Paintsville Tigers 2015
#91
Did Donte Hendricks get offered by Prairie View A&M ?

Mike Minnix, Dave LeMaster+Joey Couch are the best the best to play at Paintsville. Kash very well might end up in that conversation if he stays healthy. He is a football player!

Don't forget Tony Mayes..

Tony was a tremendous football player. All SEC at UK and played on the last UK team to defeat Florida and Tennessee (clinching INT) in the same season. He went on to play for the Buccaneers and Cardinals in a short stint in the NFL.

I watch Bobby Mullins, Joey Coach, and Tony Mayes all was great high school players. I would put Kash on their level. The only differance is the quility of teams Kash plays against. When Bobby Mullins, and Tony Mayes played at Paintsville they was playing and winning agaisnt good teams week in week out.

Would not place Couch in that conversation. He ended up a much better college player than he was a high school player. But, he did receive a scholly to UK, I guess that ranks him pretty high at PHS. It just irks me to this day knowing that he could have been so much better if he would have put in any work. It was frustrating for the coaches.

Matt & Ryan Brown weren't too shabby either.
#98
BJ Ward was an excellent high school running back. I believe he was a three time 1st team All-State player.

Daniels is a beast. Nobody up front
Who all do they return?
A very good bunch coming back.
bac2369 Wrote:Who all do they return?

Everyone except the following.

2014 Seniors Losing to Graduation:
RB/LB Damien Belcher
WR/S Payton Smith
WR/RB Don'te Hendricks
TE/LB Gabe Burchell
Greg Castle
WR/K/P Luke Daniels
OL/DL Darrell Sherman

RB/DB Kent Phelps will return to the lineup after a season off from shoulder surgery, and WR/DB Matt Miller (if he plays) after sitting out for knee surgery. Both were starters in 2013
Give me a break down redneck??
bac2369 Wrote:Give me a break down redneck??

Key Returning Starters:

QB/LB Kash Daniel
WR/CB Luke Trimble
OL/DL Jonathan LeMaster
OL/DL Dylan Howard
TE/LB Darren Morris
OL/DL Trent Childers
CB/RB Dalton Daniels
DB Silas Stambaugh
Rest of Oline and Dline

Add in Phelps and Miller returning from injury
Kash Daniel:

Passing: 84/160 for 1113 Yard 13 TD 3 INT

Rushing: 1038 yards on 118 carries 10 TD

Defense: 180 tackles (111 solo, 69 assist) 4 INT (2 for TD)
Thats where I see the most improvement to be made. The defensive side of the ball. Offensively, they did enough in the Regional Championship to win, the defense just didnt have enough to help Kash out. Seems like he made the first 15 tackles of the regular season match up and the same in the Reg Champ.

Offensively, having Phelps back should make a big difference, as he will be able to go off tackle or bounce runs outside. I think they will be fine offensively. If they dont shore up the defensive front and get Kash some help at LB, it will be the same results for our district/region as last year. If they do, its anyones ball game.

Saw this on Twitter, Kash Daniels visits Louisville and Ball State on Junior Day! Hopefully another PHS Tiger is headed D-1 !
Tough schedule ahead but the team will be ready if Kent Phelps is good to go :1:

That's great. Good to see local boys do well and get recognition.
I think the 5th place team may have a shot at knocking off the 1 seed in the other district...
Our districts Top 3 will all advince to the 2nd round. And more than likely two of us meet in the Reg Champ
looking forward to 2015 here in westwood..ill say all the chips are on the table for the eagles this year. Paintsville at home should help..but tigers are mighty strong with few numbers. also trip to ram land should be interesting....wonder if we will go empty backfield..with five receivers again!! by far best district in 1A in the state
Good calls from Scotty and scrappy, I'm buying in !
Any chance any kids coming from JC to Paintsville?
bac2369 Wrote:Any chance any kids coming from JC to Paintsville?

Living in such a small community as Paintsville, there is always going to be hearsay and rumors because the kids from both sides are good friends. However, being a JC fan, I would say probably not.

If kids were going to transfer it would have been last season and it happened with Belcher. He felt it was the best move for him at the time. JC was very youthful last season and have a lot returning to a team that went 11-1. They now no longer has to have Highlands, Cov Cath, Lex Cath, or Boyle...which were 4 of the top programs in the state. The road to BG looks much easier for JC.

Paintsville will still have to compete with Pikeville, Williamsburg, Hazard, Raceland, Fairview, etc to get there. For that reason I say not, but you never know. Either way, Paintsville is going to be tough with what they return and Phelps back in the mix.
Should see good early season match ups next season..
Pikeville vs Paintsview.. Hazard vs Pikeville later in the year and Paintsville vs Raceland and Fairview. Hazard also plays Fairview.
Hear Paintsville will play Frankfort and Williamsburg! Any truth to that?

I have heard from several people that I still associate within the Paintsville vicinity that it is true. The names do have a lot of appeal due to their previous history but I am uncertain on how good of a test these two games will be. I read on another board that Williamsburg loses 15 Seniors, 12 of those gentlemen being starters, and Frankfort graduated 11 from a 30 man team this past season. Outside of Raceland and Pikeville, the schedule should be very manageable for what Paintsville has coming back.
Williamsburg most definitely lost a special group. But they do return a few starters on that team.
Paintsville will give Raceland all they can handle. Especially with the regular season game being played in Paintsville. I like the schedule Paintsville has put together. The Raceland posters always brag about their schedule, well, the Tigers have put a pretty good one together. Could the ghost of Paintsville's gloried past be stirring up some new found pride???

Paintsville has definitely increased their schedule strength for '15. Racelands, imo, still has the edge in SOS though. Ashland, Russell, and Lucasville Valley(OH) are possibly all probably tougher games than Williamsburg and Frankfort will be next year. This past year, if the schedules looked the same, that may not hae been the case. Fairview increased their SOS as well, so, IMO, we will know more than we ever have about our district, by the time district play rolls around. Kudos to Paintsville though for beefing up the schedule. Paintsville playing Frankfort/Williamsburg/Pikeville, Fairview facing off w Hazard, and the Raceland/Paintsville/Fairview games, should not only give a representation of how each team is, but exactly how our district stacks up with other districts from the East.
