Beat Down
I’ve always wondered where the 36 came from for a running clock. Why didn’t they just make it 35? It’s never made sense to me.

First off, hope Carter Parsons is ok.
Second off, Congrats to Valley
Once Parsons went out at QB, Valley just pinned their ears back and started blitzing and blowing up the run because they didn’t have to respect a pass coming.

Wow, what an offensive show from Shelby Valley! I had predicted SV would score 6 touchdowns, but I underestimated them. They just moved the ball at will, and Betsy Layne was powerless to stop them. Just like I thought, the Bobcats hadn't seen an offense like this all year, and they were simply not prepared for what Valley threw at them. Just an impressive performance by Russ Osborne and company.
On the other side, Betsy Layne showed some fight early, and were able to hang around for a while. But the inability of the defense to get any stops put all the pressure on the Bobcat offense to try to keep up with Valley. And they just weren't able to, especially after their QB got hurt. Still, they should get the #2 seed in district, and may have a chance to pull off a win in the 2nd round of the playoffs (against most likely Martin County).
Anyway, this game shows why Shelby Valley has a chance to make a deep run in the playoffs, and also why they may not. That offense will give them a shot against anybody in the east outside of Beechwood, but that defense makes them vulnerable to an upset.
Congrats Wildcats!

SV was definitely the better team tonight. BL had a nice turnover on SV when Osborne fumbled. They play that I think really showed SV was the superior team was the KO return.
Osborne impressed me more on defense. He may have good offensive numbers but couple those throws at the end we’re just padding stats.

Shelby Valley likes to do that. Was throwing go routes against PPC last week when they had a running clock in the first quarter. But to each their own, we didn't stop them, so they can do whatever makes them happy.

The standings aren't finalized until after next week. But district 8 is mostly pretty well set, barring a major upset. It looks like district 8 will be:
1) Shelby Valley
2) Betsy Layne
3) East Ridge
4) Pike Central
The standings for the top of district 7 are still up in the air. The district champ will be the winner of next week's game between Martin and Floyd. It should be:
1) Martin or Floyd
2) Floyd or Martin
3) Prestonsburg
4) Knott Central
This would make some interesting first round matchups. Outside of a Shelby Valley / Knott bloodbath, every other matchup could be interesting. Betsy Layne would rematch PBurg, in a game you know the Blackcats would be looking forward to. East Ridge would most likely play Floyd Co, in what I would consider a toss-up. And the 1 vs 4 matchup of Martin and Pike Central could go either way (PC beat Martin earlier in the year). I could easily see district 8 pull off a sweep.

Congrats Valley. Betsy Layne isn't on par with teams like Valley yet, but they have closed the distance the past few seasons IMO. The Bobcats still have a lot to play for like a home game in the playoffs so they can't hang their heads. I hope Carter Parsons is ok. In hate seeing players get injured, but I guess that's part of the game.

I’ve always wondered where the 36 came from for a running clock. Why didn’t they just make it 35? It’s never made sense to me.
It's 36 score differential or more.
