I never thought this administration could get someone worse than Gray but they have proved me wrong again….this guy was giving drugs to players when I was in school…..stealing from players backpacks in the locker room and also messing around with underage girls….Unbelievable….I’m completely done with Clay sports after this.

A lot of Facebook gold right now. The supporters of the locals that didn’t get this job are going to try and burn the program to the ground. They would’ve done the same irregardless of who got the job. This is the problem there today in a nut shell.

Based on coaching it’s a solid hire. Can’t judge someone for their past.

Proven head coaching success and has been to Rupp. You don’t just jump into HS head coaching jobs with no experience. Just ask Gray about that. Probably one of the best options available. Now, keep the idiots out of his way. Will he be a teacher at the school? If so, that’s another win. Athletes need their coaches at their school for many reasons.

Grow up please. Stop acting like a 3 rd grader. Leave this man alone and let him coach.

The local backlash is the attitude that will keep the program from every finding it’s former glory.

Proven winner… but rumors will fly fast. Could not keep the rumor mill quiet at hchs. It was everything from stealing to you know what-ing teenagers and other facility members. Clay county faithful that don’t like the hire will eat him alive before he steps on the floor.

they were going to eat anyone alive that wasn’t their exact choice.

No, fans know when change is needed. what keeps any program down is not the fans who can’t make any decisions, but the good ole boy networks that control the decisions and local politics. Then most programs wonder why more kids choose to transfer and people move because of the few holding back most programs.

Hard to blame Clay on this one, all they've heard for the last how many years is that their coach wasnt a good coach. So they went out and got one of the best coaches available. And how do the people react? Upset that they didnt hire the guy with no high school coaching experience. haha

Been cracking up at social media. Not hard to tell why the other guy didn’t get chose when you see all the posts him and his family are making. What a bunch of idiots.

I suppose it could happen elsewhere but I'm not surprised at all at the Facebook posts coming out of Manchester. Jones is gonna have a tough time. Best of luck Coach.

Agree completely…do people also think they can be a doctor because they once took 3 stitches out? Unreal…they can’t see the forest for the trees. Please leave the new coach alone and stop taking your kids elsewhere. What are you teaching your kids???

If you things don't go your way, run away.

I am all for 2nd chances and I think Jones does a good job as a coach. But take away the stuff that happened at Clay County 20 yrs ago. Jones was forced to resign because of issues off the court at Harlan County. So to say no Clay fans should be concerned is mind blowing. You gotta at least consider to do I want this man coaching my son.

Winning cures all. If Jones goes out and has a winning season and competes for a district and regional title, all the tears will dry up in Gunchester. Well, all the tears except for the family of that grade school coach guy or whatever he was. Let’s let it play out.
#25
So let me get this straight. Clay County has hired a guy with character issues, including rumors of pedophilia. Seems they chose the perfect person for the perfect job and perfect town. Well done!!!

I understand sour grapes by people wanting the job but there is legit reasons for concern about this hire.

I commend the school board for putting all pressure aside and hiring the best coach available. Donald Trump had a few character flaws doesn't mean he wasn't the greatest president of all time. The ones bashing this man and embarrassing our county are the same ones that keep us sitting 40 years behind everyone else. Making up rumors with no merit or bringing up someone's mistakes from 20 years ago isn't very Godly. Speaking of rumors! if the one being passed around at the water cooler is true, this could be the hire of the century! Only time will tell! Go Tigers.

I'd take a man that has been loyal to Clay County sports and has integrity over someone with all the baggage "Associated with Clay County by the way" any day of the week.  I don't know the Hibbard guy or Parks guy personally but either one of them would have been a better choice.....but I do know 100% all the stuff going around on social media about stealing, drugs, etc.....is 100% true......Jones may come out and be the best coach in the region and bring the tigers back to the top but at what cost?  He could have very well changed from the person he was back in the early 2000's but once again if you are a recovering alcoholic you are not going to go to a bar and get a job.  If you had issues at a school and had negative interactions with kids...as an administration why would you bring that person back?

What a truly sick take!!! Currently ranked right at or near the bottom of most rankings , along with James Buchanon, and possibly headed for prison, something Manchester's golden homeboy knows something about.

The one category that kept Orange guy ahead of Buchanon and Andrew Johnson(who was also impeached) was category #7 :LUCK .

Board was stuck between a rock and a boulder. Hire one of the locals with no experience and you would be criticized for "the good ole boy system" (look at Corbin) or hire a coach with experience. Hibbard is a real good guy, doesn't make him a real good coach. If he's as loyal as you say I hope to see him on the bench along with Jones. I don't care who the coach is, we need to rally behind the kids and support everyone or it would be a huge injustice to our youth.
