^Your expectations are lower than the goal always is at Pikeville. The goal is and always has been much higher than a title appearance. Go Panthers.:Cheerlead

Love your attitude Jet, these Panthers donât want a piece of the pie they want the whole pie. With that said just watched them doing some work on Twitter and they are hard at it. Love these Panthers and their work ethics going to be interesting year but still a lot of work ahead of them and hope for injury free year for them and all teams. Seems like I seen some new faces but I donât know them all so I could have been mistaking but as all ways GO PANTHERS!!!

Last year was a masterful job of coaching by Coach Mac and really showed his chops. He took his lumps early but had a solid team come November.
I think they get at least one Finals appearance the next two years.
Panthers are starting a run similar to what Belfry has experienced in recent years. With the talent they're blessed with, look for several final appearances in the foreseeable future. Don't be surprised to see this incoming eighth grade class in a final appearance at Kroger Field as well. Super talented right on down the line. Just hope all team members stay healthy from here on out, and keep the enthusiasm that surrounds this program.

I do think Pikeville has the potential to go on a very nice run the next several years.
Great talent coming up for a Class A program and the new facilities will help some I'm sure.
Class A is just so watered down with the 6 class system, I'm hoping Pikeville's enrollment will one day increase enough to play 2A.

I believe PHS stays at maximum # of students every year and has a waiting list of students trying to get in.

PHS participated in 2 -A classification 1978 - 79, even making it to the 2-A championship in 1979, and losing to Ft. Campbell 26 - 0 on a cold and icy field In Louisville. Good players on that team like Bob Shurtleff, Kenny Damron, Doug Charles, and others. Pikeville School District had a waiting list in those days too. My child was on it, and finally got enrolled.

That's true PT, and look how well Coach Howard handled class 2-A that season (79) by making it to the finals. Just wondering how single A would have worked out if there was no move up.

It's hard telling. Paintsville got beat in the semifinals that year by eventual state champion Bellevue 0-7. In the final Litkenhous ratings that season Paintsville finished with a ranking of 70.7., Pikeville with a ranking of 73.6, and Bellevue with a ranking of 76.9. All of this obviously means nothing.

Have a lot of respect for Pikeville's program, M'boro and Pikeville had some great battles through the 90's and even into early 2000's.

I agree with Jet this team is special but they have a lot work in front of them. Probably no comparison to those teams 2000 PHS is talking about so no one should compare them. They will make their own history be it good or bad. Hope they play the game with their hearts and soul to leave it all on the field. As an old footballer thatâs one thing I told my son when he played, you better enjoy it because it will be over before you know it. So the season is almost here and I am wishing it was already but donât like wishing my life away. These young man have a great opportunity with all the talent they have and itâs their opportunity so what they do with it is on their shoulders. With that said good luck to all hope for a injury free year for all teams and I hope all the Pikeville Panthers fans as I know they will get behind these young man support them and with that said go PANTHERS!!! PS : welcome are new fan PJDoug he says he is a Plesant View fan from afar

Sorry to hear that but my thoughts are with you and your friends family but me being from Belfry I really donât know a lot of people in Pikeville except football and baseball parents.

Really believe there's great things in the future for them if they work hard and stay healthy. Appreciate PJDoug being a fan by proxy. I'll buy him a hot dog, and a drink if he makes it to the PCB. If he stays the whole game, and cheers for the Panthers, who knows, a maroon t shirt may be in the deal.

I'd like to make it to the PCB . I remember coming up through there and going to Jackson's Mill as a kid. I've been lucky so far and hope a bunch of pirates never catch me and make me walk the plank. lol

Aahh, don't think there would be a problem with the pirate fans. They do some good tailgating over there at their part in the PCB. Great bar b cue, hot dogs , etc, and treat you right. They just love their football like we do.

Well I like PJDougâs Whitley County team and my Pirate team wear red (and I am an old Pirate at the time when Williamson and Belfry was the big rivals PJDoug and they were marron) when I put that color on the first time it made me itch but now I love it so even though I am a Pirate of old and still keep up with them, I am a Panther fan now and love these Panthers and as always go PANTHERS!!!
