Letcher @ Perry Central 09/23
#1
Letcher coming off a big win, and Perry struggled bad to beat Powell.

With that being said, what are some predictions and thoughts going into this big district matchup Friday?

This should be a close game. Both teams give up a lot of points but LCC seems to have a little better offense. The game should be an entertaining one for people who don't enjoy watching a lot of great defensive plays.

I’d say you’re right.  High scoring!

If Letcher's secondary plays like it did in the 2nd half last night they will be hard to beat going forward. The 5 sophomores they play looks like they are starting to get it.This is the best offensive line that Letcher has ever had and they can completely control the game if they get rolling. They completely dominanted last night without one of the best lineman in the mountains who was out last night. Perry is kind of a mystery to me. They have struggled to beat a bad teams like Floyd Central and Powell but they stepped up and beat Breathitt.

2 things ,

1. If Perry spreads the ball, letcher cannot stop their pass game because Slone is one of the most accurate passer I’ve seen in a long time..

2. If Perry continues to wait until 3rd and long to throw the ball then you’re right, letcher will win this game easily.

Perry had to trust the QB and let him run this team, I watched the game live Friday and they threw the ball 1 time the whole second half.  I’m Perry county through and through but I will call them out when I feel the need and right now, the play calling is subject to say the Least..

Letcher in a shootout!

Perry refocuses and takes care of business. Perry by 10. They erase the fumbles and bad snaps. Will see the best game of the year played by Perry. Powell wasn’t bad but Perry was over looking them.

Going with Letcher Central
#9
I think these two teams are very close. How much advantage will PCC have playing on their home field?
#10
I going with Letcher in this one. I don't think people truly appreciate the dominance Letcher put on Breathitt last week. Breathitt was up 14-0 after the first 8 plays of the game from that point on was a complete beat down.Letcher outscored Breathitt 32-7 rest of the way and ended a drive on 1 yard and had a long TD run called back. Breathitt couldn't run the ball at all. They had 64 yards while Letcher had 378.

Letcher 42
Perry 21

Going to be a shootout. Letcher Central look awful good against Breathitt last week.

Letcher Central 42
Perry Central 38

Going with the cougars in this one. Think letchers offense will be just a step quicker than Perry’s defense as they put up quite a few scores. After the big comeback win against breathitt and coming back to make a game against hazard in the second half I believe letcher puts it all together this game and beats perry 42-21. Truly think this is Perry’s first big test and after the struggles last week with Powell just don’t think they can regroup in time to beat this letcher central team.

Perry’s 12th man will player a vital role in this game.
#14
Can PCC contain Little? Can Slone throw it down the field against LCC's cornerbacks?
High scoring game

LCC 42
PCC 35

Just as easily could be flip flopped

Gonna be tough without Gibson for Perry , he’s having surgery Thursday, feel so bad for the kid, and a huge loss for Perry , but they have to regroup, next man up and find a way to stay in this game and give themselves a chance in the 4th, Perry can’t fall behind 2 scores , if they do , it’s over!! Perry can win this game is they don’t play scared, I’m telling you, Perry can score if they spread the field, gonna be interesting to say the least.

Hate to hear about Gibson...injuries...prayers for him

Yea. So sad for the kid, and a huge loss for the commodores, Gibson and slone really had a good connection from center to QB, gonna be interesting moving forward.

I hate that Gibson is out but I think Neace will be fine filling that role. He should have started the last game at center. Huge game for the Commodores to start district play. LCC has won 9 of the last 10. I hope the Commodores can get over the hump this Friday.

What are your keys to the game for a Perry win?

I’m hearing that Perry’s starting running back has left the team. You got any word on this so far? Said he walked in the locker room yesterday, got his stuff and told them see u all is the word I’m getting.

The obvious key is to contain and slow down Little. He has ran all over everyone, I would make him complete passes to beat you. It’s easier said than done.

On the opposite side, throwing the ball against the cougars. A lot teams has had success in the air against them this year. Line has got to protect and trust Slone in the pocket. I think it’s going to be a dandy, can’t wait.

You are right.  I appreciate the input and I agree with everything you said.   Little’s legs and slones arm.  And which team can keep from turning the ball over.   I’m excited  for this one!

Hope Letcher plays the kid from Florida at DEnd the whole game. He was a difference maker in the 2nd half of Breathitt game when they started playing him there full time. The pressure the front 4 was getting without blitzing really helped the young secondary.

Yea if they get pressure on slone, and stop Perry’s run game, may be a running clock situation.  Perry’s offensive line has to pass protect and crest some holes in the run game because I don’t think their defense can stop letcher enough to win the game unless Perry scores a bunch.

If Perry don’t beat Letcher Friday it might be a couple years before they beat them. Letcher should be really good the next 2 years. This is a bridge season and most of us knew we would have our struggles with this young of a team.

I have to disagree.  Perry will be better next year , they only lose a couple seniors and return most of their core players, they will be favored over letcher next year in my opinion. But that’s just a opinion ?
