I dont worry about it. We played well the 1st half. Both teams sputtered offensively in the 3rd. It came down to who had it last. Ironton did and it finally wore us down.

Lol I hear you man good luck to you all the rest of the year and I agree with you was even till the fourth. It was a "hard knocks life" for us last year against you all! And I think you all are better team this year so win it all..

Never said that we would win anything including this game! And this poor little school crap excuse you use wow. For your info we would probably be A in Kentucky so chew on that mouth!

Ram a Devil was the ball not wet in first quarter or just the other 3 quarters? Cause sure completed passes in the first lol!
11-01-2014, 05:59 AM
That's what Ironton does. They just wear you down. That is what happened to Raceland tonight. By the 4th quarter that big line and those two backs have just taken their toll.
11-01-2014, 06:38 AM
It was the Backs more than the line. I was amazed at 32 and 22. They out ran their line and created their own space. Irontons line wasnt much better than Coal Groves. But their backs sure were. Im just glad we came out healthy. Imo, Paladino( sp) is a much more impressive and complete back than any we have seen. This game will make us better. I believe we came out of it all healthy. Looking foward to seeing how we grow from this point.

Sounds pretty reasonable what Scotty is saying. Game was close the whole time, Ironton made plays in the fourth and won it. Also, since Ironton plays on that turf all the time, they adjusted to the wet surface much better than Raceland did. I cannot see anything that Scotty said that was out of hand or was really taking anything away from the Tiger's win. If these two teams played home and home 10 games, they probably split. Good luck the rest of the season to both teams, I think that Raceland's post season chances are excellent and a game with them and Pikeville should be great, those two teams have incredible defensive units.

^^^i actually laughed out loud at that one. Has off to the class Ironton showed at the end w calling for the victory on the 1 yard line. Really showed exactly how that game was played. Wish the series could continue but with CG and Itown joining the OVC it cant. I did here that Raceland will pick up Lucasville Valley, another very good Southern OH team. So that will be a good prep game. Good luck to Ironton the rest of the way and heres to hoping neither of us are playing basketball until December!

From way things sounded on the radio, Raceland just got worn down.

That remark is about as ignorant as your screen name. Rain wasn't a big factor on their turf field for either teams' run game. Rain hurt our passing, but Ironton made the plays when they had to and won, no excuses.
11-01-2014, 05:18 PM
Did Ironton not take a knee on the one yard line.

Was rain a factor or not? Scotty is saying it was, said Ironton adjusted better. Now you are saying it wasn't. Just like most opposing views the truth is somewhere in the middle. Raceland probley plays a little better on a dry field. Irontons backs may have also done better on a dry field. People see what they want to see. Im sure most Ironton fans saw the game different than Ram fans

Traction was an issue for some of our recievers (thats a problem that i simply have no clue what to say about) and Young, who is always quick on the release and good under pressure looked like he had grease on his hands and couldnt grip the ball. I stated the weather affected our passing game. It didnt really affect either teams running game. It was a good ball game, hate to see the series be so short lived.
11-01-2014, 06:00 PM
I know neither team could get a xp snap until Ironton's 3rd TD when the rain finally slowed down. Up to that point it was a mess for both teams.
11-01-2014, 06:10 PM
Ironton would be a small 2A school in Kentucky. They would be one of the 2 or 3 smallest schools in 2A.
11-01-2014, 06:20 PM
For the most part, Raceland handled Ironton's running game rather well through the first three quarters and I believe they would have done the same on a dry field. A dry field also would've benefited Raceland in the passing game, but in the end, I think it's the same result. Ironton had too many big bodies up front and over the course of the game it made our quickness and strength, null and void. Did the refs make any questionable calls? Sure, but Raceland overcame most of those and they had little effect on the game, if any at all.
11-01-2014, 07:22 PM
I agree. The only call that had any affect on the game was the hold on 4th and long after we picked up a first down and then some, down one score. The other was a no call of pass interference on the same drive. BUT, I am a firm believer in not letting calls like that affect the outcome. We failed to make plays in the 4th quarter. We will grow from it and Idk if we will see another backfield like Ironton has all season.
11-01-2014, 09:14 PM
Pikeville's skill people will match up with anyone.
11-01-2014, 09:29 PM
Ironton called a fair catch on a punt and then ran it on for a good return and on one of our 4th down runs the ref. on the side the ball marked the ball 1 1/2 yard ahead of the first down and the white hat pulled it back. Also on the 70 yard run close to the goal line the white hat pulled a flag out and called a hold that the films will show no hold. Ironton would have won without those more than likely but Ironton picks their own refs. for every game unlike KY..

I must say YOU ARE STUPID!!! The Rams are probably the best team that Ironton has won against all year.
The Tigers won this game, but thanks to Raceland's 2013 team, your fans had a few weeks last year to find something to do with their time besides Ironton Football!!
A BIG GOOSE EGG (17-0)=No 2013 playoffs!!:yesno:

Of course it's a factor, but I didn't see one running back for either team slip and/or fall down because of the steady rain. I'm sure the ball was water-logged, which is why I said it bothered our passing game worse than it would Ironton, because they run the ball 95% of the time. So...I don't think it affected either team's running game.
Would the RAMS play better on a dry field? Absolutely, but it is what it is. In the end, Ironton wore us down and made the big plays to win the game.

Ironton best team in the area hands down, nobody even close. Raceland prob second best. Would like to see the series continue. From an OH guy, respect to Raceland and the program they have built.

What makes you say that? If Ironton dosent take a knee and scores the score would be very close to the Russell score. And Russell beat Ashland while Raceland lost to them. I would say it would be a good game between them. We will find out next year when their series resumes.

I was at the Russell Ironton game. Russell was never in the game. Raceland Ironton was tied 12-12 going into the 4th. Raceland would have crushed Russell This year.

Got to work this morning and all of my Ironton buddies asked me the same thing.why don't you get the ball into Messers hands? How can the ramps possibly achieve their goals with without getting this kid more touches?I have had three Ironton football fans tell me that if Connor touches the ball more they would have lost.I don't understand having an athlete like that and not utilizing him.As good as the Rams are just think how good they could be if they used Connor properly?

according to the khsaa website:
Christian had 6 carries for 86 yds
Snyder had 11 for 18
Walker had 4 for 30
Young had 10 for 23
Messer was 6 for 12 with 2 tds
we only completed 3/10 passes due to the weather. 3 recievers having one catch each. I agree, Messer is a play maker, great db, good tackler , great football mind, great WR and a good QB. But imo, heres the deal:
1. Our offense is the most potent when our running game is going strong. Messer isnt a between the tackles runner, so if they are stopping the run without 8 in the box, its hard for the outside run game to get going.
2. more often than not, teams are going to run a "spy" on Messer and constantly either double up on him or atleast have an extra DB to his side. so most of his touches being a bit lower than some may expect canbe attributed to that.
our offense needs to remain balanced in both play calling and personel changes if we want to get where we want to go. Messer is a phenominal tallent, but none of our backs or recievers were worth a crap in the 4th quarter. we just looked gassed.

we have a helluva lot of tallent this year. the ball needs to keep being spread around as much as possible.

You saw them in what their second game in a new system? they've made great strides since then. Raceland may beat them this year, but they wouldn't crush them.

russell plays pretty good defense. i think if they played Ironton again, itd be a closer ball game. Raceland is ahead offensively, but Id say Raceland is 2 tds better at home and a td better at Russell. either way, I am very glad that the rivalry is resuming.
idk if either team is deep enough upfront to be able to win AT Ironton. but all this is gibberish babble. raceland wont be playing them any more. Did Russell lose the cotract with Ironton as well?
