Greenup Co. suspends Coach’s and Player immediately
#61
lets keep this simple.

The kid was cleared twice. The address was confirmed and he was ruled eligible. Who gives three shits about the assistant coach. Even if it was quid pro quo I don't see an issue. There are literally hundreds of schools and players this can apply to.

At the end of the day it sounds like he made a enemy some where. It sounds as though this isn't about the kid or the coach but something else.

So for all the experts out there this may be a situation where the kid did right and the coach did right and the lady that handed him the letter simply not have liked him.

The aau coach deal appears to be the trigger here. It's also possible that only one parent moved... There are several things that could have played a role in this decision. What's certain is that this exact scenario has happened before and kids have been ruled eligible. EVEN WHEN other schools have questioned it. The KHSAA tries to hide behind the "we can't investigate without a complaint" but the fact is, there are complaints filed where they look the other way...

I don’t see why they are pushing the issue with this. I’ve heard worst with football program in the state.

Lets just get it out there. Greenup plays Lewis in the 1st round of districts. Lewis hired a private investigator and reported findings to KHSAA. Greenup and Lewis split regular season games. Now they get Greenup in March without the top rebounder in the state. Also hearing that other local schools were in on the filed complaint.

If having an AAU coach on staff is such a big deal, then why do they allow high school head coaches to coach AAU teams in the summer? Think they're doing this to keep their coaching skills sharp? Lol.

From all the sources I’ve heard from, Coupon is spot on as usual. He speaks the truth, as usual!!!

From what I have heard about Coupon I think he is spot on. Only thing about hiring an investigator and turning someone in things like that have a tendency to return somewhere in the future. Just saying!!

Well if you can't beat square up then just dig up what you can. Get a couple of coaches fired and a player removed and then maybe you beat em. I hope Greenup kicks there ass
#72
I know the kid, he is a great athlete. He has been in 3 different HS and actually has college offers/ interest. Hope and wish him well.

That very likely is the case. I'm sure there are worse issues out there.

I don't have any knowledge of this situation, other than what I have read, but how "petty" is it to have another school district hire a private investigator to look into this matter. I don't have a problem with disciplining the coaching staff, but the kid should be eligible, in my opinion.

If they spilt regular season sounds like both teams were pretty even. If Lewis Co would have put this much effort into their coaching they should have been fine but I get it, this was easier than to actually putting in the work to win.

Haha, they hire investigators for middle school sports so not petty at all to do it for high school.

Is the principal at Greenup suspended as well for hiring the asst coach? Should be if not.

Also, does Greenup now qualify for district tournament? By vacating the games, that means not played, their for they dont meet the requirements to participate in post season tournament.

“The GC Director of Pupil Personnel is now the interim head coach? And he’s the same guy that confirmed the player’s address, not once, but twice? This story smells fishy...I can’t wait to hear the rest of it!“

The Superintendent made a statement that said there is not an interim coach. The remaining coaches will all coach.

The paranoia is awesome. Especially the private eye part. As for the rest of it, you don’t even know what you don’t know. Keep posting your conspiracy theories though. They’re amusing.

Anyone head the final of this one tonight?

The suspense is killing me! Who won?

I believe Lewis Co. won 79-59.

well i would normally say that's a good win. I will say its a win that the Lewis County and coaches if they were competitors should not be happy with. You couldn't beat a good team at full strength so you take the cowards way out.

But for all those that dog pile on Perry Central now you have the blue print to bring them down.

now I will pull for either Ashland Blazer or Rowan to come out of this region

Well He’s not wrong! That’s exactly what it sounded like happened. I’m really hoping this Kid at Greenup wasn’t a senior. It sucks that there are grown men out there that would knock a kid out of playing a “game” he loves to play just because he was talented and was a threat to another schools season record but if he is a senior it makes it that much worse for the kid.
