Belfry 43 Lexington Catholic 0 (Class 3A State Championship)
#31
Congrats to Belfry they're the class of 3A this year.
#32
I don't believe Belfry has aloud an offensive TD in a State Title game since 2013.

Also someone please make sure Dougies crow is just a little bit undercooked :-)

Does the people in Williamson, WV get to keep that trophy for a while to? Dang WV team is dominating KY.

:Clap::1::1::1::1::1:

Congratulations, Belfry and Philip Haywood! Eastern Kentucky is proud of you!

Students who live within the county and / or pay tuition to drive across the bridge are legitimate players who attend school at Belfry-- Why be so bitter about it?! Most of these kids have grown up in the Belfry system, why do we even ask these questions constantly?

Furthermore, they don't "produce" or "recruit" good players, they BUILD them from the ground up from the time they are in 3rd grade! From that point on, Haywood has a hand in showing all the coaches what offensive elements they need to be teaching-- At each level, more and more is added to it! These boys are not born this way, they are built from hours of practice, patience, blood, sweat and tears-- maybe your coach should try it!!

Not jealousy, just fact. How much more proud would you guys be if you're own kids that grew up in your district would win a championship. I guess you'll never know.
#39
This is ridiculous-- I would hazard to guess that 95% of these boys played grade school ball at Belfry-- build a program, ground up, and you will watch what happens!
#40
With a team like mingo central and their coach, why would they not want to go to Belfry and play for a state title seemingly every year.

Probably feel exactly the same as this one does.
#43
Congrats belfry. I was very impressed with them. I don't see anyone in 3a making up any ground on this team with what they return next year.
#44
defense wins championships for sure.when your defense don't allow a offensive td in 3 straight title games, you call that the "RED CURTAIN"

I could be wrong....but, I don't believe there was a running clock against Corbin last week...correct me if I'm wrong.
#46
Congratulations once again Pond Creek Nation, from your friends down the road.

You are correct... never got to a running clock
#48
Haywood called the dogs off on Corbin when we had the ball on the 20 yard line ready to score to put the running clock on them. Went with our freshman team and still moved it on Corbin's starters. It would be crazy to leave starters in and a star player get injured and knock us out of a chance at state.

So not a running clock in 8 straight.

To add to your edit....

Most coaches would sub JV in at end of 3rd quarter in a game like that....not 2:00 left in the game.

You are right. My bad. The excitement has affected my brain. Lol

Congrats to Belfry! I'm not trying to take away from your championship... Just doing a little fact checking.

What's funny is someone trying to add facts to Belfry's run is stuff that's not true!

Congrats Belfry.. Well oiled and greased machine is hard to stop. They are jus so damn disciplined and do what they do to near perfection. Kids give 110% to the team

Let's see. Boyle Co and Lexington Catholic dropped to 3A and according to some dummies on here and around the state the Belfry run would be over. Well guess again. If that's the best the west has to offer then this run might continue for many many years. I'm sure we'll hear the same crap next year. I guess this was just another run of cupcakes Belfry went through to win it all. In all honesty LC was probably not in the top 3 teams the Pirates faced all year. I'd take Lawrence County everyday over LC. Better luck next year 3A west, you're gonna need it.

Lighten up Francis!!!! It was a mistake. Crawl back in your hole and let people enjoy their championship. What's true is there's not a team in 3A that could beat Belfry and really not one that could keep the game close. Enjoy your sour grapes, get ready for another romp through 3A next year.

I agree on the Lawrence County part to a tee. Everyone always says Belfry is in a cakewalk and a weak district, but Lawrence County would beat Lexington Catholic, Boyle and Corbin IMO. They where not slouches and could put up points.
