Buckhorn 54 PCC 51

I hate to disappoint you Iris but the Paparazzi has a whole hell of a lot more class than that and I know my basketball. In my opinion that was probably the best officiated games I've saw all year and I don't recall ever blaming a loss on the refs this year, period. I love my team and supported them till the end. Buckhorn outplayed, out coached and out hustled us all night. They wanted the game more and they deserved to win. Bottom line! If PCC had made a huge effort to take the ball inside to Tobler and played inside out the outcome would have been different. Congrats to coach Noble who is my friend, and the whole Buckhorn family! My hats off to you!

I want to add one more thing. To the idiots that want to downgrade a fine kid like James Blair you should be be ashamed of yourself. He used to play at Buckhorn but I'm sure felt like he could better himself at PCC and make a name for himself, which he did. He's a great kid and in my opinion the best player in the region. I will be supporting the Buckhorn wildcats next week just like I did Kcc the last 4 years.

The little guys playing at Rupp. You got to love it

And somebody please tell that young bunch of whiners to get off their diaper butts and try to act like teenagers, not 8 year olds. The seniors have the right to tear up a little, most have just played their last game---understandable---I guess some underclassmen need to quit popping that jersey before the game. This Bulldogs loving it !!!

You have to be a sad lonely person. They are kids. They lost in the region championship in overtime. Obviously you have never played sports or at least not in any game that matters. College kids and pros even cry after a loss of that magnitude. I'd love to smack some sense into you. Quit bashing kids your miserable loser.

It seems some folks just love seeing kids fail.

This is basketball, ladies and gents.
It's not a chance to puff your chest out and talk down because one group of teenagers was better at putting a ball through a hoop than another group of teenagers

Never lose sight of that.

BUT! While a lot of folks love to see Perry Central fail - I love seeing the 14th Region tournament decided between two Perry County teams and the banner going to the team that it meant the most to.

My wife, a former teacher at Buckhorn, was moved to tears to see how excited those kids were to finish off that win. I'll be in Lexington next week supporting the Wildcats.

Congrats to Perry's seniors on great careers. It's never easy seeing kids lose what could be the last legitimate game of their life.

I can't believe a Hazard Bulldog called someone a whiner! Wow! The same bunch that has never been defeated but just cheated! Never enough class to say we got beat! Never say I support the team that beat me. But what do I expect. It's called class. The Commodores showed plenty of it tonight. We got beat and we didn't blame it on anyone but ourselves. You might should try that little bulldog and quit your whining!

James Blair is a very impressive player. Improved leaps and bounds since last season. He was entitled to do what he wanted to do when it came to transferring to PCC. He really has shined. Kids a great athlete.

Great job Buckhorn

Congratulations to Coach Noble and the Buckhorn Wildcats!!! Good luck at Rupp!!!

Honestly I never gave Buckhorn much of a chance, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the final. It will only help the 14th region having more than two or three teams being contenders. Congrats Buckhorn. Congrats Perry on a good season, everyone gets upset now and again, this was just your time. Chin up.

Wow, congratulations to Buckhorn!! You guys will represent the 14th region well.

Tough loss for the Dores. IMO, (and what do I know?), Tobler was probably the best low post I saw all year. I would've fed that kid til he busted, but things happen.

Great season for the Dores!!

Buckhorn will represent the 14th well!!

Buckhorn crowded the paint with a zone and there were at least three sets of eyes on him every time the ball moved.

I think Perry could have thrown it over the top to him more often, but it was obviously Noble's plans to deny Damon the ball and take his chances covering all the shooters.

I also think Damon didn't press the issue on defense or the boards. He finished the game with two fouls... the first not coming till the latter part of the second half. Sometimes big men do that when you don't get them the ball on offense. I've seen it happen too many times.

Congrats to coach Noble and Buckhorn! This is why I am glad we have an all class State Tournament and not a state tournament for each class. Great to see the little guy go to Rupp!

Congratulations to Coach Noble and the boys in purple. With that being said, I'm just glad Dexter Campbell wasn't one of the referees......

First of all I want to congratulate Buckhorn on winning a regional championship. I do think the best TEAM did win. Not taking anything away from PCC, but to communities, parents and coaches who constantly think they have to have players come in to have a better team, this proves a good point. This championship means more to this community than a win by teams that constantly push aside players from their own schools so a coach can win some games or a school can have "bragging" rights. I give coach Noble and his school and community kudos for having some morals in what has turned into a moral "less" society. Hats off to Buckhorn.

This strategy is the only way Buckhorn could've survived. We played both teams this season; looks like Coach Noble did his homework.

Also, hats off to the Refs... That was a pretty awesome called game...

We can get on here and argue to we turn blue in the face. The point is that Buckhorn wanted it more and John Noble outcoach Hoskins period. Perry been to the sweet 16 1 time in the past 12 years. When Big Al left Perry so did the program.

Actually I think it was just the opposite. Yes they tried to deny him the ball but they rarely double teamed him, they were always shading the three point shooters. I believe John thought that Tobler couldn't score enough to beat them even if Shannon had gone to him every time down the floor, and that was the correct strategy.

As good of a shooter from the free throw area as Turner was, I would have had him catching the ball in the free throw area first, and who ever check off on him would have opened up three point shooters more and also made it easier for Tobler to score.

the kids at cordia, they make a decision they think best for them. but everyone else is talking shit about them.

5 of the 16 teams is 1A school. and 4 of the 5 school ranked number one in there region. there is a lot of 1A schools can hold there own at state in both boys and girls.

but for a team like Buckhorn. the last time they went to state was 1989 or 1990. when a team like this, it is that much sweeter when they make it.

I never said they double-teamed him. I said he had three sets of eyes on him. They fronted him a lot and there would have been more double teams if he would have gotten the ball, but in was rarely in his hands.

I can't agree with you on John's strategy though... I think Noble wanted to let Perry die by the three. When Tobler got the ball, he dominated. They didn't have anyone that could guard him straight up - most teams around here don't.

I'll second the idea of Turner working the mid-range game and playing some high-low stuff. I think Shannon didn't want to change things up because eventually their offense would come through and he dialed up the pressure on defense. They also could have tried to drive into the heart of that zone. They basically passed it around the key all night. I don't know that I saw anyone other than Dunn try to attack the zone.

Buckhorn really didn't change up much on offense from start to finish. They got what they wanted all night.

When we played them in the Mountain Classic, just about every single time he touched the ball, there were 2 kids all over him. Didn't matter.

Congratulations Buckhorn. Incredible victory!!

Congrats to coach Noble and the Wildcats!

Question. Does Buckhorn now have as many or maybe even more regional championships than than they do 54th district championships in boys' basketball? I am pretty sure they was a district runner-up when they won it in 1988 and/or 1989. Toughest district in the 14th region year in and year out.

Tobler CAN NOT score enough to win games. John knew no matter how many times he touched the ball 17 to 21 points is the most he would score. Holding Blair and Dunn to 16 total was the key to the game.

Will Coach Hoskins get fired? He has had a lot of talent the past few years and can't seem to win the big games when it counts. The fact that Perry has only been to the Sweet 16 1 time in the last 10 or 12 years is hard to believe. Last night was a bad time to lose a region game for the first time all year.
