Will Doan play this week?
10-22-2014, 01:11 PM
It must be top secret! We will act surprised if he does. KHSAA did get this right if he is going to get to play. Those on here that do not know the situation and keep posting he should not, get in the know, you look bad.

I think Somerset wins this game. Be patient jumper fans. You will be back on top in a year or two. Great coaching staff and great kids.

With the Doan kid back... Somerset finally has a featured back they've been missing all year. Finally a go to guy.

If Somerset has a back that is just slightly above average, then they will run all over them?
10-22-2014, 03:18 PM
All I was saying was he has the ability to break one at any time. Something Somerset was missing throughout the year. This will be a tough game but my gut tells me the jumpers will pull it out.

I agree with you and I actually don't even think middlesboro will put up much of a fight?

Doan will play and it will be a Ball Game. The Crater is a tough place to play, fans rolling and ref's rocking it can get ugly in a hurry. Jumpers get the win and the #3 Seed. Go Jumpers!!!!
10-22-2014, 03:53 PM
Jumpers have a good senior running back in Mcwilliams, he's playing very well. Add Doan to the mix and you've got a very very talented backfield with a homerun threat and a tough runner. Should be interesting to see how they look after a week of practice together.
10-22-2014, 04:07 PM
McWilliams is a tough gutsy player. I will take guys like that all day but speed kills and Doan has it. Somerset by 6.
10-22-2014, 04:29 PM
This is the week for the jumpers. They get their first win of the year and pick up momentum heading in to playoffs. This team is not dead yet. Jumpers 28 Middlesboro 20

Doan played last week against LCA after only one practice and it showed 7 CARRIES FOR 10 YARDS , MCWilliams 12 CARRIES FOR 108 YARDS ONE RUN OF 62 YARDS, Doan is very Fast(VERY FEW CAN MATCH HIS SPEED) and MCWilliams IS TOUGH AS NAILS AND HAS SPEED HE HAS BROKE A BUNCH OF BIG PLAYS FOR THE JUMPERS THIS YEAR ,GREAT 1-2 PUNCH , DOAN HAD SOME BIG GAMES FOR SOUTHWESTERN THIS YEAR WITH HIS TOP EFFORT BEING 189 YARDS ON 22 CARRIES, MCWILLIAMS TOP EFFORT 10 CARRIES FOR 195 YARDS AT PCC, THESE TWO TOGETHER COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS FOR ALL OF 2A, WATCH OUT FOR THESE 2 IN THE SAME BACKFIELD! DOAN AVG ON THE SEASON OVER 7 YARDS, MCWilliams OVER 9 YARDS , JUMPERS TAKE THIS GAME 28-13 , SOMERSET GETS OVER THE HUMP AND STARTS A BIG RUN IN THE PLAYOFFS!
10-22-2014, 05:54 PM
My original prediction was 21-13 Somerset, but the more I think about it these 2 teams seem to heading in different directions right now.
Somerset 28
Middlesboro 13
I give Somerset another TD after Doan has had another week of practice with the team. I sure hope Somerset wins they would be a very dangerous 4 seed if not.

Im sure McWillie is a good back but outside of the PC game Doan has faced better competition at SW. That being said I wish them both best of luck and hope the jumpers turn their season around.

Doan wasn't even close to being the best RB on the field when they played LCA , Whitman was , but that being said I think somerset will win

Two very different styles of running back, and one had just been declared eligible the day before therefore hadn't practiced but one day. Whitman is a good player, but I like the upside of ours much more than LCA's.

To each his own, small RBs with decent speed are a dime a dozen,,Doan had been playing before the game so it not like he walked in off the street , Whitman had 240 yards rushing , 349 all purpose and 12 tackles on defense., I personally like that upside better

If were talking about RB's then tackles mean absolutely nothing. Avg speed? I get you're trying to make your point by small talking a player but you're just showing ignorance. I watched that game and Doan most definitely wasn't himself. McWilliams ran the ball well and I admire his toughness. The RB from LCA is big, period. I didn't see any signs of agility, speed, or field vision...all which Doan has. If I had my pick I wouldn't think twice about taking Somerset's backfield over LCA's.

If Doan had played at Somerset all year the Jumpers would be 6-2 or possibly 7-1 right now and district champs. Doan is definitely a game changer in 2A football. I look for Somerset to win this Friday and also win a couple games in the playoffs with Doan carrying the load. They have a excellent 1-2 punch now with Doan and Hatcher.

I'd like to see a rematch of Somerset - LCA in the playoffs
I'd put my Money on the Jumpers in that one!! Somerset lost to Danville at Danville 21-19 and somerset scored with 1:30 on the clock on a 18 yard run by McWilliams that was called back for a hold after McWilliams was 5 yards deep in the endzone. Missed field goal as clock expired. lead LCA 21-3 AT HALF they scored with 2:00 mins left to win 22-21 , Jumpers could easily be 2-0 instead of 0-2, They are primed to make a deep run!

lol, ur telling me hes that good of a player to improve the 0-8 record to 6-2 or 7-1. you briar fans have always been dillusional, this proves it.

I give CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. McWilliams has been the Jumpers Leader all Season Stats don't lie. Both sides of the ball. Somerset has played mostly 5A TEAMS ALL SEASON except Hazard. Doan,McWilliams,Hatcher, should lead the Jumpers into the Playoffs. Its gonna be FUN!

Don't count me in the group that thinks one kid makes a difference to that end, he most certainly makes them better though. Briar jumper faithful watched Doan ruah for 150+ on belfry, Danville, and southwestern as a freshman, and he's even better now. Legit 4.5 speed and unbelievable cutting ability make him tough to defend. If we had him when we played you guys (ncc) last year... Well, I think he's good enough to make up the one point margin I'll say that, but it obviously didn't shake out that way as he was healing from a meniscal tear and subsequent surgery at the time.

I don't think he'd have made that big a difference, but I can see where he could have put them at at least 4 wins on the season? If you add him into the offense and look at how close the scores were in a few games, then he could've easily put them in the win column in 3 or 4 of those games?

The #3 seed is huge. I do not think either goes to P'burg and wins the first round.

Ignorance ? Okay that fine, very small running backs with average speed yes I said average, stop with 4.5 talk not fair to the kid, he is nice little player but he not a game changer by any means, the big running back as you call him pretty much dominated somerset in the second half, and on the last drive nobody wanted to tackle him, I really hope LCA plays somerset again and big RB as you call him may go for 300, pretty good for kid who has no speed agility or fields vison

We have our own secret weapon. We unleashed it Monday at practice.

Come on now somerset fans, Jordan Doan is GREAT player, but he cannot do everything. I know he had a great year last year, but remember what he had around him. You cant replace a Cam Chevurant, Kagen Skidmore, Will Lange, and all the lineman they lost. Teams are gonna put 9 men in the box and make you throw it, and somerset dont have any real threats at receivers. Doan will help but not that much. You jumper fans will realize how great that senior class was last year and the lineman they lost when doan cant get it done!
