The King Wrote:Nope... he is a very legit 6'3".

Funny thing... he sent me a message a weeks ago himself saying he was 6'1" either he grew 2 inches in a week, or he is playing in high heeled tennis shoes.

I know that he is my height if not a little taller, because I know I am not 6'1...scary thing is, he still has a couple of years to grow

And the funny thing is that he is still a better post player than most, even ones that are 6'9". Confusedhh:

Do I think that Taylor will be good? Yes I do. But as if with everything else, it will take lots of hard work and dedication these next four years. I also have reason to believe that Ashley will also fit into Valley's puzzle. I see the both of them being a terriffic duo in the future. Maybe not as soon as I'd like, but maybe a year or two before things come around.

its not only about big men in ball, some of the smaller men can still get over some of the big one's

I went to watch the Bobcats of Betsy Layne and the Pikeville Panthers play yesterday. After reading these post, I dont think the battle of the big men will be between Whitt and Patton. Whitt didnt impress me any at all in that game. The paint was controled by Pikeville in that match up.

Trevor did a really good job at center today, but I disagree with the stopping him part, In todays game, it was Jordan Hall that was the hot hand.

Well viewing both games he played in today,PikeCen/East ridge, hes the only big man who has a lick of basketball sense...From last year to this, he looks like a new player...Im very impressed.Pburg should be a very dangerous team come season. Their only problem iv'e noticed is they rely on 3's too much , what they need to do is dish it to Patton and let him score , a good inside game really opens up the Outside game. Keep doing them squats Patton, you'll be UNSTOPPABLE.

The big man match up this year will be between Pikeville and Prestonsburg. That will be the match up to watch in the paint.

Some fairly good sized post players in the 15th for next season for a change. I look for the 15th to be stronger next year from what I saw this summer.

Yeah, but will either team be a threat to win the region? NO!

Ok, I give up. You valley people are right. Pikevilles 15 year old 6'9" sophmore got outplayed by valleys 15 year old 6'1" freshman, their 6'3" or 4 inch freshman, and a borrowed 6'8" boy. Wait, that was a valley dream I was told about. The game I seen was a little different than what valley dreams and posts on here.

At least he does have someone else talking about him besides himself and not making up 20 names so he can get his name out. But it will be interesting, I filmed the game between the Valley all star 15 year old freshmans playing against Pikevilles 15 year old sophmore. It wil lbe posted in the image gallery area on here. So everyone can see if Deven sucks, and he outplayed you, what does that say about you?

I definately don't want to get in this silly debate on this thread, but Pikeville will have a shot to win the region after watching them closely this past week and P-burg will also be better than expected.

Everyone on here needs to relax, it is only June. Let these boys enjoy the summer without this nonsense!! Don't put anymore pressure on them than they already have!

I agree 100%. Let them play.

BasketBallonlyfan Wrote:Well, I dont think that anyone said he is going to be as good as Todd or JR.
I do think he will be as good as he wants to get. Remember back in time though. I cant say for sure about JR, but Todd wasnt a all stater player as a sophmore. Wasnt it Mikes team then? So before you start to judge one player to another, remember the ages of each player not when one was at their peak against another one just starting playing high school ball. Now, I am not saying that he will be another Todd or J.R. But I do think come Christmas time, you will be changing your story some from what it is now.
i agree with ya man deven is just starting he has time to get better then he is i know him he is one of my good friends and he gets better in my opion ever time i watch him play and he will be as good as he wants to get TongueirateSho

You don't always have to tell everyone how good Deven is. Most of us who have seen him play think that he will turn out to be a very good player one day, but do you always have to downgrade everyone who doesn't feel the same way as you do. From what I have seen of Deven, he has a lot of skill but it often takes big men a while to gain coordination. I have seen a drastic improvement in him since his 8th grade year, and if he continues to improve might someday be a force in the 15th.

How did the game go? I heard from one of the Lightning's parents that Pikeville beat them one point. The parent also bragged on Deven's play when I asked what he thought. How did Deven match up with the Lightning big men? Give us your take.

That 6'8" boy isn't borrowed by the way. He has played for the Lightning for years. This isn't Shelby Valley's AAU team. It has players from June Buchanan, Shelby Valley, and a 6'4"/6'5" player from Barbourville who did not play in that game.

Why the grudge against Valley?

I think Deven did well against Lightning. And I think you know what I meant when I called Garrison a "borrowed 6'8" boy. He a June Buchanon player, not Shelby Valley, he won't be a factor for the Wildcats. I don't have a grudge against Valley, as I said earlier Valley has a lot of talent. Unfortunately, they also have one particular player who thinks he IS the team. For over a year I have gotten private messages downing my son, Deven rarely reads any of the posts on here, but I do. I get a little tired of this particular person, insulting, degrading, and threatening my son on an almost daily basis. I guess my posts do seem a little harsh to someone just reading the boards, but I think the person I mentioned earlier understands them.

Is this a nice thing for a grown man, a moderator at that, to say about a teenager? That said, I just wanted to say that I'm not going to engage in anymore Pikeville - Shelby Valley arguments. I got so angry about the comments of one person that I let it get to the point that everyone is asking why I have a "grudge" against Valley? I don't think Valley will dominate the area like they have in the past, but that is not to say they won't have a good team. Elisha, Logan, and Jacob are outstanding players, and I think Ashley and I believe his name is Kirby? have enough size to establish an inside game for Valley in time. I am going to try to keep my posts objective, scores, stats, etc. from now on. Not saying that I am not proud of Deven. I'm very proud of him. He's a really good kid and a good basketball player. He may have some co-ordination problems at times but believe me it's not easy to be 15 and 6'9". His co-ordination is pretty good for someone who is growing so fast. No antagonizing posts fom basketballonlyfan? I hope life doesn't get too boring. Good luck to Pikeville AND Valley.

Didn't I sound calm? My point was, not every comment on here is "nice" and most are about teenagers. It was in reference to another thread and a post by Randy Davis. Dang it Alfus, if I hadn't just promised to be good I'd tell you to get your panties out of a wad. But, I'm being nice, so have a nice day!Confusedhh:

For the last time, Taylor is taller than 6'1. As for who is the best, I am sick of tired of everyone putting each other down. Especially the guys on here who don't even play anymore. Let the boys do their thing without the criticism from everyone sitting behind a screen. Nobody has a right to say one "sucks" whether it is true or not. May the players who work hard in the off-season and give it their best at every game succeed. Good luck in 06-07 15th Region.

In the games I saw Belfrey schooled Pikeville and Lightning.
