Belfry @ Pikeville 9/16/16
#61
Late 2nd, or early 3rd quarter running clock. 2016 Belfry is the 2nd best mountain team ever only behind 1987 Pikeville.

There's videos on his Instagram of 425 x 2 and 475 once. A certain recruiting guru in this state told me "no one on UK's team benches 475" so I sent him the video... maybe that's what their problem is!

I guess that's why everybody has a option I played then this teams better

Horton's one of those rare type of players

Big Grin

I've not got to see Ray Horton! Is there any video on this kid? If he's putting up numbers like that he sounds like a Beast!

Yeah. Maybe something like those numbers would be a clue for them.
Impressive numbers for sure.

Imo, a classic case of looking a gift horse in the mouth. UK needs to wake up.

I am a UK fan.. But at this point why would Ray want to play for UK..I get SEC..but ..he's playing for a tradition rich winning program.. Kinda hard to go to a 4 to 5 win team.. Mentally that's a hugh change... Great kid l wish him the best ..

Well Pikeville's oline is giving a hundred pounds and about 4 inches across the board and the same on there dline depending on who we got in and our skill positions are very fast I can't wait to is what Coach Mac tries to game plan he is a great Coach I'm sure he will get the best plane together.

Just going by what everybody from eastern kentucky has told me for years. If I remember correctly that 87 Pikeville team was the number 1 team in the state regardless of class, and ranked top 25 nationally. This belfry team is probably about the 4th best team in the state. I'd put them behind Trinity, Male, Bowling Green, while still something to be proud of not quite the same as being number 1 in all classes, and nationally ranked.

Maxpreps has us #2 behind Trinity and #81 national but like I said that's my opinion I played against that Pikeville team This team is more athletic and bigger and our big guys are all good your intitled to your opinion and I'm intitled to mine and mine is this group is the best

I have to say he's a man child I've been around him since he was 6 and you will not find a better kid he comes from a great family

I heard Battle has been really sick the last couple of days I hope he gets to play toworrow night

FWIW,

Think killbilly is being a little sarcastic in his 87 Pikeville praise.

There was a thread that went numerous pages extolling that team and their virtues and some of the urban legends about that team were debunked.

I think killbilly is taking a little jab at those people. Wink

I have no doubt at all that Horton would be more productive than Matt Elam RIGHT NOW.

Folks - I bleed blue. But Mark Stoops ain't it. He has been given a fair chance to get it done and UK is as low as they have been in years.
#76
I think your spot on Alum. Killbilly was arguing just the opposite on that thread. He will not talk in favor of the Pikeville Panthers. Truth or not.

I must of missed that thread lol

Has this kid not received an offer from anywhere? Big, strong, great feet, hands and IQ is HIGH! 1:30 second mark shows just how high his Football IQ is! Rarely over runs his play! Someone HAS to make it their Job to get this kid looked at! We have too many kids in the eastern part of our state that stop playing football after highschool that could use that skill for a college education! I felt all year last year that Pugh should have been on A LOT of colleges radars!

Ray has offers from Ball State, EKU, WKU, FAU, Tennessee Tech, Morehead State, Brown, Toledo and Miami Ohio.

Be nice if a big school has a couple decommitments and he can fill a roster spot. His talent will show where his measurables may not.

Morehead State doesn't give Scholarships for football

WKU may be a good fit! They play ball! Would of course rather see an SEC team grab him! What is Ray's height? Sorry if I missed it somewhere!

The men in red come out with a chip on there shoulder they don't like the way they played the last time we played over there

Just some background on this series for those who may not be familiar. Expecting a great crowd for one of KYHSFB's best rivalries.

Some of the high notes:

Longest Streaks:
Pikeville 7 ('35-'47)
Belfry 13 ('01-'13)

Largest Margin of Victory:
Pikeville 79 ('29)
Belfry 48 ('12)

Average Score:
Belfry 18.8
Pikeville 16.4

Belfry leads the series 35-31-2 according to PHS records, which may be incomplete. There is also a question about the 1956 contest.

Pikeville led the series from its start in 1928-2008. Belfry took the series lead in 2009 and has led ever since.

The two schools have combined for 9 State Championships with Belfry's 5 and Pikeville's 4.

This will be the first meeting between the two school's as reigning State Champions.

That's not true, I just have no use for people that start a thread to belittle someone else accomplishments like the 87 Pikeville vs 2010 mayfield thread. There was another one on 09 highlands vs 87 Pikeville started. I don't forget someone that belittles another program. I'm not anti Pikeville I was actually pretty nice to jetpilot in the thread following Pikeville upset by paintsville in 2014 playoffs. If you take a stab at me I'm sure going to jab you back first chance I get lol. I'm looking forward to seeing belfry scores against knoxville catholic, and cabell midland. As to this game Pikeville is up against a juggernaut this year, no shame in losing handily to belfry this year. Belfry would likely be favored against everyone in kentucky except trinity, male, and bowling green, and they would probably have a good chance against those 3 as well.

bac2369 Wrote:Belfry has 3 games and 3 running clocks...

Not necessarily saying this game will be a running clock, but dating back to last season, Belfry has had a running clock in 10 of its last 11 games against different levels of competition. The Corbin game in the playoffs is the only game that hasn't been a running clock in the last 11.
