Put up or shut up game for JC. I expect they will show they belong.

Latest on Woolum, MRI tomorrow. Bentley may be the only one of the walking wounded to play Friday night.

Not looking good for Bentley. We bought a couple of different types of rib protectors but Haywood still wouldn't let him go in practice. Guess he found out the true extent of the ribs.

No practice. No play. Hope they all get healthy by week 2 of the playoffs.

A true show of sportsmanship is wanting to play any team when they are 100% healthy.... win or lose, you want your opponent to be at their best. Because you know you took the best they had and was still able to get the win.

However, sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture.

Haywood is one of the best coaches in this country. He knows his players and this isn't his first rodeo. If keeping some players out this Friday night will help his team in the playoffs, then do it. I would say the same thing about JC.

Last time I checked, Belfry doesn't have a banner in their stadium for "Games Won against Johnson Central".... but they do have a banner that says "STATE CHAMPIONS"

That was before JC beat them.

Belfry will need to dig deep this week to keep this one tight. I remember the CAK game last year when they were badly banged up and I thought they would lose and Belfry went to Knoxville and found a way to win. Belfry is substantially more banged up than that game, but the theme was young players and players who had been in the shadows making plays. Devontae Dari and Andrew Fletcher both stepped up big that game offensively.

This week it will be about who steps up on Defense, particularly on the line, and the desire the rest of the defense shows to make proper reads and not miss tackles.

The offense has to help the defense out this week. No turnovers, no taking points or big plays off the board with penalties, and keep those chains moving forward and never backward with false starts. Keep that clock rolling and defensively make JC grind out long drives.

Very tall task against a very good team.

Belfry is a very talented team. I'm not bashing JC here, they are also very talented but I just think Belfry will come out on top. It will be a battle no doubt for Belfry. J Central is tough as nails. I will definitely be watching the game on TV after I get back from the East & Greenup game.

I think Hatfield will get more carries in this game than he has all season, unless their D keys on him every play to force Corbett to pull the ball. In that case Taylor, more than Dotson, has the potential for another huge game. Dotson looked more comfortable back there against PC so I'm looking forward to watching him make more progress this week. As long as Belfry doesn't shoot themselves in the foot with penalties, I think they have a shot at winning or atleast keeping the game close. Missing Horton and Bentley will severly hurt the defense. Typically the back up d-line have all been small besides Mullins occasionaly coming in on short yardage situations. I look for him to get more playing time this week, maybe moving Sanger to tackle and him to NG. Wollum being out is a huge kick in the sack, it didn't seem like we had a real backup kicker. It's going to interesting to see how Haywood and company make changes this week. Should be an exciting ball game!

heard a rumor...might have 2 soccer players dressing this friday to handle the kicking...JUST a rumor, but we shall see.

What is Belfry's biggest point spread loss in program history and most points scored against them?

Johnson Central kills two birds with one stone.... In 1972, Pikeville beat us 75-0. That is our biggest point spread loss and the most points ever scored against us in a game.

Not sure...but Lawrence County, Ironton, and Breathitt all waxed Belfry good.

Breathitt got them in 1997 by 49 if I recall with Kyle Moore and Company.

Ironton beat Belfry by 48 in 2000

Lawrence beat them 50-6 in 1999

I hope the Golden Eagles do not buy into the poor, pitiful, injured Pirates talk. Belfry is well coached and has a lot of pride. The offensive line is intact and the Pirates will answer the bell remembering last year's defeat at Cam Stadium.

Unfortunate but true. Next year, should they win a title, it will only be because Highlands moved out. Where is everyone saying that to Bowling Green? Double standards and leaving JC out as the whipping boy is BS.

As I recall, that was also the last game played between the two schools for a very long time, correct? Someone with better record access, or slightly more "vintage" than me might be able to clear it up.

If the Pirates still have all these players banged up from previous weeks. I will have to go with the Golden Eagles

Johnson Central 21
Belfry 14

Anyone know how to watch this game on wymt.com?

We're not asking anyone to buy into the injury talk. Facts are facts that's it. Yeah Belfrys O line is in tact. That's not what really worries me, it is the defensive front and the defense as a whole right now.

I was in Paintsville today and the atmosphere will be electric Friday night. Two of the top teams in East Ky.....Great matchup!
