Made it home, Glad I was able to "Leave Harlan alive"
Harlan County, you have a great facility!!! Your cannon is loud, but JC has WAY BETTER music
I love walking across the bridge to the stadium....... that is a great scene in HS football.
Granny Bear.... you make a wonder pumpkin pie. It was great to meet you and Demarcus ware
Harlan County... keep your heads up. JC is tough this year. Nothing to hang your heads about.
We didn't get to see no "Splash Downs" from Tyler Pack's kicking.... but it wasn't from a lack of trying.
And by the way..... MY NAME IS ALEX GREEN. For the camera crew that was there filming the pre-game prayer and the post-game prayer that both teams had at mid-field. I hope you got what you were after. Show it on national TV, put it on your website..... let the world see that WE ARE NOT ASHAMED TO PRAY TO THE LIVING GOD!!!!!
Luke ch. 9 (KJV)
26 - For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angel.
Who cares what a bunch of nobody's with a camera think. Nobody is going to ever make me stop praying and nobody is ever going to convince me otherwise. And I can assure you, nobody wearing that ugly red dress/halloween costume will ever tell me that praying is wrong or we should be embarrassed for doing so. You can take your "equal rights", "fairness" & "political correctness" and stick in in your ear hole!!!

Johnson Central has a great team! Best of luck to them for the rest of the season. I loved watching your kicker!
Our boys kept on fighting and I am proud of the way they conducted themselves last night!
I am proud of both teams for demonstrating their Christianity for everyone to see! Our nation would be much better off, if Christians would kneel and pray just as our teams did!
Go Black Bears!!:Cheerlead

All I know about them Granny is that they are based in the Middle East and they are the network that AL Gore sold out to a year or so ago.....Needless to say, they more than likely swing towards the Muslim point of view on things.

They filmed our game last night; especially the parts where we were praying. They were informed that they were not welcomed before the game, but attended and filmed anyway. One woman actually stepped OVER the kids who were kneeling to pray at mid field after the game. She filmed that from INSIDE their prayer circle.
I'm pissed.
I'm also quite ignorant about this organization. I want to complain; I actually want to smack that woman but I don't know enough about this organization to do anything that might be remotely effective.
I'm collecting information and trying to educate myself before deciding what, if anything, to do next. Thanks, Bob..appreciate your imput.

I would like to see JC start a regular home/home series with Harlan County.
The drive wasn't bad at all....
Actually.... I want to eat more of Granny Bear's pumpkin cake. And by the way the burgers looked... I think me and brown_ind1977 ate at the wrong spot.
But for real... JC vs. Harlan County would be a great series for mountain football.
If you get the chance to watch a game in "The Deep Dark Hills".... do it, it will be well worth your trip.

I saw her do that too (step over the kids in the prayer circle and film) and wanted to jump the fence and give her something to remember Harlan County by. But cooler heads prevailed as I rambled on about trying to do something right then. I do try to be a Christian. What she did was extremely rude and disrespectful. There should be something we could do to hold these people accountable for their actions. She came uninvited and disrespected our beliefs. If you find something we can do let me know and I'll help you!!!

Also...
I just wanted to add that it was thoughtful of Matney to opt to punch in the two-point conversion when his team was up 34 points with a little bit to go in the first-half.

Maybe he was afraid they would run out of footballs if he kept kicking it for the point after. Did you all return all of the ones we lost at your place?

Get a running clock, get some younger players in to get the varsity guys that play on both sides out of potential harms way and get catch an early bus home. Smart in my opinion

It was smart. Harlan Co is a physical football team...no sense in prolonging the game with a chance to get a running clock.

From what I have read about other schools, expect the ACLU to file a complaint and threaten a lawsuit if the prayer persist. Not sure I tou all say one over the loud speaker before game but that will end too as most administrators give in from fear of lawsuit.

Oh I know why they went for two to hit the 36 mark before half - and I see the logic in it.
I'll never complain about someone running it up a little on the Black Bears...
I just figured I would throw that comment out there to chew on since I've heard a few people mention it outside the forum.

As for the Al Jazeera crew:
It sucks that they weren't more respectful and that they stuck around after they were told to leave...
but I was told that they were in Kentucky doing a story on what young people are doing for work now that the coal industry is declining. They were just at the game to get some shots of the community out-and-about I suppose.

Had RunItUpTheGut been the coach, he would have went for two on every single score and not let off the gas in the second half.

The ACLU can do all they want, but they CANT stop players from praying.
They can force the school to stop the coaches from praying with the players since he is a public school employee, but there is nothing they can do about the team praying together on there own.
In other words, at worst, the coach can stand back 5 feet, be silent while a player leads the team in prayer and there isn't anything the US government, Al Jazeera, or Vladimir Putin can do about it.

Not a whole lot to "chew" on. Anyone with any football knowledge knows why they did it. Maybe the few people that said something are just looking for something to get their big boy panties in a bunch and are lacking in the common sense department.

Let me share something else that I heard Matney did....
I didn't actually SEE this happen, but I was told that while reciting the Lord's Prayer at the end of the game, Blondie put the camera straight on Matney when they got to the part that begain....."deliver us from evil." According to the story, Matney looked up directly into the camera and emphasized that sentence. I hope this is true.

I hope this never happens. The opening prayer Friday was delivered over the loud speaker by a student. The prayer circle at the end of the game was spontaneous.

They were not told to leave. They were told NOT to attend. I still am mad that I didn't do anything. I hate it when people complain about something, when THEY haven't done anything about, yet here I sit!! And I don't care WHAT they were doing, they had no business imposing themselves on that football game. I can imagine how negative we are going to appear on that film. My husband did not want me to cause a scene, so I said and did nothing; but now that everything is said and done, I wish I had. First off, I'd like to see how far up Blondie's butt I could push that camera.

And yet ANOTHER reason why you aren't a coach.

FINALLY!! A reasonable sentence!!!!

Maybe since I work in the media I have a different take on the Al Jazeera stuff...
More often than not, reporters are at places they are not wanted and I honestly feel for them.
I would almost bet money that if you watch the story the shots of them praying aren't going to be used in a negative context. If what Al Jazeera has told me about their story is true - everyone is really getting worked up over nothing.

Care to share with us what Al Jazeera has told you? Also, could you get me information on how to read or watch whatever they publish?
I don't mean to come down on you zaga, but every documentary that I have EVER seen on Harlan County has shown us in a tremendously negative light. And what in the world would a television corporation like the one described below want with film from one of our football games?!!?
Also, if it's positive and enlightening, then they should instruct their staff how to do it without being intrusive and rude.
I'm not talking about WYMT; I love that station. We have DirectTV, and I pay an extra cable bill every month JUST SO we can watch it.
Al Jazeera (Arabic: الجزيرة al-ǧazīrah IPA: [æl dʒæˈziːrɐ], literally "The Island", abbreviating "The Arabian Peninsula"), also known as Aljazeera and JSC (Jazeera Satellite Channel), is a Doha-based broadcaster owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network, which is funded by the House of Thani, the ruling family of Qatar.[2] Initially launched as an Arabic news and current affairs satellite TV channel, Al Jazeera has since expanded into a network with several outlets, including the Internet and specialty TV channels in multiple languages. Al Jazeera is accessible in several world regions. Al Jazeera is owned by the government of Qatar.[2][3][4][5][6][7] While Al Jazeera officials have stated that they are editorially independent from the government of Qatar, this assertion has been disputed.[8] Al Jazeera was the subject of a split in the Gulf Cooperation Council that prompted the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to recall their ambassadors from Qatar on 5 March 2014
