Who has the best upcoming talent at the middle school level for girls in East Ky?

No question for the next couple years it's Shelby valley . Talented and big. Season could get to be boring to them if they don't get some teams to travel in and play. There as good as high school teams .

Aren't they HS age? They should be as good as HS teams.

No they are not high school age unless you consider 13 high school age. When you work hard and improve people always bring up age. Get in the gym and work or find another sport!

After the North Laurel tourney this past Thursday - Saturday 8th grade looks like Clay is team to Beat Southern Pulaski close 2nd in this area. 7th grade was the same Clay and Southern had 2 epic games with clay winning both. 6th Grade Rockcastle has to be the best team in state they are far beyond the others in this area.

I agree Rockcastle has a very good 6th grade team.

Come on you know that isn't true. They will be high school age next season when they move up to the 8th grade.

Any other teams to watch out for in Pike, Floyd, Johnson, Martin, or knott Counties?
08-21-2016, 02:25 PM
What will Hazard, Johncon Central or any Floyd Co teams put tigether?

Not really eastern ky. But I'd put Lincoln co 6th&7th grade against any in the state.

Lincoln won 6th grade state last year.

Rockcastle County has a strong team. Pretty big for 6th grade girls team

I like the Rockcastle team, good size and nice skill set

I'm glad to hear that Rock has some promising talent coming along. We know what Coach Noble can do with talent.

Belfry has a very nice team. Big girl can play.

I'm curious to know why no schools in perry or knott will play hazard. Does anybody know the answer

Valley is having a classic on sept.10 if Hazard wants to join in. East Carter, Owsley and Jenkins will be there also.

Added Somerset!

They can play, no doubt...but I question the age based on 3 players bigger than the coaches

RW combs has the best 6th grade team in the state. Watched them the other night, and most are saying they are the best team to ever come through RW. They aren't the biggest, but definitely most skilled. I say they win state tourney by 20.

Biggest kid is 13. Only one kid 14 the rest is 13 or below
09-09-2016, 12:11 PM
other teams will catch up to them....our 7th grade team starts 4 6th graders who all turned 11 this year - so that kind of explains it too....2 years difference in girls of this age range is a big difference

I hope they do well in the future!

If you're speaking of SV the girls that age are probably 7th Graders not 8th Graders.

East Carter's 8th grade beat Shelby Valley in the finals of this tournament on their home floor, does that elevate them to best 8th grade in Eastern Ky?? I know they've lost 1 game since they've been in middle school.

If SV was considered the best but they lost to East Carter at SV one would have to say East is probably better.

On July 31 I posted that Clay Co and Southern Pulaski were two of the best teams. Today at KBA Southern defeated Clay co. for the state title. Southern also hit a shot with 3 sec. to play to knock out Shelby valley. The Final four were Southern, Clay, Walton-Verona, and South Marshall I think. Congrats to the LADY WARRIORS for winning State and having some exciting games for fans to watch.
