Love to see Perry come out and give them a game. Perry is better than some may think. I know Paintsville is down but you dont beat Paintsville at Paintsville without being decent.

Perry County seems to have its program headed in the right direction but the Commodores will do well to avoid an early running clock.

If theres this much disparity between all these teams then why in the world is there a playoff format? Should take Top 8 teams and go by RPI. Let
Johnson, Boyle, Corbin, and the other top 5 battle it out. Or just take the champ and runnerup like they used to. By the time you play 10 games, you should know whether or not you belong.

If you shorten the season for weak teams by shortening their season, then you make it more difficult for those teams to become more competitive. Teams that play more games and hold more practices have a built-in advantage over other teams.
Indiana does not exclude any teams from the playoffs and the quality of football played there is stronger than in Kentucky, even if you consider Indiana's larger population. For example, Trinity begins almost every season as the solid favorite to win the state's largest class title. In Indiana, Carmel, Center Grove, Ben Davis, and Warren Central are competitive with each other in most years in that state's largest class and all of them have won state titles in the past 10-15 years. In some years, Penn, Fishers, Decatur Central, Lawrence Central, and Pike are also competitive, having recently won a title or finished runner-up.
IMO, Kentucky should be allowing every team into the playoffs because the more games and practices teams participate in, the better the quality of football played in the state will be.

I don't even think Johnson Central is top 8 RPI at the moment (should be by the end of the year though)

The Maryland team that beat Johnson Central is rapidly climbing in the CalPreps rankings, which will not help the Golden Eagles' RPI at all. The Illinois team that JC beat will likely climb in the rankings as well. JC is likely to beat Letcher Central by a comfortable margin, but otherwise, they will not have much opportunity to improve their RPI, with Belfry being down this season. (No offense to Letcher Central, which is having a great season, but if JC avoids turnovers, I don't believe that LC can stop the JC offense.)
Usually the first round of the playoffs is a Slaughter. Wasted week. Maybe let the 3rd 4th place teams have an extra bowl game or something. No need to reward a team for going 4-6 or 3-7 in the regular season. 10 games is plenty. Most teams are beat to death and ready to throw in the towel any way. Lets say Harlan County gets the 4 seed this year and get rewarded by playing Johnson Central again. Another beating. Not good for anyone. But lets say Harlan County gets to play the 4 seed from the Corbin district, that would have the makings of a good bowl game.

I'm just saying putting the top 8 RPI out there and calling it a day won't work because the RPI is bad.

This RPI/playoff shenanigans was just creating a problem to get rid of a solution.
The opposing district playoff system was fine.
This new one doesn't make for fewer blowouts and I would argue when its all said and done more miles are put on school buses.

What would be wrong with Perry Central playing Lincoln County of Wayne at somewhere like EKU? Make that 11th game in a nice setting. Let other teams located NE play at Morehead. Just something new would be a nice change. 4A is gonna be Boyle, Corbin, JC, and probably Franklin again. Theres some other good teams in the Top 10 of 4A but them 4 are the best.
I think Letcher needs to play Boyle or Corbin in the playoffs and not Johnson Central for the 2nd time unless its in the finals or semis.

Johnson Central will play inspired football the rest of the year. Unfortunately 4A (or fortunately for us fans) is about as good as it gets at the top. This playoff is going to be epic. JC wins this game by a bunch.

Rpi is just a number, the only thing it means is if your home or on the road. At some point when the 5 week real season starts, the boys from JC will be a tough out. Nothing but respect, they are and will be a game no one wants on there schedule during a win or game home situation.

Central is not as explosive as years past, but with that O line, they will grind teams up with ball control.
Defense is still trying to find their self, but this should be a 30+ point win.
