JMO honest opinion, this year Evans had a better year. Cam is the better player.

COTY- Whitaker - Powell Co.
whitaker has done a great job up until the last game against Estill. Powell didn't return any starters from the previous year and have no height, but have managed to be in every game this year. But Friday night he was not on his A-game, he's loaded with JR AND Sophomore talent and refused to use them, he did a horrible job with subs, and waited until the team was down 26 points before playing the younger more talented kids, they pulled Powell back to within 11 points and basically run out of time because momentum was on their side. The refs didn't help either, but that's a road game for you. So over all he has done a great job and has to be considered for COTY but another game like the Estill game on 1/23/15 will most likely put him out of the running.

I think they both are clear
POY to Justice
COY to John Noble...if anyone was like me a few years ago I had no idea Buckhorn would develop their team to what it is now. After that class with Matt Day left I thought they had nothing.

If Justice isn't player of the year then they should do away with the award. As far as coach of the year that is usually on politics and or sympathy....Letcher's Coach has won the award 2 times and has been out of the regional tournament more than he has been in it. BB has 3 regional titles, one runner-up, and more wins than any coach in the region during that span and has never won the award. Crazy!

Justice is hands down the player of the year and second is beverly, not hall
01-26-2015, 09:53 PM
but if it's gotta be a senior, Hall is second

^ it does and Hall would still be if it did.

Yeah and that should tell BB King what his peers really think of his coaching ability. Coaches are the ones voting on this.
E. Hall is a great player but people get real, Justice has been the best player in the 14th region for the last 3 years.
Every team in the region game plans for Justice and Hall is still just averaging 14 points a game. I think Hall being great has a lot to do with him having Justice on his team.
But hey, i understand, you knott county fans want to get on here and take up for Hall because he's a real knott county kid, and i know alot of knott fans will never admit it but some of them are jealous of Justice. I've heard it myself from some knott fans.

Justice is having the worst year of his career. He had a much better year last year. Hall has been wy better. I have said for the last 3 years hall has been the straw that stirs the drink. If hall goes Down with a injury knott is done. It would hurt bad if justice goes out but they could still manage better than if they lost hall.

^ I think that's a bad statement...
IMO, Knott needs all 4 of their senior to win and it's been that way for three years... That's what makes him special...
Christian is the best Defender in the region, and Chance Cornett gets as much done as anyone...
With that being said... IMO, Camron Justice is still the top player in the region... Dont act like he's having a bad year, 24 ppg is pretty darn good...

Yes! ^^^the 5th and 6th guys on this team are important as well. Without the addition of Austin Combs I don't believe they would be favored to win Region this year. He filled such a hole the had on the team. And Cameron having a bad year? Correct me if I am wrong, but last I heard he was shooting like above 45% from 3...Last year was clearly his best season, but he had to do so much MORE! Hall wasn't near the player last year as he is this year.

Are you kidding me 45% from three is a bad year!!!
Check your NBA and NCAA % leaders..45% is filling it up. I know he shot 56% last year but wow!

Team with best record never has a coach of the year. No one will vote for someone who beats them everytime for 4 years. BB has the best record over a 5 year span than any coach ever in the 14th region. Period...look it up!

You need to go back and read my statement again, I never said he was having a bad year. Someone above me said he was having a bad year, so that's why I brought up the 45% from 3. You need to read my statement more clearly

Fairce Woods won 5 regional championships in a row from 1958-1962 at Breathitt County.

I didn't say he won more titles, I said wins. Teams play more games now than they did then. That being said BB has a chance to be the second coach in the history of the 14th to win 4 straight titles but hasn't won a coach of the year!

^Yes!! Referring that to a very good season

When I think of coach of the year...
I think of a team that you can tell wouldn't be where they're at without the coach.
With Knott, I honestly couldn't tell you that they wouldn't be at the top of the 14th with any other coach around here.
I could say that in my opinion that very few coaches could be as successful at Buckhorn or Letcher as Noble or Hammonds.
I mean let's get serious guys... on most nights around here Knott's kids could call the plays themselves and it not be close.

In other words they must have had some great coaching in practice day in and day out. You just gave the ultimate complement to Coach King!
