Pikeville vs. Paintsville (Class 1A Championship)
2000PHS Wrote:Just like the 1st time they played? I think the general consensus on here was Pikeville had the skill player advantage but Paintsville controlled the LOS on both sides.

Well, Pikeville's defense did hold Paintsville to 8 points the first game so they must have done a pretty fair job on the line of scrimmage on defense.
I think this will be a close game as it is always is when these two teams play. They know each other well and will both have good games plans for the game. One big advantage for Pikeville has to be the tigers losing Ray which I think was their best lineman and the younger Phelps on the outside as he was their only real threat at WR with his brother in the backfield. Pikeville having a healthy center which only played the first couple series the first game is also a big plus. They moved the ball well and scored the only touchdown of the game before he left with a injury. Just hope for a injury free game for both teams.

I know. Wow!Confusednicker
Hambley Wrote:Thanks for keeping up that Paintsville stereo type.... I’ll just keep hating.

It has been a running theme on here the past 3 months that Pikeville has improved leaps and bounds and no other 1A team can play with them. Zero argument from me about them improving but so has Paintsville. Pikeville at least knew their identity on offense and what they wanted to be early in the season, they just needed reps. Paintsville kinda discovered who they were much later in the season and have embraced it. Who knows, maybe Pikevillle does run them out of the stadium, but I think it’s going to be an absolute war, punch and counter punches until the end.
PHSFAN Wrote:Paintsville did control the LOS on both sides of the ball last time they played, especially when Pikeville was on offense. I remember being very surprised they were able to have such a big advantage up front. That has to change on Friday for the Panthers.

I’m gonna have to re-watch that game, because I remember a very competitive battle up front on both sides of the ball from both teams. Granted, my memory isn’t what it use to be, but I recall Pikeville having a slight advantage up front which is what won them the football game. Again, I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that The Panthers were missing a starter or two up front, or had some guys banged up & out at least in the second half, maybe Jet, or Hambley, or someone can correct me. What I am sure of is that Pikeville’s Matt Compton (#76) will be the best player in the box on either side of the ball. The rest of Pikeville’s lineman aren’t far behind & are playing as good as they have all season!! I for one can’t wait to watch what I’m sure will be a war in the trenches!!

Pikeville skill > Paintsville
Paintsville line > Pikeville

If you think pikeville is better in both departments then I don’t understand how the 1st game was close at all, much less a 1 point game.

And I don't understand how you can say that Paintsville controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball but only managed to score 8 points on offense.
I just rewatched the game! Man there will be a great #76 but he will be in blue! #22 worked #76 all night not sure what game you watched! He has got better and I see they play him both ways now but man he doesn’t have the foot speed to block #22 which is why they started to bring the back over to help him in the first game! And someone mentioned #22 only had nine tackles but failed to mention that 5 of them where in the backfield! I I can’t count the pressures he had to force the early throw!! This will be another classic game but the improvements I have seen with both teams favors the more run dominate team that plays great defense! Someone also talked about the Williamsburg putting up points!! Very different system with a mobile QB! The screen game or big play is what Pikeville is great at! Both of which Paintsville plays well! The first game came down to tackling and kicking! Both teams do well at tackling and one made their kick and the other didn’t!!
^Pikeville probably watching the Williamsburg tape where #22 had 1 solo tackle + 1 assist.
Pikeville playing at a very high level right now. Paintsville hoping to see Labor Day Pikeville but December Pikeville playing at much higher level.
I watched the tape again to and didn’t see all the hurries you are taking about. I did see two but they were on screens where 22 was released. I understand that you think he is best that ever walked the halls of Paintsvillle and he is a good player but I have watched a bunch of game tape and haven’t seen him dominate any games. I’m sure it won’t affect his game on D with him playing much more both ways either. I guess we will see and that’s why you have to lace them up and play. I will come back and eat my crow will you Suge???
Lol! That’s funny!
Not to give my resume but been doing this a very long time! I’m sure our definition on domination is different! I think when a team shows the respect to run away from you is a certain level of domination or when they have to block you with 2 or more which he has all year long! I’m bias sure but also seen enough players to understand what I’m looking at not to mention playing the game for 20 years never hurts as well! Also I have no problem if I’m wrong about this game! I will say it loud and proud if I am!

I just watched that game again and what you said about the two players is not the truth. Most of his tackles came when Pikeville block down and he was untouched and did make the tackle in the backfield. There was only one threw that was hurried in the whole game by the Pikeville quarterback. Now I do believe Paintsville line out played Pikeville in the first half and the second half I thought was about even.plus I watched the Williamsburg game last night and they connect with #8 just about anytime they wanted and they were not screen passes either another one of you tales. Now those passes where in the second half also. Just tell the truth and I want aggravate you any more. As always GO PANTHERS!!!

Yeah Suge Pikeville doesn't have anyone with your knowledge or playing experience. LOL.

Now I agree with you again that’s bad. I truly do believe that statement.
Lol, I’m sure the don’t but you said it not me!!

You have with 84 quotes that’s impressive
I was referring to Pikeville using the screen game and yes #8 was a very good player from Williamsburg and so is #10!! I give both those young men respect, they can play some ball!!

How bout 1,2,3 and 10 from
Pikeville you think they might be able to play after watching them live and on film???
Ok one more time.... Paintsville SUCKS
Actually #4 is the best player for Pikeville to me but you didn’t mention him!! I think if you stop him you beat Pikeville!!
Was just talking wr like 10 and 8 from the burg. Yes 4 is a dandy and 8 is to. Pikeville’s LB crew as a whole is as good as you will see also.
KHSAA ruled today that Kash Daniels has one game of eligibility remaining and will play Friday against Pikeville. :flame:

The last time Pikeville was undefeated in 2014, Paintsville beat Pikeville. The next year Paintsville was undefeated and Pikeville beat them. But that is not going to happen this year, Pikeville in a close one 21 to 13.

Or the one that got smoked by Hazard. Or the one that got smoked by LCA. Or the one that squeaked by Williamsburg.

You could create an All-Star team of Pikeville’s last 2 opponents and they couldn’t beat Williamsburg. We both hammered Williamsburg hard on here but at least on offense they could ball. I’m assuming you watched that game, they had some very good WRs and Ponder did Ponder things.

It may just be wishful thinking on my part but I feel that Paintsville is the best team Pikeville has played in a long time (this year) and that is going to help.

Well it appears we just aren’t going to understand each other. Sounds like my Ex! Haha

Kash wanted to play his senior season at Pikeville...maybe the KHSAA will finally allow him to do so.

Pikeville has several good players that any coach would love to have on their team. They are undefeated and have a win over Belfry. Pikeville is the ultimate test and the appropriate opponent for a state championship.
