What an ignorant statement. Pikeville thriving more than any town east of Lexington. Hazard and Paintsville growing too.
What an ignorant statement to make. The gormans set hazard back 30 years. It’ll never grow. Pikeville has grown thanks to Paul Patton helping get roads and infrastructure through there when he was governor. Hazard is no more than a retirement home and will never be any different.
I only go to Hazard once every few years, but official Hazard city twitter account tweeted that Hazard population grew more % wise than Pikeville when the new population #s came out recently. I found that hard to believe but I do see new stuff every time I go there. Anyhow, Ramdad50 is from the sh!thole known as the Ashland/Portsmouth metro area and can't spell mountains much less know how many people want to move here or leave here.
Never thought anyone looked at us as “big city “ hahah. Everything isn’t meant to be negative Jet. All I was trying to say is Hazard will have a hard time attracting an out of area coach. Most young families wanna move to Lexington or Loserville, not to Hazard. I love Hazard and all small towns like Hazard.

Nothing urban about your area. You said most people were trying their best to leave a whole area of the state. Very negative and ignorant statement.
Hazard is Deadsville. Got worse past 10 years. We have just as much here in J-Town and we are closer to civilization. I used to not think that way but I can’t go to Hazard any more anything useful.

1986; 9-1
1987; 8-2
1988; 6-5
1989; 12-1

Those teams weren’t struggling to win.  The ‘86 and ‘87 teams were still under the district winner only playoff system.

The ‘88 team lost three games by a total of 5 points.  Lost at Russell in the playoffs by a fluke double tipped pass completion as time was expiring.

The ‘89 team was the first Breathitt team to beat RUSSELL and they did it twice.  Also, first team to ever beat Belfry at Breathitt.

In 1987 both the District Winner and Runner-Up made the playoffs.  That was my senior year at Somerset.  We won the district and Wayne County upset Corbin to take the Runner-Up spot.  We played Morgan County in the first round, and Wayne played Leslie.
Is coach howard back in the picture?
Obviously I’ve been paying close attention to whom Hazard might hire…….is it me or shouldn’t someone pretty much be in place by now? Most teams are getting back into their offseason program now at least for the football only type kids. I know I’ve seen a bunch of the Pikeville kids already back at it.
Seems like the more this drags on, the further Hazard will fall behind. Maybe Hazard has someone in the school that’s keeping the kids on track with their off-season regimen, that I don’t know. But anyway, I truly hope Hazard makes a good hire.
Who has applied?
Makes one think that the longer it takes the more it looks as if they aren't having luck finding someone.

Interviews next week.
Who has applied?
I’d love to hear a few names.. heard some but not many.
I figured Nick Sabin always wanted this job. Look for him to apply soon.

Jordan Ray - OC For Chirico at GRC is the leading candidate.

I would imagine Mother Nature caused problems with having interviews..

Pro tip: If you're going to troll, it's always a good idea to at least spell names correctly

He’s no longer interested. Pulled his name and is taking the prestonsburg job.

The seeming lack of urgency tells me one of two things.

A. Things are a lot worse in Hazard than anyone thought

B. They already have their guy and posting the job was a formality

I would take option B

Maybe C, All of the Above
Who is the fan favorite for this job?

This process seems to be taking forever
It’s going to continue into March I would say. But I think it’s all smoke and mirrors. I’d say it’s someone already on staff, or they have already made their hire. Does anyone have any info on if there’s been any teacher hires in the system?
I talked to a buddy in CKY who says they interviewed the Offensive Line Coach at Franklin County. I hope this is not true. He was abysmal when he was at Letcher a while back and is the definition of a title chaser and job hopper. Never stays anywhere more than a year or two. This is not what is needed at a program like ours at Hazard. It will cause a mass exodus of what little talent we have.
Chandler from Franklin is who I heard.

I hope you’re wrong!!!
Chandler was the offensive coordinator at Franklin County. He has moved around alot, but what assistants would not have made upward movements, if they aspire to be a head coach. He has worked under different coaches with different approaches to the game.

BTW, Hillard Howard or Mike Holcomb aint walking through the door.

Don't know anything about him but Franklin had an undefeated season until they lost to Boyle in the semi-finals. Surely he has learned something and can bring something new to Hazard. Of course I know nothing about him.
