Reading back through the game thread, while there was some pressure, it appears that young Mac (3rd career start) faced a zone pass D after two games of man coverage. 2 INTs in the game but Pikeville forced 3 turnovers from the Tigers.Im just labeling it as a bad beat on the LOS because it just seemed they could not establish a running game in that first game. My memory gets worse with age but it just seemed like they would pick up 1-3 yards on every carry but just couldnât break a big run. They were without their normal Center though still back then, and that was obviously a factor. Regardless they got the W and thats all that matters. I expect them to have more success this go around and Raines to break a few big runs.

Paintsville will probably have the best overall player in this game, but Pikeville very well could have the next 4 of the top 5 total.
I just hope it's a great game and that both teams escape injury free. Either way, this will be something they ALL remember forever! Now go make memories, and represent the mountains well!

^HL Preps picks Pikeville, all 3 panelists at Courier-Journal pick Pikeville, that other site picks Pikeville, Calpreps picks Pikeville.
All of which means everyone knows Pikeville is very good but means nothing in the outcome of the game. Take care of business Panthers and bring the championship back to Pikeville where it belongs!

For this to be a 1A game, there is plenty of talent. #22 and #77 are excellent defenders for Paintsville and Pikeville obviously has several really really good football players.

Oh absolutely! #22 is very talented. He'll be the best player on the field tomorrow. #16 will surprise some folks as well. He's a very physical player and I've loved watching him play over the years!

Doesnât matter to me. I donât recall saying anything about the weather playing a factor in this game. I said everyone wear your ponchos. If it quits at noon, thatâs great, I donât have to worry about getting wet and wonât have to worry about my 8 year old or 4 year old getting wet & cold like they did at the UK game.

PJDoug is a Whitley County fan and that is where he played. He likes other teams but he likes more to get everyone in a frenzy sometimes. He definitely is good at it, too. There is some teams he has some bad feelings towards some times. Corbin and Belfry are the ones he rubs wrong some but for most part he just like to have some fun with them. Mayfield is another one especially one of their posters. He is a good guy though. As always GO PANTHERS!!!

Was reading about Paintsville's team this morning and they will return a lot of talent for next season...if they don't win it this year they will be right there again next season and maybe the preseason favorite...along with their big brother 40 miles south on 23 ofcourse lol.

Is it game time yet. One thing the RPI did this year is have the best two teams playing in the class A finals. No matter what the mountains is bringing home the title. With that said I donât think either team is close to the same team they were first time around. Pikeville may be the favorite but the favorite doesnât always win. In 2015 and 2019 Beechwood was the favorite. 2015 Pikeville dominated them and 2019 Pikeville IMO was the better team. Just lost a heartbreaker. Thatâs why you play the game.
Since last time they played Paintsvile has changed their offense. I donât think they will be as predictable. The Panthers had very young qb and linemen playing that has improved over time. It takes time for younger players to get use to each other.
I think this game will be won in the trenches. If Pikeville gets the running game going like they did at Belfry and Paintsvile has to load box and go Man coverage. It will be over.
If Paintsvile can run the ball, control line of scrimmage and Pikeville has to only depend on its speed. It may well be a close anyone can win game.

Good luck to you guys and safe travels for the Paintsville faithful. Well we have waited all year and itâs almost here so all the talking is done itâs almost time to play the game. This maybe a first two teams in 1A this close (in miles) to play for a state championship but I really donât know if that is true. Going to be a dandy but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

I passed the Pikeville football team buses going up 23 today...I have to say, I have never seen anything like those in my life for a high school football team. I'll bet those things have to be in the half million dollar range, for each...Man those things are impressive.
