Week 1 that would be Danville in Southern's place

Both Principals got into it over "rockgate" and they decided not to play. Southern's principal Chuck Cash is a Rockcastle reject anyway.

I don't know man. I don't see the principal of Rockcastle throwing a fit over anything about this. I know her well enough to know she'd be for the game being played for the kid's benefit and the large gates. The vice principal is the sports director and I could see him butt heads if someone showed their arse over something, but again, he is mostly pretty cool and he would probably like to see the big gate moolah. I don't know Cash at M.S., but, I do know some of those Cashes with Rockcastle roots can have a stubborn streak. I used to hate seeing one Cash, in particular, come out to ref basketball games because he was a cheesehead when he was questioned about a call. I KNOW Coach Parkey wanted to continue the series, at least during last spring, because he told me himself he was dissapointed that it was ending. Coach Clark is the architect of this debacle from what I've observed and if he has put his head in there with a stubborn Cash, I'd say between the two of them, that is the clog in the plumbing.:flush:
But, that is just my opinion on things from observations I've made and things that I've heard directly for myself. I may not know what I'm talking about and things may have changed since I was in the loop down there at Rockcastle. It has been since last May that I really talked to anyone at Rockcastle and this past June since I talked to a couple of Madison Southern contacts close to the program.
Southern not playing Rockcastle after the 2010 season(2011/2012) WAS the principal at Southern's fault. I talked to him personally and he told me that it was his opinion that they shouldn't play anymore. That was Gilliam. My Rockcastle sons and my Madison Southern cousins were dissapointed because they didn't get to play against each other their senior year in the fall of 2011.
Maybe one of these years, they will all get their panties unwadded and realize that this game is a good thing with good gates, a rivalry(no matter what anyone on here says) and should be played. The schools are too close together not to play ball. Rock should also be playing Pulaski, Whitley, Southwestern and Lincoln. Too close, too good of gates. Too much parity not to be playing.

Cash is gone after this year anyways. Whos the AD at southern. If Clark wanted it to happen it would.

Papa...well I'll find out the details to this and get back to you. This game should be played even if principals say no. I'm not a Rockcastle fan in anyway in fact down right don't like the Rockets, but this game is a rivalry even if the record doesn't show it.

Danville is a good game to schedule but hate to see a rivalry end with a team that is just a few miles up the road.

Not trying to hijack the thread but........
Whitley attempted to get Rock on the schedule, but they could not make a connection. Not saying Rock backed out they just never got back to Whitley so the Colonels were forced to find another game.
It also happened with Clay, both of these games would have been easy travel games and are good games year in and year out and both teams get better from playing.
As far as Rock and Mad South....after having viewed the film of Rock and Mad South I can see why both teams did not want to play. "Rockgate" or whatever, these two teams don't appear to care for each other very much and sometimes it is better to let sleeping dog lay......

Rock and Whitley will play again sooner and later. I will say within 4 years. just couldn't get it to work this season. Rock and Whitley athletic departments work well with each other.
As for southern. they are the ones who did not want to play anymore.:eyeroll:

I agree. Whitley and RockCastle dont usually have a long absence before starting the series back up.

I think Rock will be just fine, they have a good coaching staff.

Why does rock play Somerset and Pulaski and not SW Pulaski. Seems like a logical game.
Would beat having to drive to whitley.

After getting the run around from a couple people I found out the reason. Southern did pull out of the game for reasons I understand but do not agree with. Safety of players is a big concern and that's all I'll share without starting a chat war on here...I'm just gonna say that both sides are immature and that goes for players, coaches, and administration ON BOTH SIDES. This series will pick back up sooner rather than later.

Ah me.......
If you remember a PM I sent you last spring....that text message that Coach P. showed me from Clark.....that has a lot to do with what I posted earlier on this thread and my opinion about things. I saw the text myself. Like I said earlier, perhaps when everyone gets their panties unknotted, maybe they will schedule each other again. And I DO understand why you dislike Rockcastle so bad from past experiences. I disliked them myself at one time when I was from the other community (Berea). It's just kids playing football is what I came to realize after time with a few nut jobs on the sidelines that leave the bad taste in your mouth and the bad memories in your mind for the duration. For the most part...it's all good.

I really liked the games when Southwestern and Rock would play. Always close and comptetive when SW had that one coach for years. They both played smashmouth for the most part and the games were on equal footing. I also have enjoyed the Whitley rivalry as well. THAT drive is easier, in my opinion, than say the Perry Central drive. Leaving from Hazard after a game (especially a loss) and driving to St. Louis the next morning for a Saturday noon college game in St. Louis sucked. We did both Williamsburg and Hazard to St. Louis last year to watch our other son play college ball after the younger one finished his high school games on Friday nights. At the time, I was wishing we played against Franklin County or someplace north and west from here last year.

Whitley is on the other side of the world from Rockcastle nicker:. can somebody from Rockcastle County tell me exact locations of Wildie and Scaffold Cane?

Northern Rockcastle. connects Rockcastle, Jackson, and Madison county. I close to the round stone community.

LOL.....they are down U.S. 25 just past the stix, then turn a sharp left off the blacktop toward Rockholds....nicker:
Whoops....wrong county.
Wildie IS north of Mt. Vernon and next to Roundstone on U.S. 25 which is where my kids went to elementary school. Scaffold Cane is on the Rockcastle/Madison County line near the Jackson County side in far Northeast Rockcastle County.....fairly near that bustling community of Climax.
The common denominator is that can get ANYWHERE from U.S.25.
Travel the Dixie Highway and see the world.....

Rivalry . A rivalry has to be competitive once in a while. Rock dominates u guys every time, it took having the most overarted no. 1 back in the country to even win a few. Glad to see this mis match end . Southern will return to the abyss without overrated harris.

7-3 should be the record or 8-2
If any thing less its a disappointment.
The reason is we have almost everyone back and should be better than last year.

You wont find a player more taleted then Harris. His toughness is the biggest question. Can he stay healthy? I Don't care for southern, but I wish him well. When a kid from this area makes to place like bama you got to pull for him. but enough about them and back to the rockets. Should be a fun year!

The Whitley game should be on the schedule.
I hate that its not.
And lol at the travel time. Its literally a 30 minute straight shot down I75. Rock is what, 2 minutes off the interstate, and Whitley about the same. Bus ride may be a little longer, but from exit 15 to exit 62, were only talking 47 miles, maybe 55 total from school to school.
I don't know about you all but driving 80 mph on the interstate make it feel like a short drive. Definitely better than going to our district games of Perry, Letcher, and Harlan.
