I didn't know that. That would explain a lot.
A couple years ago on his coaching show he said he was from the Campbellsville area.

IMO he will eventually be back at BELL, could be wrong on that but who knows. I personally think Coach Mills does a wonderful job with the boys and I hope he has a many more wonderful yrs at BELL!!

Coach Graves was forced to resign by the superintendent. He was going to step down at the end of the season, but that time table got pushed up when the superintendent called Dudley Hilton.

There is a reason Sani Warren was only named starting QB 3 days before the Bluefield game. Too many questionable recruits. Too many scandals. Too much for James Hurley to cover up. Sadly, it wasn't even Dud's fault, but the buck stops with him. And he is actually from Washington County.

Yep. Born, bred and raised in nearby Springfield (Washington County HS), where much of his family still resides.

Good luck coach Hilton.
No offense intended, but why Taylor County?
surprising to see him go there for sure.

I think it was more like him killing time waiting to get out of Pike County and go back to coaching highschool football.

Dud bowed out at upike or face problems. Health was the scapegoat. He jumps at the first chance he got.

Sadly, this is actually really good. May be my next avatar. Need a UK helmet though instead of a Whitley helmet.
With that avatar, everytime I troll around everybodys response is going to be "whitley sucks"

It would've been pretty sweet if Coach Haywood reached out to him to come help at Belfry for the remainder of the season. Totally far fetched but how cool would that be?

This seems very odd to me, steps down at Upike because of health problems and then takes a job in Taylor County. Either way, huge hire by that program!
09-09-2014, 02:43 PM
I don't know what Coach Hilton's health problems may be. However, I do believe that "health problems" is a common reason/excuse for lots of people leaving coaching positions only to take another job the very next year. JMO

The only "health issue" relevant in this scenario is a messiah complex.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall for his first meeting with the TC team when he talks about having character and coming together after all this. For Hilton to bolt UPike for health reasons, only to end up at Taylor County a few months later is a joke. If you want out, leave. Don't lie about it.

What was strange was that the local newspaper (CKNJ) ran a story at 9 A.M on Monday saying Graves has told the players he was stepping down at the end of the season. Then at 3:30 a story was ran that Dudley Hilton was the new coach at Taylor Co.
I think this is a better job than most people think. I look for Taylor to show improvements this season. The question now is How long will he stay?
09-09-2014, 07:33 PM
I saw in the Herald-Leader that Dudley stated very clearly that he promised the Taylor County AD this season but did not promise anything more than that. He is leaving himself open for another job if something he wants opens.
