I couldn't believe how small central was when I seen them against St. X. Oddly, their quickness made up for it though. If it wouldn't have been for several key blocks from St. X, and two costly interceptions by Central, this game would've been a lot different than what the score indicates. Really St. X didn't do that much offensively in the grand scheme of things. That poses the difference between these two teams. Central will live or die taking risks on both sides of the ball. So far they've gotten extremely lucky and the breaks have went their way. One thing they can do well is isolate Armstrong in the red zone. They haven't seen a lot of these situations because a lot of what they score on is big play after big play. However, if it come down to a one-on-one situation close to the goal-line, Norfleet can throw it to the corner and he'll bring it down. I'm sure Haywood has that situation well in-hand though. I do think Belfry wins the battle up-front. They're not as big and quick, but it's nothing Belfry hasn't seen before. They've probably seen better actually. I see it being within a touchdown either way at halftime, and regardless of whom is ahead at the half, I'm going to place my bet on Haywood's halftime adjustments to put an end to any run Central may make in the second half. I don't like picking scores in championship games because there's too many variables to consider, but I do think Belfry pulls this one out by at least 8-10 points. My "pick-to-click" player for this game is Rayquan Horton. I think he comes to play and has a season best in tackles, and I'm sure Stanley will be big as well.

There were times against Bell where Central had 7 men down and 4 up all within about 4 yards on the ball. I hope we have a game plan for it. With rain in the forecast, I'm worried about fumbling. We've learned you cannot fumble against the Jackets.

Has Belfry ever played a state chanpionship in white pants? Because I believe we will be wearing them on Friday.

According to the SEKY fans on here that would be a gift from God for Belfry. Running teams suddenly become super human when it is raining.

You may end up matching DeSales' uniforms by the end of the game.

I was wondering about that. They haven't been in all Red the entire season.

My favorite Pirate look is red jersey, white pant. Such a clean classic look

I believe in 1979...we played in the whiteish gray looking pants....very light colored with a red/black stripe going down leg.
Only time I can ever remember a Belfry team not being in red pants.....(state championship games)

My favorite as well. I really don't like the red on red look.....

EKUAlum05 Wrote:The Central player that has jumped out to me so far watching highlights aside from Beason and Norfleet is Clavon Armstrong. He only has 26 Catches for 376 yards on the year but he may create some mis-match problems for Belfry.
He's got the best size of their receivers and seems to have the best athleticism and the most physicality of the lot. He is their best deep threat and has ability to make circus catches. He is also a viable threat in the kick return game and hurt South Warren with that aspect last week.
I anticipate Taylor will draw that assignment an should have ample speed to stay with him. The Belfry kick coverage needs t know he is not a guy you simply hit on returns and expect to go down. His game is kind of the style of a Dez Bryant... not really the guy they are looking to for a 10 yard gain... he is the guy they set up for the deep ball. Whatever side of the field he is lined up on is also the best bet they run to if they are trying to get outside.
This is definitely a concern....especially with the speed Central throws at you.
We've given up good yardage on seam crossing slants...and I suspect we'll see more of that Friday. Also concerned about rush containment on the QB. Can't give up trash yardage on QB scrambles......

Well if you wear white and win you'll never see red pants in anymore championship that belfry plays in while Haywood coaches. I've heard he's very superstitious.

Since I was posting on my cell phone yesterday, I'll elaborate for Central fans/Non-Belfry fans. Belfry has 4 possible uniform combos. We have obviously a red/white jersey, and then a pair or red/white pants. For as long as I can remember (EKU can probably tell you the year it started) we have only worn red pants for "big games" - Pikeville, a district game or two, and the last few playoff games. After the Pikeville game, I believe Coach Haywood has "taken" the red pants from the guys. Here's a look at the 4 combos in order of my favorite.
1) White on White (What we'll be wearing Friday)

2) Red on Red

Heading to BG, glad to hear we are wearing white on white, it's my favorite uniform combination, never have been a big fan of the red pants.

The all white does look smooth.

If you polled those who "played" football at Belfry Red on Red would be the overwhelming favorite uniform.
I don't dislike the white, but as soon as a crucial starter gets skinned up, starts bleeding, and has to miss a pivotal part of the game the white pants will be history.

IMO I don't think Central has seen a team in the playoffs as good as Belfry. I look at the Central-v-Bell Co. game and I think Belfry is much better then Bell and I still think Corbin is better then Central but they let the lead slip away for whatever reason. I think the Belfry defense will be to much for Central.

I love Belfry' s uniforms. They are some of my favorites at any level. You see them and you think of traditional, honor, and excellence.

I "played" and wish they would put the red pants up forever. I understand the significance of the red pants but I just don't care much for them.
