Looking at Film. Corbin/JC Game 11/19

Tom Greer is a great coach, maybe not a great head coach but a great coach none the less.
Corbin celebrated his return when he joined the staff of Haddix
Corbin tends to over rate kids (especially daddies)
Corbin has too many daddies involved
When you degrade your coach constantly you are degrading the program
Criticize in private
Praise in public
You are hampering your own ability to attract top area athletes
You can’t win with Corbin kids alone
Actually you can’t win with an all star team either (see Johnson Central game)
Bad messages are sent when you constantly bring in outside athletes
Facilities don’t make winners.  (Grass beats turf)
Sometimes it is the Xs and Os which in real life are the jimmies and joes.
To win you have to unite as one kids hear and listen
It does not take much to destabilize a kids faith in coaches and a program
It does take a lot to fix it

At some point you have to decide if beating the locals is enough, if taking kids from other schools just so they don’t have them is enough.  You have to have faith in the subsystem and the system to work.

Corbin used to win championships because they were ahead of the game as far as weight lifting and other parts of the subsystem.  In today’s times many many schools have not only caught but surpassed Corbin, now is the time to figure out how to fix all the parts of the system

Which school will you coach at next year, Coach?
My thoughts exactly. Although a great point was made. Bringing in kids from other schools to play key positions is a terrible way to treat the kids who were brought up thru TCSA. One of Corbin’s greatest recruiting tools has been TCSA. So why go out and recruit players? Just have the confidence in the ones that have been in system being developed. This type of recruiting sends a very bad message to those kids who are brought up in current system at Corbin.

I don’t plan on coaching but if the right job comes along you never can tell where I’ll end up.  I am planning on being an independent contractor focusing on leading athletes to the schools that fit them both academically and athletically

After all the film breakdown by the experts this 39 year drought should be over next year.

I'll take it. But I highly doubt it.
Dave Cox was barely old enough to buy a beer the last time Corbin won a state title.  He'll be making nasties in his pajamas at the local nursing home before the Hounds play for another trophy.

especially if you bring more Williamsburg kids and take over as head coach.

Big Grin That’s right!
Corbin's schedule was weak this year, which maybe led to the Hounds being a little overrated by some, but then again it may have prevented them from reaching their full potential. The won-loss record of their regular season opponents was 43 wins and 78 losses for a winning pct. of 36%, which is in stark contrast to the schedule played during the seasons that ended in the Finals.
Who was the DC for Haddix in the two finals when at Corbin? Who was the DC for Haddix when he was in the two finals at Boyle?

DC at Boyle was Jeff Hester last year and Travis Burns this year.

I picked Corbin to win it all before the season started, based on the talent and numbers I knew that they had. I didn't know that the roster wouldn't be utilized properly.

I agree the schedule could mislead some if they didn’t know the talent they had on the sidelines. Corbin passed on Freddie Douglas week 10, dropped Beechwood, and according to some of the coaches had the chance to play Belfry at one time. They let a descent SK, LC hang around and never took control of the games, handled a pretty solid franklin team, and the book is still out about Christ from NC. The talent at corbin this season went 12-0 is all I am going to say. They could have played pickup ball rules and fielded there own team and got as far as they did. The kids would have had kids playing where they should have for the best of the team, would have probably fixed a lot of the attitudes along the way also. In the end it doesn’t matter now, when adults bully kids, kids cant work out there differences and it snowballs into what you see now.

The Franklin Co game was the pinnacle of the season, I never seen the intensity or effort the rest of the season, it was like they never progressed any further, more like the team took steps back.
