#3 (4A) Franklin County @ #4 (4A) Corbin 9/03
#31
If Combs and Huff play for Corbin I dont see FC hanging in for 4 quarters. Might be close for the first half or even 3 quarters but i think the hounds will pull away late. However if Corbin doesn't have their starting QB and RB things might get a little more dicey.

They won't do to Corbin what they did to a mediocre Western Hills team.
That’s why I picked 31-16 instead of 61-0. ?

I hate to say it but it really doesn't matter what happens in this game if the Huff kid doesn't play because Corbin is a totally different animal with Huff.

I've also been hearing Franklin county's got a really big surprise Friday night

Corbin big?

I really don't see Corbin winning this game just too many injuries but we will see it is at Corbin

Franklin County is the real deal and IMO the #1 in 4A. They were inexperience last year and I think that's what hurt them in the State Title game, but that's not the case for 2021. I'll take the Flyers.

This one should be a great game, the Flyers have been good but does Franklin have the top tier level athletes that Corbin has? With the amount of college level talent on the field for the Redhounds, would it be considered an upset if Franklin pulls out the win? This should be a dandy of a game and good luck to both teams.

You very well could be right but if FC is gonna put that many point on this defense they better have a line with depth and pack their lunch…

how is huff the starting rb never played a snap for corbin .. will he come in and start over mills and take his touches ..? I wouldn’t think so … also ive heard the elam kid is better than the combs kid

I have watched Corbin play both games this year and I think FC will extend drives on Corbin running the ball and with the underneath pass. I have watched FC games also, their ability to run the ball will expose Corbin linebackers this week, I do not think they are tough enough to stop the big backs of FC. I also think Corbin will score as many as they want to if they spread the field and throw the ball. I can not predict a winner, they are too evenly matched. This game is going to come down to whoever steps up, whoever is more physical, maybe even whoever has the ball last.

The score prediction wasn't my point. Most teams could get big yardage, and force turnovers against Western Hills. You know I'm no Corbin fan, but they probably ain't gonna give up 10 yards per play.

Running Back has been offered by Wisconsin and only a Junior best RB I have seen in Kentucky in a while, as good as there offense is, I think there defense is better. Corbin has grass I think, that might slow there speed down some. Yes should be a good one.

Huff won’t start over Mills they’ll be on the field at the same time only the latter has the ability to play at WR, the slot, or about anywhere else you need him.  It won’t be taking Mills touches the ball needs to be spread around there’s to much talent for one or two kids to get all the touches.  Elam is one heck of an athlete but playing against Whitley Co and Franklin Co is like day and night.  Can he end up being a better qb than Combs? Maybe, but at this point imo no just because all the intangibles that Combs has from having 2 years under his belt.  After Combs graduates Elam should have enough varsity reps under his belt to come in and shine and then the comparison could begin but trying to compare them right now is unfair to both of them especially since one is injured and wants to be on the field.  Nice try though, go figure one of the worst Smell Co fans of all time would come on a forum to try and start dissent on a team he hates especially since his is way at the bottom of the barrel and looks to stay there for the foreseeable future.

Corbin by 10 . Greer is the best coach they've had their in a long time. Especially in big time games.

Franklin 30-24

This will be a dandy of a game. Right now, as bad as I hate to, I can see Franklin getting the win. Nothing big but maybe a 24-17/20 type score. I think experience and health may be the deciding factor. At the end of the year, once Corbin heals up, gets all their players, and gets going, I think Corbin will be scary good and maybe the best team in 4A without much argument. How is FC’s depth? That is one thing I know Corbin has a ton of. Someone said earlier that Corbin probably has more overall talent but Franklin may have more “right now” talent. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Corbin comes out and wins by 2 tds either.

Huff is a different animal when he is in the offense. No brainer really. With a blocking line, it puts Mills at a million more possibilities and a little fresher. Mills is from another planet his self and With all the offense healthy. They are like a runaway train. Kade Elam is just a baller. Cannon for a arm and does stuff you just cant teach, the "it' factor.  My opinion on Combs is, let the boy use his arm a little. The Wayne county game his Freshman year was no fluke. He can find his target. I like Combs. I think he has looked really good and with the experience, he will be calm in the storm. Kade reminds me of ole Clemson QB, Trevor Lawrence.

I agree, Huff and Mills are absolute studs and will make for one heck of a backfield combo. It also lets Mills stay fresher and to move around to just be a playmaker. The talk about the freshman Elam being “better” than Combs right now is insane and an unfair comparison. Elam may well be a better QB one day once he is older and more physically mature but as of now it is nowhere even close. Combs is built like a grown man, has just as strong, if not stronger of an arm and has 25+ starts under his belt. Elam is a freshman kid with 1 start against a team that the hounds could have beaten by 80 if they wanted to. The only way the freshman beats Combs out before he graduates is if the OC runs Combs 20 times every game to try to keep him hurt. If you don’t think that is a possibility then you aren’t paying attention and definitely didn’t go to both games and see the differences in play calling. One qb leading the team with 17 carries against a great team with some huge, talented players vs zero carries against Whitley for the other. If Combs can’t play against Franklin, the hounds may have a tough night, I guess we will see in a couple days.

K. Elam is gonna be a star. But like real stars, it takes time to get all the hydrogen, helium, and everything other element and let gravity mold it into something special. Kade needs to work on getting stronger, faster, speed for the game, timing, etc. and time and some experience will mold him into something bright. And from the looks of it, kids gonna be a supernova But it’s just not his turn, or tome right now. But the future for us is very bright!!

Yes they do. He’s another Superman! I saw a game where he single handed stiff armed and rolled defenders out of the way to a victory. I think it was Rockcastle game. He had a Jordan moment, everyone knew who was getting the ball. He flew like a bird into the end zone. Game over. Love to see him taking some handoffs.

Combs has been my favorite for awhile, I really thought last year would be a breakout year but play calling wasn’t in favor of that. It’s like having Tom Brady at QB but using him to run more than pass. Combs is in beast mode this year. He has nothing to prove. Just open up the offense and let him work.

I got to watch game film some yesterday of Franklin’s defense . Love those linebackers how they stuff the run. I don’t think any team will run over top of Franklin I’ll say there run defense is the best in the state and there’s not another even close. I do see a way out. Spread them out.

They play 8 or 9 in the box filling the gaps on the run. That’s why I say spread them out. There linebackers are the heart and sole of there defense. They are well coached. Big.

Corbin has a nasty defense too. I like our defense as a complete unit better. Our run defense is right there too. We just play our linebackers a little different. Franklin smothers the gap. I like our D lineman better. That will be a challenge for Franklin to stop or D lineman. There fast and STRONG. Going to be a fun matchup. I’ll be honest Greer could put a defense if he wanted too on that line and I’ll call it a no fly zone. We just haven’t played them on both sides of the ball.

More to come…..

Don’t forget the cutback lanes, that where Kade makes his living. He is smart and patient runner for Franklin, when he gets defenses overcommitted he hits the lane at 100mph. Backside must play the back hip, and backers gotta fill. If he gets through the dl level he can be a wrecking ball in a China cabinet. I don’t see them beating anyone downfield through the air this year.
Offensively when they load it up, gotta take shots downfield. Good post Bull.
