Kentucky Mr. Football talk

Patriot1 Wrote:Now we have talked about a lot of players but another one is the receiver from Male, now he is behind Smith in receptions and yards. But he also won a state championship last year and probably this year, he is a UK commit and he is from Louisville which helps. They also play a tough schedule. Now FoSho you know I want Jackson Hensley to win it but if he don’t I love him just the same. Good luck to all these young men all are great athletes and cases can be made for them all, just glad I am not one of the people who have to make that decision.

Cummings is a great kid from an awesome family. 👍🏻

I've heard the same about Hensley. 👍🏻

Cummings and Hensley both are great players. I’ve seen more of Hensley than I have Cummings. Hensley is an amazing player. Looks to be very smart and athletic. The sad thing for both of them in this is brand. That’s no fault of theirs. Both have made major impacts on their teams. You’d think Cummings would have a little bit more attention going to UK, and maybe he does around loserville.

I'm very curious to know which game(s) you watched that led you to decide that Michael Mayer is a lazy football player.

I would say he should be in the conversation, Top 5.

What has his teams done in the playoffs? Does he play D?

Ryley Preece from Johnson Central. Amazing QB, runs a complicated offense without hesitation as well as anyone I have seen. Usually the best athlete on the field. And a great DB. The numbers won’t wow you, but the football IQ is off the charts.

If playoff performances are to be taken into consideration, then Wandale Robinson had no business ever getting a sniff at the award. :eyeroll:

Regardless, McCracken has been 2-3 in the playoffs in the last 3 years. Hayes has played some defense. I've not seen him in person (simply providing stats), but it appears from his numbers that he either has seen a scant amount of time on defense, or hasn't really been much of a defensive presence if he's spent any notable amount of time in the game. He has 11 career tackles and 3 fumble recoveries.
Never mind.
If I was putting together a ballot of finalists, it would look like this:

Beau Allen – QB (Lexington Catholic)
733-1132 passing for 11068 yards, 123 TD’s and 27 INT (64.7% passing, 15.1 yards avg)
241 carries for 1034 yards and 18 TD’s (4.3 yards avg)
45 games played
141 total TD’s

Reese Smith – WR/DB (Boyle County)
21 carries for 202 yards and 3 TD’s (9.6 yards avg)
176 receptions for 3926 yards and 57 TD’s (22.3 yards avg)
169 tackles, 1 TFL, 0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 23 INT, 3 pick-6
46 games played
64 total TD’s (includes 1 passing TD)

Franklin Hayes – WR (McCracken County)
117 carries for 442 yards and 11 TD's (3.8 yards avg)
132 receptions for 2523 yards and 33 TD's (19.1 yards avg)
41 games played
46 total TD’s

Jeriah Hightower – RB (Madisonville-North Hopkins)
515 carries for 5573 yards and 61 TD’s (10.8 yards avg)
6 receptions for 70 yards and 0 TD’s (11.7 yards avg)
38 games played
61 total TD’s

Reed Lanter – QB (Boyle County)
512-762 passing for 7962 yards, 93 TD’s and 15 INT (67.2% passing, 15.5 yards avg)
65 carries for 57 yards and 1 TD (0.9 yards avg)
47 games played
94 total TD’s

Michael Mayer – TD/LB (Covington Catholic)
93 receptions for 1944 yards and 26 TD’s (19.9 yards avg)
243 tackles, 21 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 INT, 2 pick-6
40 games played
29 total TD's

Jayden Stinson – QB (Mayfield)
398-614 passing for 7645 yards, 94 TD’s and 18 INT (64.8% passing, 19.2 yards avg)
79 carries for 112 yards and 5 TD’s (1.4 yards avg)
43 games played
99 total TD’s

I would say that WanDale is on a completely different level and talent.

But post season success would definetly come into consideration for some voters and I was just curious if he had any other intangibles that would enhance his profile.

It’s all about the numbers. Nothing else matters. Oh and signing with UK

Great list.

I'd like to see what the QBs win/loss records are too. I know Lanter has a state title and the MVP of the game. I believe his record is 37-2 as a starter.

Stinson has to have a great record too.
