Hall out at Breathitt!!
#31
bball fan Wrote:Fifty and 10 in his first two seasons, then he loses a bunch of seniors, the best junior in the region to LCC, and had to play with a bunch of "very average" young kids and you say they looked disinterested????? Great statement BranhamBull!! Pull that football out of your butt! What a joke!!!
It was not just the fact that the team lost the games, it was the lack of effort they showed that made this happen. He is probably a good coach and a person, but if a team does not play to win then a change needs to be made. I did not know that his record was that good in the first two seasons, thanks for correcting me on that. The personal attacks about people in Jackson are ignorant in nature and the people making the comments about the people in Jackson are ignorant and I would say have never really spent time with anyone from Jackson, thus making them totally ignorant to anything Jackson. In every Athletic program there is pressure to succeed, and politics plays a role in every program, no matter how successful, but to say that Breathitt High somehow is different than any other school system in the State is incorrect. I did make some ignorant comments about this subject, but ignorance can be fixed, and it has thanks to the corrections, but the generalizations about Breathitt County being "backwoods as it gets...." is beyond ignorant and is closer to the stupid stage, and stupid cannot be fixed. All I know for a fact is that they played with no heart and/or effort and that would get any coach in trouble.

I have read this thread and I must say: Freakin unbelievable! I have known this kid since he played at McDowell High School. (He is a kid to me) He goes 50 and 10 at a football school without great talent in two years. What are you people smokin? I sure hope he can come back to the 15th region where we can continue to appreciate his "Class". I dont care who the new coach is at Breathitt, he will not be the equal to 'Coach Hall'

I do not think that anyone on this site really knows what happened with this guy and Breathitt. Could Breathitt be in the wrong, yes, but maybe something led to this. He had a good run at Breathitt and had a few good teams, I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up.

Here's how classy Holcomb is,
I played for Holcomb, I've coached high school football for 8 years. I've tried to call him several times over the past few years for a little help or a question or 2 I might have had on a formation or how how did something on offense. I bled on the field for that program and I could never even get a return phone call from Holcomb. I thought Holcomb was the greatest, But he has no concerns for anyoneelse. I remember when Holcomb had a couple of 1-9 seasons, They never fired him. I bled blue for many years but when your mentor, your coach can't even give a new coach a little advice to a new coach who busted his ass for that program that sums it all up. He won't even return a phone call. Funny thing I can call Kenny Roark and he offered to spend a whole weekend with our whole staff and go over his o and d. Holcomb forgets who helped him or I guess that really doesn't matter. NO CLASS, SMOKE THAT CIGAR HOLCOMB,STRUT AROUND, THE ATHELETES AINT THERE NO MORE. IF A MAN I SWEAT AND BLED FOR FOR MY HIGH SCHOOL CAREER CAN'T GIVE ME THE TIME OF DAY, I DON'T WANNA BE LIKE HIM AT ALL.

If true, this is sad. Good luck if you are still coaching.

Oh cry me a freaking river man. This is over, people just like bashing successful people/programs when they are down. Like I said before, no one really knows what happened at Breathitt except those in Jackson close to the story. Honestly I do not care what happened, I just wish some of the posters on here would not make generalizations about the people in Jackson because there are far more rural "backwoods" places to be found.

You are so cool Nike boy. Your wit and humor are unrivaled, but your knowledge is limited at best.

Knowledge limited??? My knowledge tells me a record of 50-10 is pretty damn good.
#55
Yes it is. But the effort and such that the team played with this past year was unacceptable at any school. I really do not think this happened because of the record as much as by the way the losses this year happened.

They had a tough year because of inexperience. They battled with some good teams but down the stretch experience wins games. Don't give me this effort crap. It's called talent and Breathitt had very little.

Even teams with limited talant can at least show effort, and they did not do it, except on a couple occasions this season. The fact that they did show some effort on a couple occasions proves that they had it in them, they were just lazy and not motivated on most nights. Holocomb is far from a saint, and there may be politics involved here, I really do not care. I get my info from people who watched the team this past season on multiple occasions and not from my past experiences with BHS. My sources say that the team was disorganized and disintrested in most games, and that is the coaches fault. Should he have been given a chance to do better next year, yes, but there must have been other circumstaces that led to this happening to him. Did he resign or was he fired?

It's tough to stay motivated when you are losing alot. That's a coaches toughest challenge...Brian did his best and I'm sure he was stressed out as most coahes are. Losing will bring out the worst in alot of people, including the fans!!! I'm done Bull. Good luck to Breathitt.
