Not saying it’s so, but I read a report yesterday that said he had transferred. If so, South, already a contender, could be an even bigger threat to win the 13th. Any truth to this Clay Co. fans?

I’m in some kind of group on Facebook and it is getting blowed up about a transfer in the 13th. No names or teams were mentioned other than SL.

Well, to be honest, I heard this last night but there's so many stories floating around that I didn't give it much thought.

If you look at KHSAA scoreboard Harris hasn’t played the last two games for Clay.
12-22-2023, 01:08 PM
My thing in all this is no one questioning eligibility. Played 8 games into a senior year, upset over being benched against Jackson County, and then can just transfer? You talk about the Wild West if KHSAA starts allowing this at any school and any part of the state.
12-22-2023, 01:15 PM
They’ve allowed this for years. The khsaa is useless. Some schools in the 14th and 15th region don’t even know what there rosters will look like u til after Christmas.
12-22-2023, 01:26 PM
Always been this way. Where y’all been?
12-22-2023, 05:18 PM
KHSAA doesn’t allow in season transfers if you’ve played varsity regardless of situation.
12-22-2023, 10:20 PM
If there is a legitimate move to a different school district there is nothing the khsaa can do.
12-23-2023, 08:35 AM
^Even if the move is bogus!
KHSAA lost my respect years ago!

After this season in football, KHSAA is more like the mafia than a governing body for scholastic athletics!

If this athlete is riding the bench at Clay what would make anyone think he could play for South, why transfer? South is the biggest surprise in the 13th region, if I had to pick a #2 team in the region it's by far and away South right now, now when those football hounds get tuned up they may be able to unseat Card Nation from the 2, but today South is a close second to Harlan County.

He starts and would contribute a lot at South as he would make them a 3 headed monster to go along with Rawlings and Mabe.

He’s a talented player that has put a lot of time in helping build the program back up. You would like to see him finish his career off in the same uniform he has worn his entire career and not jump ship after an issue that could easily be resolved for 2 months (at best) of play elsewhere. He is either close to passing 1,000 career points or has accomplished that this season.
12-23-2023, 06:09 PM
Maybe he’s having a tough time being part of a 3 headed monster now? Maybe he’s being asked to do things he hasn’t been asked to do the last 3 years. There’s always more to a story and I’m sure someone can elaborate.

Differences from last year to this year that COULD have impacted a decision
1. Shots, he was getting just over 15 shots a game last season. This season just 9 and style of play changed where he was benched and was not the primary ball handler in most situations especially at the end of games. Now it’s the offense through roark.
2. Michael Jones, He is the peak of drama off the court. Something could have happened just like at HC.
3. Realization, if he’s eligible at South, they are a little bit closer to being able to knock off HC. It was obvious when clay went to the WYMT they are not a top 4 team in the region and were very very far away from being able to compete with the bears. Maybe he thought I wanna win a region and play in rupp before i graduate, and it’s not going to happen here even though i put this program at my back at times… let’s go somewhere i can win.
Just my opinion

If that's true, then he'd probably be with a bigger favorite at Perry Central or Harlan County.

I'm hearing it's the good old boy politics as usual at BIG CLAY and trying to put a 10 man rotation in play. South may been a pretender but just became a serious contender with the addition of Harris. Harlan still going to be a tough out!

I heard Clay's Harris is with the Black & Gold team in Florida, maybe we can put this saga to rest for now. Correct me if I'm hearing wrong.

Correct. In his warmup. I’d imagine he’ll sit a little and then be back. Could be tomorrow, Friday, or when they return to Kentucky.

KHSSA is a joke
Example: east ridge had a girl basketball player whose sister played at Shelby valley and parents lived at same address. Same situation going on now at pikeville and belfry. It's all about politics or you threaten to sue the KHSAA. Harris kid will transfer and get ruled eligible immediately. Watch

I'm hearing from several sources that the heat is rising and the fan base, parents, the board is not happy campers. Jones was handed a region contender on a silver plate and is simply not getting it done. From running his best player off, playing 9 kids to make parents happy, blowing lead after lead and getting out coached.

Houndsmam, Clay fans are happy. Still December and have already won 8 games. Nice insight though from someone who just joined this board this month.

Jones is a terrible coach.

Some players and parents are upset on just about all teams…just ask around. Every kid thinks they should play more because their parent tells them that. It’s been going on for years and that’s the problem with organized sports these days. Parents are BIASED!
So are in season transfers really a thing that is allowed by khsaa? I always thought you couldn’t play for 2 different teams in the same season regardless of the reason but maybe that was wrong thinking or the rules changed
