Raceland vs Paintsville

Now that he is a Paintsville kid I expect Pikeville to try and poach him in the Spring. The Panthers try to steal at least one Paintsville player per season..in some cases even during the season... McNamee has a nice pipeline set up there Big Grin

Kid looks like a great player!

He is from Huntington by way of Cabel. Midland or visa versa. Not sure where he was first. If Im not mistaken they made a legit move to the Paintsville area. He has been there all season as far as I am aware. He originally wanted to play for Fred Ray at Fairview, but his family, along with coac Ray decided it may not be the best of times for a transfer to come in, legit address change or not. The kid is fast, atleast on film, he doesnt impress me any more than the other standout speedsters in the area. He does seem a bit stronger than Long or Baker though.

Raceland does a good job at wrapping up and having more than 2 guys around the football when making a tackle. Raceland's CBs are great at stopping the run and stretching plays out. Paintsville's only hope is to keep their offense balanced. The addition of Hendricks makes the game a bit closer, but Fairview managed around 250 on the ground and 400 total yards on them, while Raceland pretty much owned Fairview up front. I think that will be the key difference in this game.

Is Belcher healthy now?

They just want to play for a winner, to borrow the Belfry song. Glad to see you have a sense of humor about it, I just like to tweak Belfry once in a while.
lol!!!!

Oh idc if Belcher is healthy or not. Just curious. Its going to take all three of the Paintsville standouts, having lights out performances, to give Paintsville a shot to win. I think many people are still not sold on Raceland. I for one, was one of those people, but I see something with this team I have never seen on a Raceland team before. I have not the slightest clue what if is, but something about this team "feels" different. We will have to play 4 quarters of well rounded football to beat Paintsville. I dont think this will be a running clock, but I think we will pull away with the win, that is based on the line play of both teams. Paintsville has 3 studs offensively, but I dont think they will be able to match up all the way across the bored defensively. Eapecially on the line.

Just Joking SB. He is going to practice. Will know more then.

Paintsville has very nice skill players , & Hendricks is very very dangerous , the highlight reel on youtube , & Hudl does not do justice to how good he really is if you seem him in person . Dont get me wrong he looks great on those videos as i stated before but to see that kid in person is unreal on both sides of the ball . Now with that said no offense to Paintsville but their line is weak , & while i do think Hendricks will be the best talent on the field Friday , Raceland will overall the best team on the field , & it takes a TEAM to win not just a player . Raceland 44 Paintsville 28

Line play is the difference here. Raceland will win up front and control the game.

Talon Wrote:I disagree . While i do agree Raceland wil win , & it takes more than one one athlete to win a game , but Paintsville will have the best athlete on the field that night in Donte Hendricks . Messer is a great athlete no doubt , but Hendricks is the better athlete.

Not doubting this kid is a great athlete, but unless he can: 1. Play QB/RB 2. Return punts 3. Play X, Y, or Z receiver spots, or 4. Play a stellar Safety position (which Messer does #1-4 every week), then he will not be the best all-around athlete on the field Friday night.

I do agree on one point Talon, it takes a "team" to win, not one great athlete.
#71
Hendricks will be the fastest guy on the field. Messer is one hell of a football player though. Imo, they would be better off getting Hendricks in the slot or wr and send his speed down the field and try to get him behind our DBs bc not many are successful if our DBs are within. 3-5 yards of a reciever. Idk how they do it, but those boys, none of them are faster than MAYBE a high 4.5s 40, but they close faster than any DBs I have seen in our area.

Im going to have to go with Paintsville on this one. Rams dont have a chance in this one.

Actually i have seen him in person play all these at Cabbell , & he does very well . No clue if Paintsville will use him like that or not though . Either way we agree it takes more than 1 player to win a game , & i do think Raceland is the better team , & will prevail

I also forgot: 5. Punting & 6. Kicking extra points & field goals...but you see my point.

Imo Hendricks breaks one or two big runs or finds some space on a quick slant for Paintsville's scores. If Belcher is healthy and plays, I think Raceland contains him and well enough to control the off tackle run game and keep Kash from scrambling. If Paintsville had a better line, we would be talking a nail biter. But i think this will look alot like the Fairview game and we will get into the Tiger backfield alot. Thats why. I think it will take Hendricks and his speed and agility to make something for himself. It will be a good ball game for a half, but our depth that we have started to accumulate on the line will be the deciding factor. We have also seen alot of what Paintsville does offensively. Still, I am glad that Paintsville is lookig as good as they are. This will be a good game to gauge how we can play in big games back to back to back (halloween night vs Ironton included). This 3 game stretch is just what this team needed.

Chances are we will see Fairview or Paintsville again. I dont think anyone from the Pikeville district OTHER THAN PIKEVILLE, can or will beat any of our top 3 from our district. Pikeville will handle Nicholas. Once again I am really lookig foward to Friday.

That's because outside of Pikeville, the rest of that district is WEAK. Raceland's district isn't a powerhouse, but is more competitive from top to bottom.
#81
Im with you slic. It will be more competitive next year. But most districts have a clear cut number 1, then 2-4 are sorted out w tie breakers and all kinds of bs. We atleast have a competitive match ups with 2 and 3. Many times 1-3. I think we are looking pretty damn good right now though. I am shocked at how far our line has come.
#82
Looking forward to this one. Weather is supposed to be good and there should be plenty of talent on the field and fans in the stands. Come on Friday !!!

I've not seen Raceland play. I hear they are pretty good. If Paintsville puts Hendricks in the slot and runs a balanced offense "jet, off-tackle and pass mix" they will be hard to handle. It may be one of those 45-40 shootouts. the x factor may be Hendrick's speed on kickoff and punt returns. Friday he looked like a player who hadn't shaken all the rust off yet. We will see Friday. That's why they play the game.

Doesn't matter if Paintsville gets a good offensive player. The defense that Pikeville shredded for 62 with a running clock the whole second half will be their downfall.
And of course he looked lightning fast vs. Nicholas Co., so would I. He will be getting gang-tackled Friday and against other good teams though.

Since you put it that way, it actually won't matter.

I agree totally with Jet. Hendricks is a difference maker, I have watched all of the hudl footage on him. Our defense is really good. Cut and dry. They will have to keep our offense off of the field in order to have a shot and I dont see that happening. Especially with the numbers Fairview put up on the ground. I also agree with the statement that Hendricks could be effective on kickoffs, but we wont kick to him. We dont have a real boomig kickoff guy, but we have developed ways around that. Couple all of that with sr night and the district championship on the line and We will be fired up. This sr class has worked their butts off, like all the teams have in sure, but our experience at the skill positions and maturity, though still young, on the line will be the difference. Its goina be a great atmosphere and I am proud of Chirico and what he has done to get Paintsville back on track, even w the additions of Belcher and Hendricks, The Tigers are still a year or two from where they are back in the mix to truly compete for the region.

Who will the rams key on ,Daniel, Hendricks or belcher? Don't think you can key on all of them.. Also If Belcher is healthy he will back at outside lb, that will make a difference on Def.. I will agree the tigers have to have ball control, running and passing the football. Should be a good and interesting game..
