Doss vs Corbin

RealJokersWild24 Wrote:Legit question: when did the first black kid attend Corbin High School (and stay longer than a week or two... as I've heard people who attended Corbin High talk about how they would try to see how quick they could get them to leave for daring try come... in the 2000's).

2018 Corbin may be better than 1990's Corbin, but 1990's Corbin is basically Civil Rights Era for most other places... kind of a "nicest guy in prison" or "most sane person in the insane asylum" there.

looks like "paperboy" is still steering the pot (NORTHCORBINSOUTH) with FAKE NEWS. I can't believe a bunch of grown men on here expressing their jealousy and hatred toward a school, community and town while inciting a racial overtone because that schools dominance in athletics and academics. I have 5 nephews and 4 nieces that are interracial before any of you morons decide to call me racist.

You do know that there is a black kid playing at union college that graduated from Corbin last year right? Keep talking out your rear end, you're just showing everyone how ignorant you are.
#63
Are they playing the Doss game, if not why? Single Wing or Cherokee? Who canceled?
#64
I honestly don't know, I'm nothing more than a guy who goes and watches the games. I hope they didn't cancel it because I'm looking forward to watching it.

I was referring to the basketball team. I should have been more clear. With that said, if you are bragging about one black kid coming through that school system, then you are part of the problem.
#66
A shame. All jokes aside. I really can’t believe they care more about sports than humanity at corbin. This is really disturbing. Let’s just close the tread.

I doubt you know me, but if you did, then you'd know I don't need to brag about whatever your "paperboy" allusion is to, nor that I am "jealous of Corbin"-- I'll invite you to come visit me in Texas sometime if you think I have some kind of jealously toward Corbin and I can show you around the neighborhood. That gave me an awesome laugh. The suburbs between Austin and San Antonio are definitely no Corbin, I'll give you that one though.

As to the underlined, yea.. what about that? Sounds like what people say about this town back where I grew up. Ironic, isn't it?

Corbin has been successful in academics and athletics and I'll acknowledge that. The racial incidents at the school have went on far too long while administration turned a blind eye to them, and that is what I have a problem with.

When I say town where I grew up, it was meant to imply that Eastern Kentucky was "back where I grew up". So well, let's get it all. I live in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas now. Just so we're clear, and if you don't believe me, look it up, but I have no reason to be jealous of all the monstrous wealth and achievement of Corbin, Kentucky. :notworthy

And still no clue what "paperboy" is... I work in oil and gas. I can also formulate more coherent thoughts than "fake news" taunts that stopped being funny months ago and my insults are usually sensical as well. See how that works?

Jaguarhoundbird Wrote:Most animosity directed towards Corbin comes from the fact that any of those things you listed would never happen if they had to do like every other school, and play with kids only in their school district. Heck, most of the basketball team should be playing at other schools. Lol. Couldn't care any less personally, but that's where the animosity/hatred or whatever comes from.

Which schools should they be playing for? surely they didn't steal some of my Colonels.

You seem to be lost. Everybody knows I don't like Corbin. You cry every time Corbin wins and try to keep the racism going.

Single Wing 77 Wrote:Every school has kids that are from "outside their district". You can name any school in the tri-county area and I can name specific players in specific sports that live outside their district. For most I can name kids that live in Corbin's district. Does Corbin get some kids? Yep. It's the 13th region, kids transfer all the time. Nobody cares when a star basketball player from Williamsburg transfers to south Laurel for his senior year, or a linebacker who came up through the Corbin system is Lynn camps third leading tackler though. Those schools don't make a big deal about it, and their not fueled by jealousy. They want what is best for the kids. The true reason everybody in this area hates Corbin though is because Corbin ended most of their careers in one sport or another. Knox is specifically fueled by Corbin jealousy. "They hate us cause they ain't us."

The player wasn't originally from The Burg. Corbin doesn't go by the book and you know they dont :dontthink

I could have sworn I saw a black player on their football team. I must have been seeing things.

I was pretty sure that I wasn't hallucinating when I watched #3 sacking quarterbacks.

TheProfessor33 Wrote:How many African American students attend Corbin Ind schools?

Contact the Board of Education and they can get you that info. I would guess between 25-50. I'm guessing more would enroll if people from outside who are Corbin haters would quit fanning the flames of hate.

Corbin has had black athletes for the last 10 years or so, might want to do your research before you spout your mouth.

He went to Williamsburg from his 7th grade year till the end of his junior year. His dad lived in London and his mom lived in Williamsburg. His senior year he decided to move in with dad. I'm sure playing at south had nothing to do with it. That being said, I don't mind. I'm happy for the kid, and he was a really good player.

As far as "going by the book" goes, I seem to remember a kid that plays running back for Whitley that came up through the Corbin system transferring because he was promised X amount of carries a game. Is that "by the book"? There is more than one kid who played middle school ball at Corbin who now suit up for the colonels. Once again, I don't mind it. I'm seriously about what makes the kids happiest.

You are referring to one after stealing hundreds over the years? The one you refer to was probably from the county to begin with. lol

If Corbin schools knew better than to pull things like the yearbook stunt and if they didn't make the news for athlete's social media posts then everyone would probably give them a break. Things were just on a systematic level where it didn't look like any change would occur until outside attention was drawn to it.

I don't think WKYT News or WYMT News is perpetuating these stories as some part of a massive conspiracy to keep people of color from enrolling in Corbin schools, but that's just my guess.

Maybe more would enroll if the town's history wasn't what it is and ugly incidents that continue to make it look bad didn't continually occur. Corbin has a ways to go and I hope it gets there, trust me when I say that I'm for them to do it and make positive changes (and yes, I know the same could be said for lots of places). I think that the whole idea of drawing attention to what has happened is to prevent things like that from happening again.

This isn't some conspiracy to keep black people out of Corbin High School. Corbin itself has done more in that regard than anyone on an Internet message board could.

Moved to have a chance to go to Rupp (Or EKU) on a better team obviously. But they did legally move.

After getting caught up in a lie about where you came from on this thread last night, you are still on here steering the pot. When you get caught lying your credibility loses substance and realistically (because the fact has been established) people may perceive you as a lair. I think that great quote you used about perception being realistic is spot on in your case.

Back about a month ago Knox was scheduled to play on a Tues up at Mercer. Knox called the DAY BEFORE and told MC that they couldnt make it because the roads (bridges etc) were too treacherous to go to Mercer. The DAY OF the scheduled game it was 40 degrees! So it sounded like KC didnt want to drive 90 miles to get their spanking. Mercer went down there the week after football season and got beat by KC, (and the three blind mice in striped shirts! Just kidding Leader, dont get all worked up again! And that my friend is "The Legend of the Frozen Bridges of Knox County"!!!

I just have to wonder how someone who lives in Texas knows about a year book photo at Corbin high school. Word must travel fast and be really accurate amongst Corbin haters. My money is on the fact that you don't even know what you're talking about. I'll bet that you're just regurgitating propaganda that you've heard from your haterade drinking buddies. Either that or you are lying about where you live. Which is pretty possible considering you've already lied about where you're from.
