December paper shows Thomas Dotson made all state third team defense as a guard for the 2A school outside Pikeville. Schedule shows game with Johnson Central, home and home with Betsy Layne and road game to Mullins. For the junior season had a 5-5 record and senior season 6-4. Tough four team district with Hazard & Whitesburg. I looked for linescores in his junior & senior season to see if he had scoring plays on offense, just not may scores on saturday morning in paper. Coach Mike Riffe i found as head coach. Would Aubrey Taylor have been assistant with team?

1980 5-5, 1981 6-4, Just wondering JC did make the playoffs in "81 lost to Prestonsburg. Just wanted check for my records.

Basically every copy from 1979 or 1980 can be found from August until December.

They used to cover Johns Creek with a decent amount of attention. not as many write-ups as Belfry and the WV schools, but several articles about Johns Creek, Pikeville, and Elkhorn City for sure.
