Nuggets big man wins his 3rd MVP in 4 seasons, only the 9th player to ever win at least 3, very elite company. 

SGA finished 2nd in voting, Luka Doncic 3rd.  So does everyone think they got it right? Or did SGA deserve to win it?

SGA has had a phenomenal year and so has Jokic. So i think they could've made a case for either or. Jokic is averaging a double double while shooting 58.3% from 3. If Shai would've averaged a double double in points and assistants he probably would've won because he's averaging almost 30 a game this year.

I think most people have the "winners fatigue" and wanted to see someone different. MVP award is obviously a regular season award, but looking at the numbers through for Joker & SGA through 8-9 games in the playoffs.

Obviously both very very valuable to their respective teams. SGA will definitely be in the conversations for years to come, along with Jokic, ANT, Luka.

Just a side note and commentary on our AAU system-- the last six NBA MVPs were born outside the US.

With Jokic, SGA, Doncic, Giannis and Wembanyama being the early favorites for next year's award, this trend may not change. P

Definitely makes for an interesting Summer Olympics with all the international players that you mentioned, plus they've played with their respective national teams for a longer period than the current team USA roster than was just assembled. As for US born players, Anthony Edwards would obviously be the best chance for that streak to end, or if someone else just comes out of nowhere next season.

Edwards was 7th in voting this season. That'd be a pretty big jump, though it is possible. The top four were Jokic, SGA, Doncic, and Giannis.

Don't know that Edwards will put up the individual numbers, especially playing on the team he's on, but you can't rule it out either.

To put it in perspective, he had a total of 18 points in voting. Jokic had 926. SGA had 640. Doncic had 566. Giannis had 192. Jalen Brunson was the top American-born player in voting with 142.

I doubt that Jokic will repeat as MVP again, but his play in the Olympics only emphasized the fact that nobody has the positive impact on a team that Jokic has. His Nugget teammate, Jamaal Murray, was awful playing for the Canadian team.

I despise Joel Embid's selfish style of play, but if he can manage to play enough games to qualify for the award, then he is the most likely to dethrone Jokic for the MVP. Ja Morant is another player that the media would love to crown MVP over Jokic. It is a shame that the MVP award does not go to the best player in the league every season. 

Lebron James is still the best American born player in the NBA and the USA would not have beaten Serbia and France for the gold medal without his unselfish play.
