South Laurel will be the 4 seed (unless they beat Lincoln Co) in the opposite district. Good chance North Laurel will play South Laurel in district first round. Will more than likely face Southwestern in week two of the playoffs.
#34
Exactly, cause like you I still think that Pulaski will win the other district. If it plays out like that, then North should win the playoff opener pretty easily, though maybe not quite as easy as the first South game, then at least have a chance against SW since the game would be at North. But before we hang a district championship banner, I still think the game at Whitley will be very tricky.
#35
Regardless of other results, the Whitley game will be a tough one. Also lots of things can happen on the road at Perry Central in the latest edition of the Larkey Bowl. I'm not saying either or both will be losses, because they shouldn't, but anything can happen.

Laurel Cookie factory is in London, and they also have a bakery in town that I like to visit to get honey buns and other sweet treats Confusednicker:

All of this may well play out just like this, however, fans at North Laurel are just proud they are building some tradition there & making some noise on the state level (individual stats etc), breaking some school records. I have watched these boys play since I got back in the country when they were in middle school. If you haven't seen them in person, you should, they are an exciting bunch to watch, anything can, will and does happen. They can do a lot well & they do eat lots of cookies and cakes from the cookie factory I'm told!! Makes em' smart - strong football players!!! :betterthanexpected:

You're right, if there is anywhere that strangeness can happen its at Perry Central, but I feel a lot better about that game as the year has gone on, just don't think they will be able to score enough. But as long as Woods is healthy and on the field, Whitley will always be a threat in what should be a really high-scoring game.

I'm not trying to rain on the North parade, I have been a fan and supporter from day one back in 1991. Appreciate the passion and dedication you guys that are new to the program are showing on here. I'm just saying you came along at a good time, us oldtimers have seen a lot of lean years, I guess I just don't want to get too excited just yet. But I do think this and the next two seasons are really, really promising.

I agree, about the strangeness at Perry Central, you nailed that! Woods is the older QB, may make a difference, but Mcwhorter, is coming on nicely, everyone is excited about this youngster. The thing many may forget about NL, they have a lot of ammunition, they don't just have one RB. They have one racking up a lot of yds, but they have a lot of kids that can score, not just one. That makes it tuff on a team to determine from play to play just what they are going to pull off, when you have more than one that can score. I am hoping the lean years are over for North Laurel ! Their fans deserve teams in the future that are a threat!

I believe north is only undefeated team left in 5a.
#43
Go Jags!!!!! Let's get # 6!!!!!!

Talked to Chris Larkey Saturday at North middle and he was pleased with officials and how the game was officiated. So if coach is ok with officials thats good enough for me.

True, but don't get carried away with that stat. Playing the teams that they've played they should be undefeated if they're going to contend in the post season. Plug in several teams, (Christian County, Bowling Green, Pulaski County, and Fern Creek to name a few), and they would be undefeated against the same schedule. North has improved by leaps and bounds and Coach Larkey has done a great job, but regular season wins against a weak schedule can't be the complete measuring stick when you are expecting to have success come playoff time.

One thing hard to wrap your mind around is why so many of these teams are so bad this season! Unusual year for some of these teams to be so down. I watch KHSAA page and find it really strange the teams that should be good that just flat aren't! Several ways to look at a schedule like this, hopefully not getting killed every game early on, a team will be healthy and if they can stay healthy they can continue to execute well during these games & learn something beneficial they can apply during certain situations as it goes along & be able to beat a good team when the time comes. Just have to see how it plays out come playoff time. I think North is playing one game at a time which is a good thing.

I can agree with some of your points. Confidence is a huge factor, and winning breeds confidence. It's also difficult to determine just exactly how good some teams are from year to year, and this effects your strenght of schedule dramatically. As I have stated in other posts, there's an art to scheduling. I am a firm believer that if your program has reached the level of being competitive in the post season and expectations are to go deep in the playoffs, you have to play a schedule that will prepare you for it. When you are building a program you obviously have no business playing a killer schedule, but if you are a playoff contender then schedule like one.

I know some times the fans in the stands (sitting up high) see things the coach's on the field don't see is one thing for sure! What I do know is that the NL fans, sitting all around us were livid over some of the calls & some I saw were very questionable, but they are in about every game. Also, if you are not down on the field in the fray, you DO NOT know what is being said by the kids & you can not see every single thing to call it. Calling football games is not for the faint of heart! North, won so ....:closed:

Some good post on here! Yes, North is riding high right now and all of us that are Jag fans should be all smiles! The regular season is only half over and with District play getting started they are a lot of football to go. Our boys need no extra pressure on a District title or any other record that has to do with North football. Thursday is the next game and that is the only game that matters right now. So while we all enjoy the success of this current team let's keep our thoughts in prospective. District titles and playoff games are a long way off, good thought but still a long way off. One game at a time North fans!!

I think Coach Larkey has learned to play a few politics upintheair. I'm sure he had a smile on his face when he told you he was ok with the calls?? Although he is harder on his team than anyone is.

He may get this crew again, what did you expect him to say? He can not say it but fans can, lousy called game!

Like Walter White said, there is absolutely an art to scheduling, and I can't help but think when Larkey was making this one out, one big consideration for him was his sophomore class was going to be a huge factor for this team. Don't think he wanted to throw too much at them in their first year carrying the team, although I think normally you would expect road games at Mason Co. and even West Jessamine would be trickier than what they were this year. Montgomery in the final week does look like a really good matchup, but by then all playoff pairings will be set, so how much do you play your front-line players with the playoffs looming?
#52
I'll give you Mason County, although they were 8-3 last year against a very weak schedule and graduated 15 seniors. They lost to Estill County in the first round of the 3A playoffs. West was horrible, 1-8, and little prospects of being better this season. The bowl game could have been a big help to schedule strength, but Harrison County has been awful. 0-11 last year. The sophmore class is a great group, but Steven Nelson and Jake McWhorter, along with the other seniors, make up a pretty good upper class themselves. Just good talking points, as Coach Larkey has done a tremendous job in building this program and deserves all the credit in the world.

College recruiters sat in front of us Friday nite, we ask them who they were there to watch & it was Seniors - Nelson & Mcwhorter. Over heard one say 'what a pair' more than once.
#54
I would quit patting myself on the back if I were a jags fan ,the combined record of your opponents in your wins is 3 wins and 21 losses! I can see why your the only undefeated team in 5a! Don't sleep on Whitley or Letcher or you could end up 2nd or 3rd in your district!

Letcher & Whitley haven't set the football world on fire with who they have played so far either! No one is any good this year for whatever reason?? :haters:

Woe woe woe!! Nobody is patting themselves on the back, more than once it has been mentioned one game at a time. As for being proud of our team, you got it and make no mistake in it!!! Don't understand all the shots at North, as far as I know, the only thing our team has done is play football?? So if you are looking for a place to troll, go somewhere else!!! Haters going to hate!!!!

Not hating NLFANS are saying only tough game will be last one of the year....hope you can back all the smack up!I can understand being proud of your team but your not going to walk through your district like you think! So far you have not played anyone that's any good! Last year was last year ,this is a new season and as of now your strength of schedule doesn't have you all a bit over confident!

I think every NL fan on here has at one time or another mentioned the schedule. NL didn't have access to a crystal ball, who knew they were changing districts & all these teams already scheduled would be down this season? I don't know anyone who could for see this playing out this way. Jag fans are just enjoying the wins right now. These teams didn't roll over & play dead, no matter what the scores indicate!
