East Middle's 8th grade lost by 1 point to Boyd Co. in the OVC finals this past Sat. they are both very good teams.
7th grade tournament getting started up this weekend. Looking to be a good one with solid competition. I look for Valley to do well. Rowe is a really good player. They would have won 6th grade last year but she got hurt.
6th grade is up next. Best teams are Rockcastle, RW Combs, and Meece. I still say RW combs wins. They have 2 best players in state with the #23 Hoskins girl and a new one they got in, #1, Size will be the only issue for that team though.

Valley defeated southern pulaski for state title. congrats to Valley they were far beyond any competition this weekend. That group stays together the will be playing for khsaa state titles in a few years. Southwestern future looking good also 8th grade state champs and 7th grade runner up not to bad.

Not an excuse, but Clay County had 2 very good players out at the 8th grade state. I am not big on the "ifn" game but those 2 would have been a big help. Any way, congrats to Southern!

Told you all Valley would win it. 2 championships down and 1 to go.

I'm sure Valley was head and shoulders above the rest. This 7th grade class will be able to drive themselves to their games as freshmen in a couple years.

RW Combs plays Meece first game of pool play Saturday should be a good game.

Should be a good game.

RW Combs Beat Meece 50 to 21

Looks like RW is in elite 8 as well as Rockcastle. Meece is in gold bracket.

I have no knowledge of them, but so what if they can? I get so tired of hearing this. If you turn 16 on or after Aug. 1st of your freshman year you are eligible. It means if you will be 19 your senior year in high school on Aug. 1st or later you are eligible, it is perfectly legal. That option is open to everyone's child.

Looks like my July predictions were pretty good as Rockcastle won 6th grade state today. GREAT JOB! if i am not mistaken 12 region had 3 of 4 teams in final 4 Rockcastle, Mercer, South Pulaski that feeds into Southwestern. Rockcastle vs RW Combs game was a dandy with rock winning on a last second shot. 3 great weekends of girls basketball.

Very good games. Thought Monroe and Mercer was an awesome match up. Mercer, of course winning that one. Rockcastle and RW was the best game and felt more like a championship game. #41 Brown from Rockcastle is definitely best 6th grade center in state. #23 Hoskins from RW is hands down best overall player in state. Rock could not stop her. Right now she's Miss Kentucky ball. I'd put these 2, #14 and #12 from Mercer, and then #14 from Monroe as the best 5. Meece ended up not living up to the hype.

#14 from Mercer is Anna Drakeford and #12 is Timber Yeast. Good weekend of basketball. #41 from Rockcastle was really good and #2 from Rock was a lights out shooter

Thanks for the names. Rockcastle #2 is a good shooter, but nothing much else. Also, with a defender on her, she didn't do a whole lot. So I wouldn't call her a lights out shooter. She's also slow and uncoordinated. What is RWC's 23's first name? I know last name is Hoskins. Also what is Rock's 41 first name? Definitely all these girls will be fun to watch in upcoming years.

Did Shelby Valley play in the 6th Grade this year ?

I watched RW for the first time tonight. I have to say I was very impressed with number 1 (Proffitt). I got to see her play at JBS once last year. She continues to get better. I have never seen anyone that can handle it and pass it like her at this age. You can tell she really understands the game. She will definitely fill her sister's shoes someday.

Maybe good as some of the 15th region teams because it's the weakest region in the state and they are plenty of competion out there for them

Yeah, hold them back 2 years so you can have a good ball team. Then give them every academic award there is. Makes the other kids feel real good doesn't it. Costs the taxpayers a lot of money as well. These are some of the same people who started their kids at 3 years old,so they could have babysitting. The guidelines for Headstart just curve a little for them. Then on Sunday--put your other face on. I'm sure it's all worth it. I think there is some wrong in there somewhere.
