Class 1 A Championship Pikeville 43 Paintsville 0
#31
Congratulations to Pikeville. Wire to wire. Very determined team. Enjoyed watching their talent Week 1 when I came up with Bardstown.

Pikeville STILL hasn’t played a meaningful 4th Quarter snap since Belfry.

Congrats to Pikeville on their 5th tittle and from the looks of things...many more to come! These kids put in the work to get what they wanted and now the have memories for a life time!

Big question ahead for class A football! How does one leave Hazard for Perry Central ??? Is there things going on that we don’t know about? Will Paintsville fall off after their P burge class has finally moved on?? Will Raceland continue it’s decline ?? Can NCC get back to where they were the last time they was in class A....will they be looking for a new coach after talks of their coach headed to Highlands? Was Williamsburg a flash in the pan?? It’s gonna be a interesting off season!! Let’s get it on hahah

By the way somebody put some Hickory on that crow, it was preordered that way.

Congrats to Pikeville, WOW, what an awesome team. Congrats to paintsville for a good season as well. NOW, I’m gonna open up the can of worms. I know VERY LITTLE, if eastern ky football, is there bad blood between these 2 teams? What I couldn’t understand was, running clock in third with over 8 minutes to go, why would you still be playing starters in 4th quater?
#38
I’m still confounded by that reverse wishbone set. You can out muscle less talented teams with it if your Paintsville but with an exceptional team like Pikeville, I’m not sure why they thought that would actually work? Baffling. No threat whatsoever of two of the backs in the backfield touching the football is a disaster. After watching a whole game in person I was surprised to see it ran that way in the first quarter. I’m more accustomed to watching traditional power run sets so I have to admit I was intrigued when Paintsville first lined up in it. After a glimpse of the playbook out of it as the game went on, I was perplexed by the strategy.

It unquestionably wouldn’t have mattered anyway with the superior offense that Pikeville has. Paintsville wasn’t going to stop Pikeville from scoring but at least the loss wouldn’t have been as bad if they had a pulse offensively.

Exit Ramp 1 in Kroger Holler (23/119 corridor) is now closed. Your turn, Belfry

I don’t think it was bad blood but more so the fact that this is the seniors last game of high school football or maybe even football in general. The score definitely wasn’t ran up or it could’ve been 70-0. They quit going to the passing game and was just doing handoffs to Hensley and Rains while trying to get Pugh touches on screen passes.

No running up the score in this one. Both teams did mass substitutions at the same time.

Thanks, I’m not accusing them of trying to run up the score, just seemed kinda unsportsmanlike to keep starters in with that big of a lead, I figured must be some bad blood there. Congrats to both teams, a lot of teams woulda Loved to be on that field today. Glad Mayfield doesn’t face Pikeville, they are REALLY good.

Wow, a lot to unpack here. Paintsville will be right back in the top 3 in class A next year. We return a lot of talent. Pikeville will be the favorite and Raceland will fight Paintsville tooth and nail. Not a lot of changes however, Pikeville probably will have some growing pains early next season.
#45
Congrats to Pikeville. I was very impressed with their O-line.
#46
How many starters will Paintsville return next year?

Don’t know the exact number but roughly 2 or 3 OL
QB, 2WR, and the young Phelps will be in the backfield

Defense about the same because, well, we are class A and a lot play both. lol

Paintsville will be good again next year. The young receiver #4 is going to be really good. I heard he’s a freshman. He runs good routes and is a solid defender.

He should be used to it. He's horrible at predictions.

Congrats, I give credit when it’s due!! Pikeville played a great game and we didn’t!! Never thought it would be that lopsided! But congrats to those young men!! I am eating my crow for all those that thought I wouldn’t!!

Though it was called back for hurdling Cody Raines TD run was one of the best runs I've ever seen in high school football...I have always heard it wasn't allowed though I've seen it happen dozens of times with no flag until today...regardless that one belongs on the highlight reel.

Yep, that was me after I seen a prediction of Pikeville 49-14. Never would have seen this. I never made a prediction on here, but I did tell a few Paintsville and Pikeville buddies I could see a 3 TD win by the Panthers, just because I thought Williamsburg exposed our pass defense.

With that being said, congrats to the Panthers on title #5. My great grandfather (Panther football alumni) is smiling ear to ear for y’all.

As for my Tigers, congrats on a great season. We finally got over that hump and got back in the title game. Underclassmem, you know what you have to do to get back there next year.

Tiger Seniors, THANK YOU. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Thank you for building on to theTiger tradition. Good Luck to all of y’all in your future endeavors.

I’ll take the black crow, hickory smoked, pepper jack Mac, collard greens, and a Miller Lite.
#53
Congrats to the Panthers. Definitely the best team today. Congrats to the Tigers on a great season . Everyone thought it would be a down year but these guys didn’t let that happen.
#54
Pikeville to strong & fast for the Tigers today. Panthers running backs broke every initial tackle attempt and would plow on for 6-8 yards when hit in backfield or at line of scrimmage. Congrats to Pikeville on undefeated season. Proud of Tigers for their season and making to title game. Coach Cherico has done amazing job bringing Tigers program back from almost extinction to where it got to today.

Game was set from the first snap. Believe nerves had a big affect on our Tigers. Played out of sorts all game like Spud described. Congrats to the Panthers they played a fantastic game. Pikeville boys didn’t even physically look the same from September. Individually just looked stronger. I thought Macnamee threw the ball extremely well. Passing game for Pikeville was on point. Hated to see our boys State title game go quite like that but hopefully most of them took Something from it that they can build on. For JWP, J. Allen and the other seniors Thank you for everything you boys have done! A LOT of blood, sweat and sacrifice has went into winning Districts, regions and State Semi’s. As always to Coach Cherico, our fan base appreciates everything you and the staff do every year! The coaches always sacrifice the most every season. With that said.........

BOY IS PIKEVILLE IN TROUBLE NEXT YEAR!!!

Gave you crap on here, but congrats to Paintsville. Runner up hurts, I know. Been on both sides but I give credit where it’s due, you gave our boys credit, so props to you.

And... NOT AS MICH TROUBLE AS PAINTSVILLE WILL BE IN! Lol

Something I noticed in this one compared to the 9-8 matchup. Paintsville ran man to man defense on Pikeville receivers. But in the first matchup they played mostly zone it seemed if I remember correctly.
