05-16-2024, 12:48 PM
I think Reynolds will get some real snaps this year even if Duty plays. Too good of a player not to see the field.
05-16-2024, 04:21 PM
From watching Reynolds on the field, got a feeling he's gonna be one of the best quarterbacks to come through the ranks of PHS football. Agree, this kid is a stud.

Speaking of Pikeville’s plethora of QB’s, I saw what will certainly be one of their main targets the next 3 seasons in Q Warren the other night at the baseball game. Everyone outside of the maroon brothers, because they already know, is about to know about that kid real soon. Pikeville will be loaded at the skill positions this year, especially receiver but expect this upcoming Soph to start showing major flashes of his ability this year. My bold take for Mid May haha.

We're very fortunate to have this kind of talent coming up to replace great talent of those that have graduated. Imo, the future of Pikeville football looks very bright.

Pikeville football will continue to be the Beast of the East for the foreseeable future. Mac addressed the problem that caused the dip in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, which was the lack of attention to the feeder system/little league football.

Cole Slone going to be a star also. Listed as 6'3 and tearing it up in basketball. Like Warren he is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

Just curious who do Pikeville fans feel is the better Running back between Anthony from last year and Daric Pugh from their 2015 team? Also who was the better Pikeville Wide Receiver between Boykins from last year and and Cody Estep from the 2014 team? Reason i ask is they both remind me alot of one another.

I think Estep got more chances to shine and in turn was more productive. I think Boykins is a better raw athlete though. At RB I think Anthony is more impressive bc of his size and speed combination but Pugh was extremely special. Imo though, Hensley and Birchfield are the best two skill kids to come out of Pikeville this decade.

I think it took Boykins a minute to mold into that receiver role, when I first watched the transition I wasn’t sure how it would work because his hands weren’t great. But by the time the actual season rolled around he caught it pretty well. Estepp was a natural born slot the moment he took the field as a Freshman. I won’t go too far into who I think was better but I’d say Estepp but had Boykins been at Pikeville for all his high school career then I think that could’ve been different. Kids pick up very bad work related habits on the field, in school, in the weight room, in the off season when they aren’t being pushed by competition. It took Tayvian a solid year to realize that. Don’t get me wrong he was great but I think he could’ve been next level great had he been at Pikeville longer.
I really like the Pugh and Anthony comparisons. Both very very similar RB’s, almost mirror images. There is one glaring difference and that’s the fact Anthony plays defense too and is an absolute stud there as well. Pugh hurt his shoulder maybe his Soph year and the staff felt he was best served just playing offense but trust me Pugh was a stud LBer as well prior to that injury. I’ll throw another name that would’ve been a very similar type player had the team not just been flat loaded at skill was Collum.
Pugh, Anthony and Collum were all throwback football players who back in the 80’s would’ve been 185 yard and 18 tackle guys every Friday night and the Big Dipper would’ve been raving about them. Just my opinions. Scotty brought up Birchfield and Hensley as well, both much different type players than the kids mentioned above but studs as well. Pikeville has been very fortunate over the last decade with the type of kids they’ve had and there’s more waiting.
I can’t wait to see Who’s next to be one of those same electric type kids. I’ve got my eyes on more than 1 possibility that will start to open some eyes this Fall.

I also think chase hall belongs in the conversation with birchfield and hensley imo. That kid was a dawg at RB as well just not on quite as loaded of a team as the others.

Daniel Harmon and Chase Hall walked so kids like Daric Pugh, Blake Birchfield and Brenden Anthony could run.

If anyone left Chase Hall out of the conversation, they would've just had to have blocked out the early 2010s. If you put him on one of these teams the last 10 years it would've been scary to watch

was Randy Maynard the QBs name from about 2012? he was a good player

I would add Zac Lockhart to his conversation as well who imo is the best receiver Pikeville has had during their recent run. Pikeville has done a magnificent job producing high level players over the past 15 years.

Pughs younger brother was good. Biliter was good too. Just 2 I remember from recent years.
